ITT: What are you working on v7: Apple sucks because I can't afford their products I know .NET developers who would rather use mono and OSX rather than have to deal with Windows inconsistencies. Also using linux as your main OS get's a bit annoying when you realize all the apps you use on a daily basis don't work quite right. Tried it for a year and never felt at home. Also Terabyte_S isn't arrogant as fuck, I am. So go fuck yourself because I'm better than you. Happy?
I know .NET developers who would rather use mono and OSX rather than have to deal with Windows inconsistencies.
seriously? monodevelop doesn't hold a feather to visual studio. For .NET, Visual Studio is fucking amazing.
I know. Visual Studio is the only good thing Windows has going for non-gamers.
I know .NET developers who would rather use mono and OSX rather than have to deal with Windows inconsistencies.
shouldn't linux/osx have the inconsistencies in this case, because microsoft made .NET?
Has anyone ever heard of someone who switched from an Apple product to a non-Apple product of the same generation (not an upgrade)? I've never heard of it happen. I actually downgraded (in terms of hardware specs) when I first switched to Apple. I'm surprised the fanboi war is still going on as it's stupid to argue anymore. Do you code or design? Buy an Apple. Do you just browse the web and use office software? Buy a PC. Do you like nice things? Buy an Apple
I know plenty of people who went from iphone 4s to galaxy s2 and don't want another iphone anymore. I do see alot more people around me buying macs but all of them say its not worth the price and that they won't buy one again. I completely disagree with getting a apple when you code or design and get a pc for when browsing the web. Especially with how much you can customize a pc to be good at anything. Apple product do look nice I have to say and they put alot of effort in design. But thats really the only thing where they shine imo. And even there the iphone is so much behind newer phones like the lumia. Don't get me wrong apple products are decent. But when people like you talk about them like its the only good thing out there it makes some people just facepalm (including me).
You speak like someone who has never used the superior mac apps.
For me Apple vs non-Apple isn't even about the product itself. I don't like how overpriced their stuff is, don't like their patent trolling, don't like their arrogant marketing, and I don't like how closed their hardware and software is. The product won't even get a good look from me, because I don't want to give my money to the company. But that's entirely my decision, I don't chew others out for buying Apple shit. Hell, my mum got herself an iPad, my dad and stepmother use iPhones. They work, but I wouldn't buy them myself simply on principle.
[editline]30th September 2012[/editline] also im trying to work with a client who insists i modify his existing site (made in iWeb) to add extra stuff. inline styles are satan.
also im trying to work with a client who insists i modify his existing site (made in iWeb) to add extra stuff. inline styles are satan.
If you're offering to create a new site for him, do it. If he throws a hissy fit over it and wants his old site back, bite the bullet and use iWeb. I assume you'll still get paid, just keep the new design for use later
guys you do know that there is an apple thread right??

Without going offtopic it would get boring
Apple products look nice and that's about it.
OT first assignment I got for my internship was to create a mobile site. (making it all fit on an iPhone was a pain in the ass, you get like 350px height on it). Still not finished btw.
they work nice too
visual studio 2010 looked nice. that looks like fuck.
VS2012's dark code colour scheme (when used with Resharper for additional highlighting) is nice. The interface itself is vomit, though. (IMO)
they work nice too
debatable
debatable
Elaborate
debatable
They work just like other brands.
Elaborate
No. Take it to an appropriate sub-forum. This forum is for web development, not for mac vs pc cat-fights.

Hey guys, what about something I'm working on ? A mixture between a text-adventure and today's browser-games UIs. No link because it's obviously deeper than pre-alpha. EDIT: I'm never going to do any work at this rate, it's too much fun.
How are you doing text parsing?
