Whatever happened to the SSH access? I tried connecting the other day and it let me log in, then told me it's been disabled and quit. Granted, I didn't have much use for it anyway, but it was kinda cool to have. I suppose it's part of the new security measures mentioned a few posts up?
To my knowledge, SSH wasn't being abused. However, it's just one of those features that could potentially open up a ton of security problems.
If you require SSH access, I can enable it for your account. I'd just prefer to keep access to a minimum.
You should add margin-top: 0.25em; to the .bannerrt class of the main page CSS. It fixes the banner not being centered.

that is some serious ocd right there.
Just realized, this thread is now a year old.
Anyways, happy Halloween guys.
Enter 'halloween' at checkout to make the first two invoices $0.99 instead of $5.95. (Jester's Plan only)
wibblywobbly50
The above coupon was created for all of you fine companions out there.
It's good for your first invoice only, and will give you a 50% discount on the following payment cycles; monthly, quarterly, semi-annually.
Discounted rate
Monthly: $2.97
Quarterly: $8.70
Semi-annually: $16.50
(since we prorate, actual discount may vary)
If you've never watched Doctor Who before, I'd suggest you get your butt over to your local video site and watch the living crap out of it. (I'm currently playing catch-up on Netflix, and am on Season 5)
The Doctor originally launched on November 23rd, 1963.
Happy 50th anniversary, everyone!
As mentioned on Twitter, we're giving out $5.00 of free web hosting credit to anyone and everyone that wants it.
Just open up a support ticket to our billing department, and you'll be credited within an hour.
This is open to all current and future clients, just as long as you make the request today. This $5.00 can be applied to anything that DoRoyal sells, and can also be used with any of our previously generated discounts. (that are still active)
Happy Thanksgiving, guys! Hope you all have a fun turkey-filled day! (oh, and be sure to drive safe, cause it would suck if you got into an accident with a belly full of turkey)
Well, it's been a while, huh?
No discounts for you today, but I do have some news. It's kinda cool, too.
First, I'd like to apologize for my inactivity. I've been working hard behind the scenes on a reliable operating structure. I've also been calculating expenses like crazy, trying to figure out the best way to move into the new year.
I've been building up my social presence, creating an ad campaign, and negotiating contracts with third parties.
I'm also sorry for prematurely announcing services that I'm not ready to host. Game servers, VPS and reseller packages. DoRoyal is simply too small to host those effectively.
As announced a few months back, I've been working on a new hosting plan. The King's Plan will be more powerful, and generally much faster than the current Jester's Plan. It'll run on top of the line dedicated machines that are around 7 times faster than the machines Jesters and Starter are on, and each package contains 50 GB of guaranteed disk space, and 500 GB of guaranteed bandwidth. This is simply guaranteed space, as the plan still operates on an unlimited/unmetered network. Additionally, King's Plan will be hosted on a 1 Gbps port, while Jester's and Starter are both on a 100 Mbps port.
King's Plan is intended for serious businesses and individuals that require serious hosting power. Your average consumer will not want or need this plan.
Given the amount of guaranteed space and bandwidth, this plan will retail for $18.95 /month. Yearly prepayment is encouraged, and will include a free domain, dedicated IP and SSL certificate.
This is basically DoRoyal's way of catering to the professional market.
I'm still very interested in hosting game servers, but it is no longer a priority. Though, I hope to have game servers up and running as soon as the network is capable of supporting them.
Technically, I could introduce them at any time. However, I don't have boxes powerful enough to host more than four servers. So, it'd be a waste to do anything right now.
That said, if the demand is high, I'll see about making an exception. I just can't guarantee the best experience possible. (TF2 servers)
I suppose that's it. Just wanted to post a serious reply about the future of DoRoyal, rather than yet another discount.
Hope you like where DoRoyal is heading, and for those of you that have been with us since the very beginning, thank you. You're the reason DoRoyal exists. :)

been following this thread since last year and i have to say it's nice you guys are still in business.
Just a quick and simple reminder.
We're posting a ton of coupons and updates over on our Twitter page, so if you're looking for some kind of discount, or if you're simply looking for a constant feed of DoRoyal news and announcements, please be sure to follow us on Twitter.
We're still going to fully support Facepunch, and provide you guys with some awesome coupons. However, we're generating codes left and right on Twitter. So, if you want a code, go there first. Heck, asking @DoRoyalHost for a discount has also been known to work quite well. :)
Seriously, if you happen to host your website with DoRoyal, please make an effort to follow @DoRoyalHost.
That's it for now. Probably won't post another update on here for another couple of weeks. (will make an effort to reply to any questions, though)
I've been hosting a site with you guys for over half a year now and I have to say it's been an awesome experience. I knew pretty much nothing about web development (still don't really :v:) but the server has pretty much always been up, you've answered all of my questions within a couple of hours (even the stupid ones...) and I'm looking forward to seeing you become even more successful down the line!
I was wondering if you could add something on the front page to go in to the control panel
Maybe as an sub-menu in Hello, <name>

Fantastic suggestion!
I might be able to add something to the Portal, though for the most part, the control panel can be accessed simply by typing it at the end of your URL. (ie. yoursite.com/cpanel)

Hmm. I tried that and it just gives me "The login is invalid"
But I wouldn't feel secure about just being able to log in that way

if it says the password is invalid, you probably changed your login password at some time. You can always go back to the client page and change it again.

That's unusual, as the cPanel screen is universal for all accounts on the server. It's just a different access point.
Since you're a fairly new customer, it's possible that the domain name has yet to fully propagate. Though, that doesn't seem all that likely. Have you tried clearing your cache, or trying to sign in using a separate web browser?
Also, in the New Account Information email, some people have been reporting an invalid 'space' hidden inside of the password or username. If your username or password contained a space, you'll need to remove it before you can successfully log in.
If you're still unable to sign in, please open up a support ticket. We'll regenerate a random password for you to use.
Just purchased the starter plan for a small community of mine and i've got to say, good work. Top notch support, fast setup, generally just having a good experience.
The PHP Configuration Editor will go live on February 22nd. Some downtime is expected while PHP is recompiled, and the server will be restarted to finalize this upgrade.
Once the update goes live, you will be able to change your active PHP version from within cPanel. The available versions will include; 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5. (default will remain at 5.3)
You can thank gokiyono for keeping the pressure on us to upgrade in February. We had originally planned to do this in March. :)
Also, regarding this thread? I won't be maintaining it as often as I used to. While this is one of the oldest web host threads on Facepunch, I can't help but to feel partially responsible for all of the other hosts that tried to advertise here with no intention of sticking around. So, I'm cutting back on my updates, and will (for the most part) only reply back when needed. (such as if someone asks a question)

As requested, a blog. :)
It's nothing overly fancy, but should serve its purpose.
Today's changes.
1. Removed prorated billing for new signups, as it conflicted with the effectiveness of discount codes and special offers.
2. Created a new discount, which is valued at $0.90 and recurs for 3 months. (code: 90x3)
Also, all future changes / statements such as these will be published onto our new blog. (thanks for requesting it, gokiyono)
If you're interested in receiving future news and statements, please subscribe to our blog. (link in an above post)
That's it for today.
So, I completely forgot that this thread existed. It took someone being referred from here for me to even remember this thing. (how the heck did he even find this thread? heh)
Anyway, I'll probably update the original post later on, as a lot has changed in the three years since I started this hosting project. It's been an absolute joy, to be honest.
Not sure if anyone here is still actively hosting with me. I know FrankPetrov is, and I think maybe Adzter is still with me. I'd actually be interested in seeing just how many people from these boards are using my services. It's kinda cool, actually. I feel like I was a part of something, even if it was in a relatively small way.
Anyway, some changes have been made since I last posted a year ago. Here's the major stuff.
1. Starter's Plan now comes in three variations. (2GB, 3GB and 4GB)
2. King's Plan has finally gone live. (50/500GB)
3. PHP Editor is available for all plans, and is a part of CloudLinux.
Oh, and game servers are... still not live. Just figured I'd point that out.
I guess that's it for now. I'll try to update the original post within the next day or two, though I may just let this thread die. This thread doesn't really have a purpose now that I neglected it for a full year. I'll still answer questions, and all that jazz. Just probably won't post news and information here anymore. Also, sorry for bumping a year-old thread. Since people seem to still be coming from here, I figured I should probably provide some type of update, even if it's just a basic post. Least I could do.
Have a good day, guys.
Still hosting with you, my original statement above still stands, haven't had any issues in the last year.
Same as above. No complaints or issues.
I too am still with you (have been since 1st June, 2013) and happy as ever with the service. Don't think I've posted in this thread before but I along with a few others tend to recommend DoRoyal when people ask what web host to use in the web dev threads.
That's awesome! Not only are you guys still hosting with me, you're actually going out of your way to recommend my services to others. That's just... insanely awesome. :D
Thanks for your continued support. You have no idea how happy that makes me. Heh. :)
Anyway, I've gone ahead and updated the original post, so plan info and whatnot is now displayed. Will also generate a few coupons, and have them listed on the original post by early next week.
So, yeah.. I guess that's it. Cya guys, and happy Valentine's Day! (ps. i hate this stupid holiday)
Interesting. I just cancelled my plan, might try this next. Seems cheaper and better.
Hmm. Isn't there a contract for that hosting provider? How were you able to get away with this?

Did you really just try to get a referral by masking your affiliate link?
You're doing it wrong.
Heh, totally forgot about this thread as well. You definitely do provide an awesome service and have been for years. Rather hard to believe I've been with you just over 2 years. Granted, i barely use the services like i used to, I pretty much just use mail now. But still, you've stuck through all my annoyances. I'm glad ya'll are still around and I hope you stick around for years to come.
Hey guys, I just wanted to say that DoRoyal is turning three this month. :D
So, to celebrate, I've generated two coupons.
The first is 3YearsOfAwesome. This is a price override of $2.95, and has no maximum duration. So, you'd basically pay $2.95 instead of $5.95 for as long as you use the service. It's worth noting that the coupon will only be active and redeemable until the end of April.
The second is 6415. This gives you six months of hosting for $15, but it's only a one-time thing. After the first duration, the price goes back up to $33.00. Also, the coupon will only be active for another six days.
Well, there you go, guys! Figured I'd post this all here, as I know a good number of you are in need of a decent host. So, yeah. :D
Oh, and yesterday was also my birthday. Got a Bloodborne themed cake. Seriously, if any of you have a PS4, definitely pick up Bloodborne! That game is fantastic.
edit:
Here's a picture of the cake.
