I agree but it would still be nice to know if some client thinks differently :D
I haven't really seen them being used differently at all :)
When talking about responsive design; How are we going to only use CSS when mobile screen got the same resolution as normal PC monitors?
When talking about responsive design; How are we going to only use CSS when mobile screen got the same resolution as normal PC monitors?
Mobile browsers generally don't report their physical resolution. They will give you the resolution with the device's DPI taken in to account. The iphone 4/4s with the retina screen, for example, still reports itself as 320x480.
Thanks for replies. While I can browse on my site without any issues it's not adapting itself to the smaller screen. I don't know, at first I didn't care at all about smaller screen but lately I've been thinking if it would be a good idea to make a mobile site and use a mobile detect script. The gallery already has a mobile version though.
Mobile is huge and only growing faster so it's definitely something that should be taken in to account.
Very good point. What would be better, to make your main site more optimized for smaller screen or create a pure mobile version?
Responsive is better than pure mobile because screen sizes vary so much now, some people use tablets, some use phones, there's a lot to account for so making it work well across as many different resolutions as possible is the way to go.
Thanks, got me some motivation, heh.
Found this: https://github.com/brandonaaron/jquery-mousewheel Made this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52732348/mousewheel/preview/index.html I thought it was cool, wonder where I could use this though..

I don't have anything to test it with OSX :/
I always thought that adaptive meant that there are rigid designs that don't change in layout at all UNTIL a CSS media breakpoint (so one layout for 1024 width and above, then it JUMPS to a tablet format when the width is 768px wide or less, etc), whereas responsive may have media queries still, but the site's content areas are changing constantly when you resize it. In other words, when I think adaptive I think of 3 or 4 layouts that change depending on screen width. Responsive means that those elements are ALWAYS changing to match the exact screen width, even if it's some odd number like 1312px.

Adaptive design means a design that adapts to the format it is being displayed in. They are exactly the same thing in this context.
Finally got round to adding a login page and a "Read" page; [t]http://i.imgur.com/6xoCIXX.png[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/rjwcVei.png[/t] If anyone wants to try it out, I've uploaded it to https://revotech.org/fp/
What widths are you using for responsive? Do you suggest something to it, frameworks, rules or something? Beginner asking help to create first responsive thingy...
You can pretty much have breakpoints wherever you want. The new design I am working on has one style for 0-767px, one for 768-979px and one for 980px+

Tempted to actually finish it now. http://pdo.elementfx.com/fpmobile/index.php if you're interested in a peek.

Unless everyone who does the test has Synesthesia you're probably just going to get random results.
It's coming along
You said earlier that they just had to pick it straight away, given that it makes more sense to remove the continue button and just have the colour selection as the pathway to the next step to avoid mind changing. It could be interesting to see what subtle or overt changes to the actual background and layout do to the results. Same as sometimes having colours in different shape selections.
Unless everyone who does the test has Synesthesia you're probably just going to get random results.
I completely doubt this, I think there will be a correlation between the number and the color- although it may just be on a person-by-person test
It's an interesting and valid experiment, though: do people show a pattern when establishing relations between two things that we so instinctively assume are not related at all? It'd be pretty sweet if he did find out it happened [editline]20th February 2013[/editline] please tell me you're asking things like what country you're from (if you're asking people from multiple countries), i am tempted to think that if there is such a relation there might be cultural influences in play
I could do that, yeah. Although if it's actually true that everyone associates things in a different way, even if I group results by country I would see the results evenly distributed between all numbers and colors. On the other hand, it would be very interesting and surprising to see that a certain number attracts a certain color and vice versa, that's one of the reasons why I like the idea of this experiment.

First round of the new design for spoonfedstyle.com is up. Still have some stuff to work out but I like it a lot more than the previous one.
