Seems like there's a lot of Norwegians here.. :) I like it except I think the navigation is a bit cramped... I'm no designer or anything though, but that's what I think.

First of all, the designers are there for you, so "I'm not a designer" doesn't count. Not the other way around.
Second. I need it to be displayed good at 1366x768, so it isn't that easy to fit in the navbar
Use smooth scroll while jumping to segments. Jquery there.

What I meant about "I'm no designer" is that my opinion should not be valued as much as someone who is more proficient in page setup than I am. If it needs to be displayed well at 1366x768, then I understand the cramped menu. Just seemed a bit strange to begin with, is all.

Haven't touched jQuery before :S
Other than translating the text from the Lightbox I have on the site :S
Something premade would be good :)

...if you got a link.
I guess I could look it up myself :p

Here you go, it has a demo or two I believe, did when I last used it anyway..

You'r replay as a user is just as helpful as some feedback from a designer. The users usually point out things that designers don't see. :)

I blame my knowledge in jQuary, but I can't get this thing to work. I'v linked all the 3 files, and copied the 2 script fields from example 1
Copied some more files over and changed directions where they was wrong. Still not working
Making a forum system, just for the sake of learning.

What works:
-register
-login
-new topic
-reply
-bbcode
Don't mind the layout, I've just used bootstrap as I didn't feel like putting a lot of effort into the design.

[QUOTE=nehkz;37997168]You don't need to be an amazing desiner to make an amazing website. Less is usually more.[/QUOTE]
But you need to have good taste to actually grasp what 'less is more' really means. I'd rather say: Good design is invisible, Because it really is. You know you've achieved a great design when you can conceive great style in a design piece as a whole instead of individual graphical elements in it. When someone can tell what you designed looks great but can't really pinpoint what exact element in it makes it great but rather it's integrally good looking overall then you know it's really good.

Could I get an opinion on my use of UL tags? I used them for the middle and right part of the header, the navigation bar, and the footer (I was having a weird issue where I couldn't get the copyright line to be vertically aligned, so I had to pull some voodoo magic).
Basically what I did was clean up mostly my sloppy backend code so it wasn't a clusterfucked nightmare to work with. I feel it's much cleaner now, also everything isn't floated to the left with a "width: 100%" value (don't ask why I did it in the first place).
In-progress V1.5 (changes I mentioned above are live here) -

You can compare it to what is currently considered "live" -

I would love as much feedback as possible. The person I'm working for doesn't want to totally revamp the design, so I'm just improving the current one and cleaning up my sloppy code.
Thanks!
[QUOTE=CarLuver69;38004174]Could I get an opinion on my [B]site[/B][/QUOTE]
I thought tera gave you a nice new redesign for that site? The current site doesn't exactly reek of professionalism.
I know you brother had grievances about changing the design but cmon man it looks like balls
additionally; the UL tags are fine
There are barely any changes.
Yeah, it didnt get better or worse...its basically the same
[QUOTE=CarLuver69;38004174]-site-[/QUOTE]
its horrible.
- too much use of images in navbar
- too glossy
- primary colors hit you like a ton of bricks
- more
looks like the only difference is like
[code]font-family: sans-serif;[/code]
to me.
The site redesign fiasco was a nightmare. I showed my brother and he said it was too plain - it wasn't "wham bam in your face" enough for him, and in the end he just wanted the exact same stuff from the older website design. The stuff he wanted done just didn't fit in with what Tera made. I tried...and all it led to was a bunch of bullshit and drama between us.
As for not very many things changing, like I said, the biggest part was mostly backend coding. It was a disaster before, and it's still slightly messy, but definitely a big improvement.

This was my first serious web design project. Before I just did recolors of themes for PHPBB3, and about 3 years ago, I made a design from scratch (it's long lost on a fried hard drive). Other than that, this was my first completed project. I've been learning from it and probably would do certain things differently now.
Yeah the website is cluttered, but it's my brother who's putting all these images and shit "in your face" because that's what all these SEO sites are telling him to do. I guess there's a difference between a "business" website and a website where you sell iPhone unlocks...one is clean and professional and the other is a fucking glorified eBay ad. Oh well, at least I get paid money to make changes...better than nothing. Would I ever put my name on this website and call it professional? HELL NO. I'm ashamed of the things I've been forced to put on there, but my word never means anything in the end. I don't know shit compared to these SEO sites he pays to help him with his website advertising bla bla bla whatever

He's designing it, I'm implementing it. Your code is [B]really[/B] foul, inline scripts and styles, sending back generated javascript (wtf?), and hidden iframes.

Your brother is clearly a muppet, with all due respect. The simple and clean look designed by Tera himself was great - as you agreed. You absolutely HAVE to make it clear to your brother that the current design looks so scammy it's un-true. To me, it might aswell say "HOW TO EARN £20,000 IN A WEEK, SECRETS FOR A ONE TIME PAYMENT OF £19.99 HERE!".
Lead him here and we'll tell him how much of an idiot he is.
