[t]http://s.tdoyle.me/sparkweb-1.png[/t] Progress!
i thoroughly enjoy this but it would be a lot more sexual with a white background and a layout that wasn't so generic
Swift and Shift jokes on you. Ruby has a massive SQLi vuln that has just been found. Seems like PHP is more secure after all. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/01/03/ruby_on_rails_sql_injection_vuln/ Also I'd like to recommend everyone who uses RoR to apply the patch ASAP.

[editline]4th January 2013[/editline] Not sure how that proves PHP is more secure either.
That's not massive. [editline]4th January 2013[/editline] Not sure how that proves PHP is more secure at all.
Just looked into a demo of the exploit. It requires he authlogic gem to be used. I'd change that severity to medium then. http://en.securitylab.ru/nvd/435629.php https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=889649 [editline]4th January 2013[/editline] I guess I just really dislike RoR for some reason. Keep calm and carry on.
don't worry, incompetent developers can sabotage the security of your app no matter what technology you use
This. I'l just get back into my corner then.

Which is not the usual case with languages, it's mostly 3rd party software that contains vulnerabilities that can be exploited. I'm not aware if PHP is vulnerable as I write this, but I hope you get the general idea of the point im trying to make. I could just be full of shit, though, fuck if I know.

It's pretty great if you don't have that shitty windows 8 style on the content area.

I saw that on HN yesterday, its awful. It would never work as a website layout because its almost totally unreadable. Its trying way too hard to be "modern"

Most photos I see on FB look nothing like those ones.

Don't know if this should go into programming or in here because it's both (kinda). I'm working on a webclient for teamspeak that will be used by my communty. It's real time btw :D. It's going to be attached to user accounts so that you can't just change your nickname in the final version. http://relay.liberumgamers.net/TeamShout/ (messy code because it's still a proof of concept) teamspeak: server01.liberumgamers.net (it's linked to the Lobby)

I've been struggling with teamspeak for a while, been trying to find a way to tie teamspeak with user accounts on my site. Edit: shitty pageking, my apologies

i didn't want to clog up the sub forum with my pointless question, so pardon me if this isn't the best place to ask. i've been doing a lot of lessons on html and css (and some jQuery) but I want to know what will get me the best..learning? not sure how to phrase that, but i want to get hands on pretty quick. i've been learning on codecademy also, what would be good to work on so i advance? thanks

I think this demonstrates that whoever designed this had no clue about why and how Facebook is the way it is. [editline]5th January 2013[/editline] To me that design just looks like a completely fucked masturbatory attempt at redesigning something that is already good. I personally hate these.
Grid layouts with differently sized panels are just awful imo
Grid layouts with differently sized panels are just awful imo
They can work just not for ordered data For something where an item may be prioritized to be out of regular order it makes sense to maybe give it a bigger tile, like a tag cloud or something like that; you preserve the general order so things are easy to find by having an idea of where in the list to look for them, and the more important items are also evident without having to resort to re-sorting it. But for Facebook where everything is chronological giving one thing more priority than another just makes it harder to figure out the actual order without having to compare dates. [citation needed] that's just how I see it
