I'm going to make something with PHP that gets all kinds of useful info out of this file.
First I'm going to make it so all entries where the solarSystemID doesn't match any value in an array gets stripped out, and then I need to compare the allianceID's against another list and assign points based on that.
That'll give me values I can then use to make a chart with the Google Chart API.
So far, it's not working out, since I've never worked with XML, and I want to use the DOMElement thing in PHP to do this.
But if I keep smashing my head against the keyboard for long enough, something is probably going to happen.
Creativity can be learned and nurtured just like the skill that you need to develop. I think it's a cop out when people say "I'm not creative" or "I'm not artistic".

Right now I'm working with redis for the first time and building a collaborative-filtering based recommendation system for a project I'm working on. Redis is sexy.
I think you mean the act of getting your creativity into form can be learned. Creativity itself cannot be learned.
Dark YouTube theme
You should use the dark background's version of the logo (downloadable right from their page)
http://html5boilerplate.com/ is helpful at present but really shouldn't be used in production.
I really, really need to learn HTML5. I adore the look of Boilerplate.
I found this editor for windows & mac, http://brackets.io it looks fairly nice, here's a video showing it off a bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HZkrlX7jJcg#! it's coded in html, css & javascript.
Looks very promising! Thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to finish my web application and post pics so you guys can rip the design apart.

HTML5 does not make your sites look good.
I like it, but I think it would look better if the header, content, and footer backgrounds spanned the whole page.

Thanks, I'll add that in to the next update. I was hoping not to use any custom images that are from another server other than YouTube since bandwidth issues are no fun, lol.

Use this to convert images into base64 encoded strings that can be used in place of a url

Little bit rude, but whatever. I never insinuated it did, I only said I liked the look of Boilerplate (as in I'd like to try it).
I think you mean the act of getting your creativity into form can be learned. Creativity itself cannot be learned.
I can agree with this as long as you are also implying that people are innately creative and some people just don't know how to get it out yet.

Your sentence simply sounded very much like it meant that the good looks of the site were thanks to the use of HTML5

I've used it on my site and it fixes a lot of things, uses modernizr and is generally awesome. You should at least give it a try.

I'm sorry that your perception was misconstrued. I'm not quite that amateur though! ;)

Agreed. I just need to find the time to sit down and learn HTML5. Shouldn't be too bad if I stop clinging to what I know.
An application my brother ( Henry ) and myself have made, it's still in early beta. This is our first application. My brother did majority of the desktop application and made it compatible with ezyimg's framework.

This is relevant to my interests.
Can I get an early alpha/beta?

Sure as soon as beta comes out i'll give you a copy :)
Interested too, Krag.

Of course! Everyone is creative in one way or another, wether "artistic", logical (such as problem solving) or some other way.
Trying to create a canvas-based game for the first time. I'm kinda into pixel art right now so that's the kind of thing I'll be doing. Here's an artwork:

It'll be an RPG in space. Any thoughts ?

But other than that it's pretty cool.

Haha, no :)
I'm going for a Fallout 2 style so that you won't get to spend your entire life on a space ship.
Or maybe you'll do! That would be your choice, in the game.

Thanks :)

I was thinking the same exact thing yesterday, some good read/tutorials you can give me?
I was thinking the same exact thing yesterday, some good read/tutorials you can give me?
I'm in fact not following any tutorials, just picking the things I need when I need them. The thing is: I think I'm doing that because I haven't found a good tutorial. Could anyone help us?
Aside note: I've actually tried to do that in C with the SDL library before that, and I have to say it's so dumb to set-up compared to JS...
EDIT: This one looks nice.

The second one is much better! (EDIT: I wonder if garry could add a 'Design King' rating?)
EDIT2: Also something I just thought of: maybe add a "Return to top" link at the bottom once you've reached the end of the submissions ?
Thanks again for adding non-Facebook registration BTW. It's very nice of you.
