I finally settled with asmallorange.com, you have to ask support for ssh access and to install python and virtualenv for you and then you can manually install django and get it to run with some hackery. Just thought some people might want to know, what with the amount of php hate here maybe some of you will realise how awesome django is.

VPS hosts are more expensive though, for simple playing around with django shared hosting at $35 a year is all I need. Also I know my site isn't showing the power of django, like I said it's just something I threw together in 5 seconds to see if django was working.

Have a look on lowendbox for some pretty cheap vps' much more fun to play around with too.

how are you deploying btw? I usually have nginx sitting at the front, proxying stuff to gunicorn.
So far I think I'm done converting TerabyteS_ photoshop design to HTML and CSS to his satisfaction. He fucking made me make shit pixel perfect from his psd. I'm so happy I'm done.

If you're a front end developer and you can't match comps almost perfectly then you need to not being doing front-end. I absolutely hate when I pass a design off to another developer and they butcher it because they can't take the time to measure shit out before they code it. If you're not the designer don't eyeball anything.

I agree completely, but this is trivial stuff like a heading being a pixel or two off that I missed. Not only that but none of it is consistent, the same headings have different margins etc.

Once it took me a whole day to figure out that I had to set my line-height.
I was like WTF firefox why u no look like chrome

That's really not the case, it was far more off before I corrected you. I'm sorry to have to act like an OCD-riddled boy but sometimes having two elements with the wrong spacing between them can really change how they relate to each other.

If you're using a good reset/browser normalization stylesheet then you don't get that issue nearly as much.

Just started a new job and they use ExpressionEngine which is a little weird to pick up as a web developer used to MVC. It seems it needs a lot of addons to make it actually useful as a CMS that clients can actually use, which, in some cases can cost quite a lot per site (take [url=http://buildwithstructure.com/]Structure[/url] for example, which makes it easier to layout pages and relate them to templates, something which I'd expect from a CMS), so I'm going to recreate any I find useful and release them as open source. Fuck the system.
