Updating a Magento theme that was made by a company in india. It's painfully obvious it was all done quickly by multiple people and done so that it "works", but for business reasons I don't have time to fix it all right now so I'm hacking it up to match the comps I did.
I feel dirty. I can't wait until I have time to fix all this gross code.
Also, jesus magento feels so enterprisey.

try working on an entirely custom-built php web shop system written by these fucker noobs in india
it was the bane of my life for 7 months until I finally convinced them to rewrite from scratch
such gems as extract($_POST) [b]everywhere[/b]
thousands of lines of code to print a result set as a table
thousands
On Monday I found out I could run any command on the server that I could put in a filename because they didn't sanitize file names and then were using exec() to convert images. That was pretty awesome...
[editline]23rd May 2012[/editline]
Yes ";rm -rf .;ehehehe.jpg" is what I call all my images.
decided to start working on a project i've been meaning to do for a while now, a visual collaborative project management site
[url]http://kopirat.co.cc/teampastes/[/url]
finally took 5 minutes and learned how to load content from other pages without refreshing the page so you can load up other pages nice and smooth with a little jquery transition
for some reason the image hover is a bit off, sometimes the hover out hook is called a bit late and it just doesn't feel quite as responsive as it should, so i need to fix that. also need to add image preloading
The fade effect is way too slow and looks pretty cheesy.
[QUOTE=Jelly;36073548]The fade effect is way too slow and looks pretty cheesy.[/QUOTE]
yeah i was too caught up in the smoothness of it to realize how cheap it is
ill try a scrolling effect instead

cuphone v2
[url]http://kopirat.co.cc/teampastes/[/url]
made it scroll rather than fade, you think its any better?
[editline]24th May 2012[/editline]
also wow i just realized i inadvertently used pretty much the same color scheme as exiam and his stolen designs :(
Much better, the only thing I dislike about that is the latency between clicking and the animation.

oh man oh wow, this is literally worse than 5 minute content, because it's not even his content
[QUOTE=Jelly;36074901]Much better, the only thing I dislike about that is the latency between clicking and the animation.[/QUOTE]
it's because i only call the animation once the data has been loaded from a separate page and my website is a bit slow
ill make it preload the "new project", "existing project" and "about" data on page load so that it isn't an issue

Animate out on click.
Once the data is loaded, set A and check if both A and B are set.
Once the animation out finishes, set B and check if both A and B are set.
When both A and B are set, replace the content and animate back in.
Started working on my Battlelog user script to make Battlelog look like it was during the alpha trial.

[quote]anton: hey
anton: how did you come up with the idea for delivery
anton: i can never come up with stuff
anton: what was your process
anton: pls dont ignore me..

well normally what i do is go onto dribbble and find an idea that i like and then i copy/paste it into photoshop and post it here
[editline]24th May 2012[/editline]
and amcfaggot you can say whatever about the stealing but i dont agree with your "5 minute content" stuff thats the dumbest argument i've ever heard literally nothing i've posted has taken 5 minutes and th e amount of time put into it doesn't make it any better/worse than most of the normal shit posted here??
also for future reference techaos.com/delivery/ is original

Wow, you are one of the biggest idiots in here, he just posted proofs showing that it wasn't your idea so just stop coplaining. Continue with "[B]Delivery[/B]", but just don't post it here.
And maybe it didn't take you 5 minutes but it sure as hell only take almost all of us in here 5 minutes to make that.
So thats why we say "[B]5 minute content[/B]", so just stop. Please.
You must have put so much effort into directly copying designs. Copying an idea is one thing but ripping the design from the same origin is hilarious and pathetic. (My designs may be shit but at least they're original, lole)

I agree, and just as a note I don't think your designs are shit.

I'm not the best designer so I hope you don't mind me saying this but instead of heavily copying an idea you'll progress more by taking time and inspecting how and why their designs are great e.g. looking at their colour schemes and fonts but using them in your own way.
To me the process of getting to your design is just as important as what the end result looks like. My last design on some private work took me several attempts that spanned over about 6-8 hours but I was much more satisfied at the end of it. You may find it easier to design your own way if you put down what information you need to display and building a prototype before then styling your content.
It's up to you how you do it though just don't be surprised when people end up attacking you. It's basically the same thing as tracing someone else's drawing. If you really did that other delivery design yourself (the clipboard one) then you are good enough to not need to copy, that's how I see it.
I have to agree, Emz.
Anyways, I'm designing the web interface for a check-in system. Little project our local techie meetup decided to try, I'm basically just doing the web and RFID card design at the moment.
Web interface:

Card:

Not exactly the hardest design in the world (especially when they already have a graphic direction setup). I'm more happy with using media queries to ensure the same site works nicely for both mobile and desktop browsers. (Ah, HTML5+CSS3 is grand)

The best part is: He didn't even make the clipboard (which is the only original thing in the design), TerabyteS_ did.
is there any good html/css guide for someone who isnt entirely new to web programming, that explains things like good color schemes(maybe about kulr or what that adobe thing was called) and also how to position elements? at best with a little javascript as well,i never really get how to position elements when not using a table :/ when i get all the php stuff working but cant figure out why my page always fucks up it gets a little frustrating
[QUOTE=Cow Muffins;36079673]The best part is: He didn't even make the clipboard (which is the only original thing in the design), TerabyteS_ did.[/QUOTE]
um? the positioning? the layout? the buttons? how about the coding? the typography? that's all me. shit, the idea was all me. the teaser design idea.
and for even further future reference, the only reason why i even bother to make things (every once and a while) is when i'm looking to get my ego stroked. ask gab. shit, i wasn't even going to continue on with delivery from where it was because nobody was telling me how awesome it was and how i'm such a phenomenal designer, ask anton about that one.

[QUOTE=jaybuz;36066812]Admin dashboard thingy.
[img]http://i.jaybuz.me/ezeit-admin-dashboard.png[/img][/QUOTE]
Like this, I [i]really[/i] do.
Get this out of my head, I can not.
I haven't messed around with javascript in a while, so I decided that messing around with fancy unicode characters using as little code or character substitution as possible would be a fun exercise.
I got about halfway done with it before I got bored of doing it, it's an ugly mess.
[url]http://pastebin.com/TxUdZcFR[/url]
They work just like the HTML wrapper methods, and are probably just as useful.
[code]String.toBubble();
String.toFullWidth();
String.toUnicodeScript();
String.toUnicodeScriptBold();
String.toUnicodeItalic();
String.toUnicodeBoldItalic();
String.toUnicodeBold();
String.toUnicodeFracturBold();
String.toUnicodeFractur();
String.toUnicodeDouble();
String.toUnicodeSansSerif();
String.toUnicodeSansSerifB();
String.toUnicodeSansSerifI();
String.toUnicodeSansSerifBI();
String.toUnicodeMono();
String.toUnicodeStrike();
String.toUnicodeUnderline();
String.toUnicodeUnderscore();[/code]
Do whatever you see fit with it. The only use I can see anyone getting out of it, is to jam it into a userscript to allow you to use bold and italic on websites that don't allow you to format messages with html or bbcode.
[QUOTE=exiam;36080272]hahah okay make it in 5 minutes then, i'm waiting.[/QUOTE]
God, I really hate the way you act.
