Whαt is wrong with it?
what the hell is up with that font rendering
oh god, the form of the glyphs indicates thats not a font rendering issue thats the typeface itself holy moly batman
https://gumroad.com/l/OpenDyslexic You say issue, I say solution
Looks like Dyslexie.
I am dyslexic and i find this font incredibly discomforting to read.
Looks like Dyslexie.
oh man I remember Dyslexie, but I rarely see it and so I can't identify the typeface by glyphs admittedly the typeface looks a bit whimsical, but the amount of design effort put into it is impressive and respectable
https://gumroad.com/l/OpenDyslexic You say issue, I say solution
http://blog.dyslexia.com/good-fonts-for-dyslexia-an-experimental-study/ it doesnt even work though
I like it how I once synchronized multiple threads with WinForms Timer for DSP processing and it worked flawlessly.
That's possibly because Timers run on the event queue, which is single-threaded (unless you used wait handles to block additional threads). There's also that whole topic of situations where you don't really have to synchronize at all because all atomic operations on shared memory leave the program in a valid state... The worst case there is running into an endless loop because you didn't add enough volatile keyworks, but even without them I don't think much is implicitly cached anyway.
I'm starting working full time on SkyMercs for the next month which is exciting. I didn't fancy coding today so I've started working on the menu music: Not exactly programming, but hopefully you guys will find it interesting!
http://blog.dyslexia.com/good-fonts-for-dyslexia-an-experimental-study/ it doesnt even work though
Strangely enough I can actually read English texts using it about two times faster without concentrating compared to your average sans-serif web thing (but I still read German much faster because there's more structural redundancy). (I'm not dyslexic.) It's probably because it's so terribly irregular you don't have to look anywhere near straight at the letters to distinguish them and/or see patterns. I really prefer Merriweather though. I should look into re-styling FP to use that for posts so certain people's walls of text become less of a chore.

Gary's famous. Gary, did you do this on purpose? I feel like they're reading too far into it, but I'd like to hear your input

I personally found the analysis interesting, even if Garry didn't intend for it to be that deep.
One thing ill probably never be able to understand is how people get more immersed into the game because their character looks like them.
i usually enjoy games more when they dont go out of the way to push some petty agenda on me i don't play rust but it's more annoying than enlightening why you'd be forced into a race purely for the sake of artificial race diversity and nothing more you could even just say you're given a random character and there's no reason for it but it's stupid when it becomes a design decision for political reasons

If nobody pushed any agenda, we'd never evolve in any direction.
The dumb shower it is getting in the videos section though. People get mad at me for not buying because of mostly ideology combined with other factors, now imagine buying justbecause of ideology.
you could even just say you're given a random character and there's no reason for it
Isn't that it though? It says nowhere it's to enforce race diversity, it's just one of the ways to see it. What i make of it is Rust trying to be realistic in an interesting way like it tries with many other features. This game is going to end up being a love it or hate it type of deal, if it succeeds.
Sorry but "Says a young white male". If nobody pushed any agenda, we'd never evolve in any direction.
what does this accomplish though agendas usually have goals, and if me being called a nigger in a game is suppose to give me a new world view on black people, then i think you'll find that's not realistic

so I made that pathfinding thing a while back and promised a maze generation thing, so here it is, kind of 1. shitty implementation of the backtracing method i'm pretty bad at this whole algorithm thing so yea 2. Life-like cellular automaton "Maze" [t]http://i.imgur.com/gvNXqYn.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/lxpB37Y.png[/t] kinda WIP, still screwing around with this just recently stumbled upon cellular automata, and I think they're fucking amazing
All human characters in the original Pokemon game are white. Traditional gender roles are enforced
whoa wtf really? ive just always assumed they were all asian of some sort. i mean, they come from a place called Kanto so. to this day i still dont know what brock was supposed to be
For the past 2 days I've been working on an optimizing Brainfuck to CLR compiler in F#. I've written one before (1½ years ago) in C#, but this new version is far more advanced. It utilizes optimisation techniques from these two articles, and a few of my own. It produces PEVerifiable dependency-free .NET assemblies, while being relatively fast. Mandelbrot.b from here gives these results:
Optimizer did 3 passes. Parse-time token merging reduced tokens by 63.32% Optimizer reduced tokens further by 26.79% (73.15% in total)
The compiler produces three binaries with three different suffixes: _b is completely non-optimized, _m is only parse-time optimized and _o is fully optimized.
$ time ./hello_b.exe >> /dev/null && time ./hello_m.exe >> /dev/null && time ./hello_o.exe >> /dev/null real 0m16.930s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.015s real 0m4.411s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.000s real 0m1.746s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.000s
(hello_b is 102kb, hello_m is 43kb and hello_o is 38kb) Unoptimized: [vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5017522/ShareX/2015/05/2015-05-28_03-11-23.mp4[/vid] Optimized: [vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5017522/ShareX/2015/05/2015-05-28_03-12-40.mp4[/vid] Todo: * Implement a CLI. * The code quality is spotty at best. The optimizer is full of dragons, and the IL emitter while functional (= works) and fast is not very functional (= doesn't follow the idioms of functional programming). * Add further optimizations, such as multiplication loop detection. The compiler itself could also be optimized a bit, but so far it's been fast enough for any program I've thrown at it.
I decided to start learning more with Blender. Learned proper rigging, and some animating. So I got 8 directional movement started. Along with learning how I can setup clothing and stuff. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/pG2CmNW.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
I made a program (in C, but I'm going to redo it in Ruby!) that converts escape characters into HTML and formats it that way. this way, I can take notes in math class without having to remember the unicode number for epsilon or delta. instead, I type \e for epsilon, \d for delta, \i for infinity, \p for pi, and some other formatting (i'm adding more). So, for example, this is the input: http://proboardslol.neocities.org/5-26-15.txt and after running it through the program, it comes out with a little bit of formatting, and when combined with a style sheet, I get: http://proboardslol.neocities.org/notes.html so that I can take notes more quickly in math class without worrying about typing in HTML, or without having to spend 30 minutes after class formatting my notes for later; now I can just run it through this program and upload it to my neocities
All this discussion about race in games and so on seems always a bit heated topic. In my opinion things get ugly when one sides tries to push something to where it doesn't belong, like all the hate metal gear received by showing a girl in sexual provocative clothes (I mean, it's metal gear, why would people make a drama about this? there's plenty of 'weird' stuff in the saga, most of those don't even seem to be players of the actual game..). Regardless of this, it's also good to have games that attempt to do a political message, it's good for the medium. I just don't wish to have the industry to lose artistic value by forcing these type of themes in every single game. Sometimes I just want to play as your average guy saving the world and being a bad ass hero and it's certain that I will feel more connected to a character similar to me (in cultural values and even aspect) than to a character where I will find every decision he does weird due to different values. I'm not sure how some of you don't understand how it's easier to relate to someone similar to like you, but it's not something that happens just in games, it happens in books and movies. Identifying with certain characters or protagonists is part of what makes something immersive. If Rust decided to do that about race, it's a decision like any other, some will like it others won't, hopefully the demographics that the game is trying to target will enjoy it.
The new blood system is so expensive, but I think it's worth it

In your last two pictures, it's crossing through walls diagonally, or is this intended? If it was intended, there are much faster ways of traversing maze #1 :)
