As impressive as that is (really, well done). I think it would look neater if the tile expanded to the width of the content and then shrunk back down when clicked.

I did the a similar unit in my IT class at school last year and made a pretty nice looking page, but only got a C because I didn't make use of scrolling marquees, tables and shitty javascript rollovers. It's all part of the specification, they're basically asking you to make a shit website.

Don't use Cake, it's a horrible and outdated mess. Use Symfony2, Kohana, Fuel or something a tad bit saner.
