TerabyteS_, do you want to know what, your a god when it comes to design.
Thank you.
Here is a working demo http://jsbin.com/inixoz/2/edit Should be easy now ?
scrollTo is far easier to use imo.
$('#container').scrollTo('#target', { duration: 1000, });
[editline]12th October 2012[/editline] Actually, if it's any help I'm using this for my current site project.
$('a[href^="#"]').click(function(event){ event.preventDefault(); var href = $(this).attr('href'); var eq = parseInt(href.split("#")[1]-1); $('#content').scrollTo('.frame:eq("'+eq+'")', { duration: 1000, axis: 'xy', easing: 'easeInQuint', margin: 'true', }); });
Degrades gracefully so it works without javascript by using #target links.
Better or worse than my other website design? http://nehkz.me/img/i/5fd565dd6effe3ac100cad245c802a35.png
I'm not good with design stuff, or development stuff, or anything really but I have to create a website for my college course so I decided to play around and try to learn some stuff. [t]http://i.imgur.com/O947f.png[/t] What do you guys think?

Possibly something like what terabyte said - from Google web fonts I am working on a web media player thingy-ma-jig

Probably didn't go though the demo completely to notice that it was using another function.

I really liked Tera's design. It was really sexy and I thought it looked awesome. I spent a week or so trying to get him to use it or something similar to it, but he just kept arguing and didn't want none of it. He just won't listen. He pays like $50 or some shit like that to get SEO tips for his website, and they're telling him it needs all this flashy shit that just looks scammy - "wham bam in your face". According to my brother, the "king of eBay/Craigslist", the average person looking for something stares at a website for 5 seconds, looks for a paypal button or something huge that says "BUY NOW BUY NOW BUY NOW" and if none of that is present, they leave, and a customer is lost. And that's apparently what these other people tell him as well...I call bullshit. He's already "fired" me once over arguing with him about the website design and telling him he doesn't need a fucking useless blog (seen here). All these SEO sites are basically saying "Blogs = more audience" but what's the fucking point in a blog if it's a copy of the existing website? You can compare the way he's handling it to not making a main website and just doing his business off of there. :suicide: It's pointless to argue with him, and everyone else I've talked pretty much told me to "just do the work and get paid, don't argue with him" so fuck it. I'll let him keep his scammy-looking website, I could care less - $20 an hour, even if it's just 5 minutes or $40 if it's an hour and 5 minutes. Good enough I guess. finds $100 in paypal account Well that was easy. LOL
Lacks pizazz.
Any specific points? [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] Well I agree to some extent, but I'm relying on the rest of the content of the webpage to provide pizazz

[editline]12th October 2012[/editline] Well I agree to some extent, but I'm relying on the rest of the content of the webpage to provide pizazz
This post confused the crap out of me because I thought you were quoting yourself talking about my design and asking yourself which points specifically lacked pizazz.

I can't get it to work. Changed the id thingies to what fits my site, but it still doesn't work :S
I have to be very dumb or something. I can't get it to work. Changed the id thingies to what fits my site, but it still doesn't work :S
Have you checked chrome's console for errors? (press ctrl+shift+j)
No errors [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] Can you take a look? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52732348/norsk/index.html :) [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] btw, I have no idea why I did <li> and <li class="sub"> instead of ul and li
It does scroll for me when I click the links on the side.
It scrolls smooth?
Not a smoothscroll but it scrolls [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] I know what the problem is, I think it's the easing you chose. You need to include jQueryUI if you haven't already to get access to those scrolling eases.
ohh, I'll do that then
http://commadot.com/jquery/easing.php
Is the jQuaryUI hosted anywhere or doesn't it work like that. Looked like the files was customizable.
get it here https://developers.google.com/speed/libraries/devguide
Didn't work with
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.9.0/themes/base/jquery-ui.css"></script>
:/ [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] or the google one...
set the easing to easeIn [editline]12th October 2012[/editline] actually, try 'swing'
Didn't do the trick :( It must be something I'v done wrong, as it works in the example .. There was no examples with this code .. ::p
Hey there, I got bored and tried to be "creative" (don't listen to me, it's as generic as aspirin tablets), would you guys mind pointing me in which direction I could improve on? I haven't done any other pages other than the one I am showing, and it's static (I plan to make it PHP). Here's a picture: (I haven't got the website on my hosting yet so I can't show it off that way sorry). It's going to be a blog type website, with maybe a static About-Us page among other things. Ideas? Criticism? Please.
Could we get some anti-aliasing on that body text? Other than that I quite like it.
I don't quite know how to do that, do I add the
-webkit-font-smoothing: subpixel-antialiased;
tag to the tags that hold the text? And if so, are there any other properties this key can have?

I personally believe that the header/footer are going to need to be smaller depending what you were to include in them. Just a suggestion: Take a look through Google's Web Fonts and see if you find a nice clean font that you like. This is just my opinion.
