Also thanks for recommending long polling Spero78
Node isn't all bad, and if you have a look at something like CoffeeScript, you can make some amazing things.
i didn't want to clog up the sub forum with my pointless question, so pardon me if this isn't the best place to ask. i've been doing a lot of lessons on html and css (and some jQuery) but I want to know what will get me the best..learning? not sure how to phrase that, but i want to get hands on pretty quick. i've been learning on codecademy also, what would be good to work on so i advance? thanks
How I work/learn better is make up something ans just do it. For example my first project was a making a website were you have almost every search, popular sites and apps. Now I'm thinking of making a CMS, forum or wiki stuff from scratch.
I'm writing the documentation for my language. I'm probably going to be changing the color of the links, and that back button looks a little out of place.
Playlist explorer? Where are playlists coming from?
It's gonna take playlists from YouTube and let you explore/watch related videos for each video on the playlist and possibly add them into the playlist itself. It's part of a series of experiments that will (hopefully) culminate in the creation of a tool to handle playlists from YouTube/Vimeo, a la Spotify.
Is it good to sell something as product or a one time package to a single client ?

What sucks: - Playlist limited at 200 songs - Shuffle resets itself occasionally - Sometimes it just keeps playing the same song forever - You can't copy other peoples playlist anymore What i'll like: - Shuffle through everything (more then 200) - Add whole playlist automaticly - Edit everything in a more comfortable/easier/faster/quicker environment. - Add multiple sources (soundcloud/Vimeo

Also I didn't know YouTube only allowed at most 200 videos. That's crap.

Making a lot of progress on my modular CMS, currently polishing it up so I can launch a early revision of my site and then move the CMS to a development site to finish it. I pity anyone who has to primarily listen to music via Youtube.

But I'll certainly put time into making it pretty once I get the backend code to a point that I'm happy with it
I pity anyone who has to primarily listen to music via Youtube.
Gotta love that 128kbps mp3 that's been compressed to holy fuck
I decided to try to make a desktop environment to familiarize myself with javascript. [t]http://i.imgur.com/WKwYW.png[/t]
Gotta love that 128kbps mp3 that's been compressed to holy fuck
Isn't it very often mono too? I burned a bunch of mashups off YouTube a while back, thought a speaker wasn't working in my new car. Turned out the tracks were mono and I hadn't upmixed them to stereo...
I heard news that spotify was closed in europe, when they want it to come to portugal and other countries. Maybe grooveshark?
If you login once in a while in a supported country, you can use it. There are actually services that'll do that automatically for you.

Not sure though, I'm UK and it's supported in the UK. Worked fine when I lived in the US for 3 months though (this was before Spotify was officially supported in the US). You could also use a free account with an unofficial API, such as mine (which incidentally is the only one that supports free accounts): https://github.com/Hexxeh/spotify-websocket-api
I find it's easier to just use iTunes and buy my music. The Beatles are there too, and now AC/DC. You pretty much know you're going to get quality music, plus you're supporting the author too. I dunno, I just have this thing about not paying for music.
I like to pay for my music too but I'll never "buy" music from iTunes. Owning a physical copy is way better.
omfg benji!
Turned out the tracks were mono and I hadn't upmixed them to stereo...
turns out you shouldn't download music off youtube i mean come on seriously
turns out you shouldn't download music off youtube i mean come on seriously
They were mashups I couldn't find any other source for, it was a last resort.
