Your font hurts my eyes.
I know :[ It hurts my eyes too.
How do you guys decide what your site's going to look like? I find it so much more difficult deciding what my personal site is going to look like compared to designing ones for other people.
Your font hurts my eyes.
By the way - Are you talking about the second link? "http://the-thing-called-daniyal.blogspot.com/" On which I have Red Font. I had to change it on the first one and I made it all black font. Is the first one bad too? I find already made templates - Not good at CSS. I don't know what tools are used to make a site, mention me some, please
I meant the first one, font made text unreadable.
And now I have to spend a lot of time changing the whole text thing :[ Is there any option in Blogger with which we can change the Font type of every post?
And now I have to spend a lot of time changing the whole text thing :[ Is there any option in Blogger with which we can change the Font type of every post?
Just edit the css? What the hell? It first shows this and then changes to the unreadable font.

CSS/HTML isn't that difficult to learn though, there's loads of tutorials on the internet.
Just use Notepad++ and open the css that came with the template. ctrl+f "font-family:" and replace the black part after the : with Comic Sans :v:

I find that you are your own worst critic, when designing for yourself. This could be a little bit better, that could be better... This bit is completely shit. You get the picture.
I have the same problem. I find that you are your own worst critic, when designing for yourself. This could be a little bit better, that could be better...
I often get quite far with a design that I like and then something clicks and I suddenly hate it.
Yeah but I think that works out for the best, because I make something, realise how shit it looks, and keep adapting it whilst maintaining the best features of each adaptation so I end up with a half decent design
How do you guys decide what your site's going to look like? I find it so much more difficult deciding what my personal site is going to look like compared to designing ones for other people.
When you're designing for others you tend to have a clearly defined problem set/goal, which often doesn't happen for personal websites - since design that doesn't solve problems is just fluff, which you can't build on top off, you reach a stand-still.
How does one overcome this problem?
Approach your design as if it's a project for someone else. Think clearly what you want, and how you want it. Set the rules and do not ever divert from them.
I often get quite far with a design that I like and then something clicks and I suddenly hate it.
I have redesigned gradstr like 7 times before I finally now am sticking to the current design
I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue, haha!
When you're designing for others you tend to have a clearly defined problem set/goal, which often doesn't happen for personal websites - since design that doesn't solve problems is just fluff, which you can't build on top off, you reach a stand-still.
See despite that, I actually find designing for clients harder. There's sometimes a level of ambiguity surrounding what the client wants (I've had a client ask me for a grungy style, and once I showed them a mockup, they turn around and send me some links to what they want, which are all very modern/minimal.. A lot of the time, the designer is responsible for clarifying with the client, but I usually take grungy to mean grungy so..). When I'm designing something for myself, I know what fonts, colours, etc. I would like to use. A lot of the time, I second guess my decisions when working on a client job, or have doubts about the way I'm going about things. Admittedly much of this is more superficial than goals based though. Having said that, I do believe that creativity thrives in a situation with constraints, and the problem solving necessary to devise a solution based on those constraints. Having the freedom to do whatever you want when designing a personal site, and having nobody to answer to, could definitely make it harder for some.
When I'm designing something for myself, I know what fonts, colours, etc. I would like to use.
Really? I find that this is exactly the problem, I have the freedom to choose anything and it makes it really hard to decide
Really? I find that this is exactly the problem, I have the freedom to choose anything and it makes it really hard to decide
This is exactly what makes it so hard :(

Personal work is fun because you always have total creative freedom.
How would you go to define the requirements?
Just come up with your goals and shit before you start or before you get too far, once you meet those goals you can decide whether you want to change stuff.
