Not really keen on the typeface you've used for your headings. And the one used for your navbar seems a crispy. Looks alright otherwise :)
Ya. The font was primarly for the title "Marius", because it's big enough for windows/chrome to add AA. Haven't found some any looking fonts that looks great in chrome for windows yet :/
What do you guys think so far? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52732348/portfolio/index.html I'm planing to make the site 100% css / vector images [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] To bad IE 9 doesn't support .otf fonts. Not sure if I'm allowed to convert it.
Looks good, aside from the whitespace above "Marius" *shudder*
Looks good, aside from the whitespace above "Marius" *shudder*
Better? [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] Ya. It's better :) Thanks [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] Also, can you take a screenshot from your mac?
Here you go http://cl.ly/image/050K2I2c2o3z
What a nice font rendering [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] Is the header 10px lower on macs now?
About to start working on an win8 tile sharing site. The default look of desktop apps in the win8 startmenu look kinda shitty. So people use an application called oblytile. Too make it look something more like this. Alot of people aren't that artistic and google tiles instead of making them. A website where these tiles can be uploaded and downloaded would be great. Tag tiles by program/category and a nice search function + overview is something that would be great.
What a nice font rendering [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] Is the header 10px lower on macs now?
Yeah. Much better.
This confuses me a little bit. Size precedence (and the fact that the thing directly below it says "more") suggests that the graph is the main element I should focus on, but it's gray as opposed to the rest of the content, which says the opposite. This leaves me rather visually confused. I think it could be cool if you added some more detail to the graph, maybe even some color, to make it feel like the page's highlight. Otherwise, the lack of contrast/content just makes everything feel equally bland and useless. If you don't want to focus on the graph, you'll have to add a lot more content under it and remove the "more" in "more statistics". Nice job otherwise!
It's actually my first design that I've taken seriously, and even more of my first design in terms of starting out in photoshop. I only have six active colors that I have in my color pallet, and 5 of them are different shades of gray (I find that I'm actually trying to keep this number down :v). I'm not sure how to improve on the graph, though, because I figured if I made the bars blue, that's quite a bit of blue. I do plan on having more content below the "more statistics" and obviously below the "recent events." So, I'm not entirely sure how I'm supposed to make the graph more important (I guess?). [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] Oh, and I'm trying to go for a more simplistic interface (I know lack of content != simplistic), as in I don't wanna throw a bunch of information in a disorganized manner, or information that the user might otherwise not need to know.
I was thinking of having a line graph instead of a bar graph, would that help?
Not sure, mess around with it a bunch. http://dribbble.com/search?q=graph

Now how am I supposed to use that color in other parts of the design? [editline]27th October 2012[/editline]
Only thing that bothers me is, maybe move "admin panel" like 10px higher?
just "admin panel" or ...?
Yeah just the text. Maybe 5px? I dunno, it feels like the awesome allcaps navigation needs a bit more space to breathe. About the color, you figure it out, you seem to be doing a good job so far.
http://www.tile8.com/ Still deciding on colors and background. If you have a suggestion.

[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11275736/s/d/f/o/designs/admin_panel3_nofaux.png[/t] apparently, I was using the faux bold, not the font's actual bold... [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] the graph is still missing something
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11275736/s/d/f/o/designs/admin_panel3_nofaux.png[/t] apparently, I was using the faux bold, not the font's actual bold... [editline]27th October 2012[/editline] the graph is still missing something
white numbers at the bottom of each bar (inside the bar)
http://www.tile8.com/ Still deciding on colors and background. If you have a suggestion.
Maybe a solid color background to fit in with the Windows 8 Metro theme could look decent, seeing as it's for Metro tiles anyways.
Actually having the site based on the metro UI would be cool. I'm pretty sure javascript can take input from the scrollwheel, you could have sideways scrolling working pretty easily.
I have done horizontal scrolling before. Its a pain in the ass with static content I don't feel like making it even more hacky so it works with dynamic content as well. UPDATE: http://www.tile8.com/
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11275736/s/d/f/o/designs/admin_panel3_lightblue.png[/t] what do you guys think?
http://www.tile8.com/ Still deciding on colors and background. If you have a suggestion.
Doesn't work in Firefox or Opera for me (the tiles extend their height instead of pushing down into the whitespace making the whole list move)
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11275736/s/d/f/o/designs/admin_panel3_lightblue.png[/t] what do you guys think?
While I do think that bars are best for the design of it, I can't tell for shit what that graph means or the period for which it's displaying that data My guess was active users by hour for the last 24 hours, but there's 26 columns so that shoots that out the water So yeah, looks nice, but document that graph or something
http://www.tile8.com/ Still deciding on colors and background. If you have a suggestion.
I think the animation looks way to forced and 'gimmicky'. Why not show the download icon on hover and get rid of the white space which has no other purpose than to give space to the animation.
Your right, changing it right away. Better? http://www.tile8.com/
Get rid of the line above the tiles, doesn't look very metro-ish.
I think I just made an optical illusion without knowing it. When I look at the space between 4 tiles I see grey circles at all other corners. Anyone else?
