It's because you linked to "https://generic-forums.herokuapp.com/" instead of "http://generic-forums.herokuapp.com/" Change your links that load content from "http://" to just be "//", should fix your issue. [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] Looks like this for me since the font isn't loading
that doesn't actually look too bad [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] I knew exactly how to fix it, it's just pushing to heroku is too much work
went on github explore and first thing i saw was one of swifts repos trending
went on github explore and first thing i saw was one of swifts repos trending
It definitely deserves the popularity it's getting. Now try make PHP errors not look like shit! Photoshop mockup:

The three dots in the bottom right corner are slightly misaligned. But it's nothing, really, the design is really well made!
The three dots in the bottom right corner are slightly misaligned. But it's nothing, really, the design is really well made!
So is the ones in the middle if i'm not mistaken. The right one needs to be put more right. Perhaps 1-2px.
I mean, it is a mockup. So, y'know.
Reminds me of instagram :v:
Probaply all the instagram pictures I used. To lazy to look for photos.
Probaply all the instagram pictures I used. To lazy to look for photos.
Do you retain the rights to the images uploaded?
Do you retain the rights to the images uploaded?
The images stay on the server as long as you want, unlike facebook. If you want to delete your image(s) you can do so without leaving the image behind on the server for everyone to access. Images also have the ability to be listed/unlisted, not with the current version uploaded though. At the time being the site isn't public or promoted outside the boundaries of facepunch. The project is far from perfect and is still going to take some time to complete. For e.g. I still need to include the terms of service & privacy policy. edit: Does anyone have an idea for a like/love button, for e.g. Facebook has it's thumbs, Instagram has it's heart. A star maybe?
I think a heart with crinkled edges could work. [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] Maybe I'm overthinking it though.
Probaply all the instagram pictures I used. To lazy to look for photos.
Not really, the colors remind me of instagram, the style kind of reminds me of the new lockerz.

so i'm currently working a minimum wage job and trying to keep up with my designs, and i was driving to work the other day and thought "i could create a mock up site, that allows employers to post what positions they have open and need urgent hires, and people can sign up, write in what they're capable of doing work related and see a list of associated jobs available for them" then i realized that's basically linkedin..so I"M dumb, but i may still create the site for fun, need a side project to keep myself from getting bored, any ideas on this? maybe be able to change or morph it a bit into something different? side note, does anyone know why my photoshop decides to flash the background from normal to transparent anytime i click a UI element? or click anything really..

There are a TON of job listing sites out there so if you want to gain some traction you're going to need to come up with something unique to offer or a certain niche to serve.
ruby on rails [sub][sub][sub][sub]it's quite messy in my opinion...[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
If you don't like RubyOnRails, have a look at Sinatra or the Sinatra-based framework Padrino. It's sort of like Ruby on Rails, only.. Less messy.
What's messy about rails?
What's messy about rails?
I'm not sure about you guys, but for me, the messy part is that is just.. Feels dirty to use. There's so much hidden material, so many things that are internals and unexposed. Abstractions, and hidden understandings, and secret ways of doing things that the developer is not exposed to just by looking at everything. If you generate a controller using Padrino, you'll get all the required information and guides to using it in the controller, and extra information on the web if something isn't obvious at first. With sinatra it's even more simple, but Sinatra is what Padrino is running on, so learning Sinatra and then Padrino will also help give an understanding of what Padrino REALLY does underneath, even if it seems obvious.
What's messy about rails?
It's not rails that's messy, it's my stuff :v Sinatra would be way too simple for what i'm doing
side note, does anyone know why my photoshop decides to flash the background from normal to transparent anytime i click a UI element? or click anything really..
Same happend to me. I reinstalled and it fixed it. Might be a windows 8 issue?

I don't want to look at code that I don't need to look at. Rails is also mature enough that if I can't figure out how to do something without getting all up in the internals it generally means I am doing something wrong or at the very least could be doing it in a lot cleaner way.
When I say "messy," i say it because I moved a lot of code into lib/. I don't know if this is actually good practice or not :v https://github.com/redjazz96/generic-forums/tree/master/lib/generic_support [editline]10th December 2012[/editline] I'm probably going to change "GenericSupport" to "GenericForums," since GenericForums is already a module.
I've been working with PubNub to see if I could get a simple chat based website operational, seems I did the job and even managed to add commands such as "/img ". Hopefully will add "/youtube " and similar in the next few hours. Try it out and see if you can bypass my cross-site scripting protection, would help me if you'd also share how you did it too :) Username's are anonymous, no registration is required. I'm 6a799, it's also connected to my localhost copy so ignore any fuckups or whatever. http://nlan.org/chat/
