Spent the last day or two making a signature generator for Fearless, http://www.fearlessrp.net/sigs/ , was mostly just experimenting with the GD libary
make sure you cache that shit
Made this real quick because I just despise those game-tracker things. It gets the job done. http://liberumgamers.net/pages/Servers/
"Counter-Strike: Global Offense"
It's not that offensive is it? ^^
Doesn't matter where you live, the amount you're worth doesn't change based on country. Even if it's average wage you're still getting underpaid seeing as you could quadruple your pay elsewhere if you're lucky.
It does matter, try living in Portugal or Greece. With a salary like that, in Portugal, you would be consider by the government a upper middle class, which means you are almost rich! :v:
As other said, it really does matter. 25k$/year after taxes would be a VERY good wage for one person in Lithuania, so yes, it really does matter where you live.
make sure you cache that shit
Tell me more about this.
Made this real quick because I just despise those game-tracker things.
As other said, it really does matter. 25k$/year after taxes would be a VERY good wage for one person in Lithuania, so yes, it really does matter where you live.
You missed my point. It may be a good wage for the country but it's not a good wage for a web developer.
You missed my point. It may be a good wage for the country but it's not a good wage for a web developer.
Good enough for front end/web designer ?
You missed my point. It may be a good wage for the country but it's not a good wage for a web developer.
It's a good wage for a web developer in that country. (or maybe not in this case but you get my point) Unless you are lucky and find an employer who allows you to work from home and a different country. Or if you are a successful freelancer.
Why is the animated header image choppy ? You are using javascript to do that ??
Yea I was lazy so I just used some jquery magic.
$(document).ready(function ($) { var backgroundpos = 0; var offset = 1; function scrollbackground() { offset = (offset < 1) ? offset + (backgroundpos - 1) : offset - 1; $('.branding').css("background-position", +offset + "px 0"); setTimeout(function () { scrollbackground(); }, 100); } scrollbackground(); })
going to change it to CSS3 and a javascript fallback for older browsers (internet explorer)
You missed my point. It may be a good wage for the country but it's not a good wage for a web developer.
You're being ridiculous. Where you live has everything to do with how much you make, even as a web developer. You are far more likely to get a job for a local company than one for a company in a different country.

Just because you live in one country as a web developer doesn't mean that you solely accept clients from that specific country. Which means that if you think that you're being under-payed in your country then just use the internet to get a client from another country.

Tip: the average income for a web developer In Norway is 102k $/yr
I disagree. Just because you live in one country as a web developer doesn't mean that you solely accept clients from that specific country. But he's not being underpaid in HIS country, he's being underpaid compared to web developers in OTHER country's. You can't compare the two and say 'yeah you're totally being underpaid and should only work with clients in other country's that pay more'. He could do that, and make more money, but he isn't being underpaid per se.
And you think clients from a different country won't try to get an as low as possible price?
How is that related to this? The issue at hand was that "people can't get a normal pay because their average pay in their country is low". That has nothing to do with clients trying to get a low as possible price, because that's an issue that almost every web developer will face whether they come from the USA or Estonia.
Of course. But he's not being underpaid in HIS country, he's being underpaid compared to web developers in OTHER country's. I interpreted it like he was getting payed badly because he came from a specific country, which made me come to the conclusion that he was only accepting clients from his own country. Seeing as he brought up the numbers.
It's also more likely he'll get clients in his own country, than it is to get clients in other country's. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is less likely. It's just a matter of finding opportunity.

He's not a freelance web developer from what I could gather, so naturally he's not going to make top dollar. It's just a matter of finding opportunity.
My point was simply that while you could get more money working for clients in other country's, that doesn't necessarily mean you're being underpaid. You don't know what living conditions/costs of living are where he lives, for all we know 23K/y might be a high wage compared to prices there. Jelly said that he was being underpaid because web developers make more money than that. That statement is ridiculous because that completely depends on the kind of clients you attract, the amount of work you put into finding clients, and the country you live in. There is no one standard for what a web developer should earn, this varies per country and that's why such a global statement is complete and utter bullshit.
Clients who look to get something done in a different country know the prices are lower there and will not offer more money. This probably does not apply to small websites and some individuals who want a blog or something similar. You will not find a company willing to pay you 100k a year if the average in your country is 50k a year. Unless you have a specific skill they require.
Creating a little desktop 'framework', that was initially only supposed to be a click dummy: Themes, flags and Icons are fully interchangeable right now, no content elements 'exist'(in class form) yet. Windows aren't draggable aswell, can't figure out why the mousedown event is undefined when accessing it. Edit: It's done in javascript, because I was bored at work.

[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/uaqDPWb.png[/thumb] Made a small searchable one-click-hoster list in javascript that shows download limit, registration, ... It loads everything from a json file. If something like this already exists please tell me :) I'm going to put it on github so everyone can add more details and hoster. I don't really know if icons are a good idea, but I don't want to display a wall of text :|.

Been working on anyup some more. Ignore the background. The image preview is shown when you hover over the image (and disappears when you move your mouse off, obviously). The stretched row where the images are displayed are from files that aren't images (it's showing their filename, so it stretches the row width) [t]https://anyup.me/v/sb4k[/t]
