Good location (In my case, I would be interested in Europe).
No speed limits
Space limits are a nice thing not to worry about, even though you don't use it.
Cheap & Good support
When you say space limits, are you referring to hosting plans with an unlimited amount of space available, rather than those that enforce a certain limit, such as 20GB?
-Ty H.
20GB is reasonable, but still the thought of having to manage it - even though you're not using more than 100mb.
Freedom always feels nice.
20GB is reasonable, but still the thought of having to manage it - even though you're not using more than 100mb.
Freedom always feels nice.
That's an excellent point, and is one of the reasons that we (as well as most other hosting providers) offer an unlimited amount of web hosting space and transfer.
However, as you are likely already aware, unlimited hosting is nothing more than a simple marketing trick. There's no such thing as a truly unlimited host, as hard drives do not yet have an infinite amount of disk space. (but wouldn't it be cool if they did?)
Physical limitations exist, which is why we list our hardware specifications in our original post.
Generally speaking, it's actually wise to avoid so-called 'unlimited' hosting providers who do not publicly display their actual limitations, as chances are, they'll end up screwing you over in the long run.
You should also avoid locking yourself into a prepaid contract, no matter how much of a discount they offer.
And that's coming from us, a fellow website hosting provider. BS runs deep within this industry. :)

We've updated our affiliate / referral platform.
Changes:
-Commission rate increased from 10% to 25% recurring.
-Minimum balance required to 'cash out' has been raised from $10 to $15.
-New affiliate accounts will be given $5 of free referral credit.
That's pretty much it for today's update.
- Ty H.
*does not apply towards domain name purchases
The full version of Softaculous has been enabled. Sorry about the delay. (thought we already added in the license key)

Fact: DeRoyalServers was founded on April 18th!
Also a fact: Ty was 'founded' on April 7th!

Domain Name Update
New Domain Name TLDs will be made available for purchase from DeRoyalServers within the next couple of days.
The following extensions will be added;
.CA - $13.90 / year
.BIZ - $11.95 / year
.INFO - $11.95 / year
.MOBI - $18.45 / year
.NAME - $11.95 / year
.XXX - $89.95 / year
.UK - $9.95 / year
Additionally, the following domains are on sale as of this writing;
.ORG - $5.95 / first year
.BIZ - $5.40 / first year
(promotions end on April 30th)
- Ty H.
Sure wish the .XXX wasn't so expensive. I'd grab some for the lulz.
Sure wish the .XXX wasn't so expensive. I'd grab some for the lulz.
.XXX - a trollers best friend. :quagmire:
Seriously though, that specific domain sTLD is intended strictly for those who host adult oriented content. The price for that domain varies by provider, with some selling them for over $100. (GoDaddy has them for $99 / year)
As far as I am aware, ICANN prevents standard users from registering the .XXX sTLD if they are not involved within the sponsored community. Essentially, you must have some form of operation within the adult industry to register a .XXX domain, and DeRoyalServers may prevent certain domains from being registered if the registrant fails to verify his or her credentials. (ie. involvement within the industry)

So I'm guessing that having an addiction to porn and uploading one's favorite videos to their site would not be considered "involvement in the industry"?

Most likely not. :)

Discount Reminder
The iPunch coupon code mentioned in the original post will expire on April 15th, preventing new users from signing up with the 90% recurring discount.
We plan to create another discount that'll be exclusive to FacePunch users after iPunch has expired. However, this new discount will only provide you with 50% off of your first month, and is not recurring.
So, please be sure to take advantage of the iPunch discount before it expires on April 15th.
You wouldn't want to miss out. :)

Website Update
Here is a changelog of todays update;
The Hosting page has been renamed to Hosting Features, and now displays a list of features and service compatibilities. You are also able to purchase website hosting services directly from this page itself, just as you could before.
We've added a new Support menu to our site-wide navigation. Clicking the Support link itself will direct you over to your recently created tickets. Hovering your mouse over this menu will open up four additional sub-menus. These submenus can be used to create a new support ticket directly, to view our online Knowledgebase, to view our recent Announcements and a link to @Twitter Support, which you can use to send us your support-related Tweets.
We've also updated our About Us page to contain more information, as well as a section for client testimonials.
We've updated our Home Page to contain a small testimonial window.
We've added a demo user account, so new potential clients can familiarize themselves with our services before they choose to sign up. Demo account information is available on our Hosting Features page.

That's it for todays update.

Heh, yeah it is.
We plan to change the cPanel interface once we have our new logo and artwork up and running.
So, if you think that's creepy, imagine being greeted by a large cartoon Jester. Trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet. :wink:

Edit: Oops, didn't mean to rate your post. I'm currently using the Wii U, and my stylus slipped.
Edit 2: There we go, all fixed. I accidentally rated your post as being 'late', when I intended to hit the reply button.
No matter, I managed to find the funny icon, and changed my rating. :wink:

All in all - DRS seems like a great place though! I'd grab the offer you have for Facepunch now but still waiting for my bank to send me my new stuff...

A Little Message From Our King -
As of now, we practically dominate the Facepunch community when it comes to website hosting services. The feedback on our thread alone has been truly amazing, and we have received absolutely no negative criticism since we 'bumped' this thread up around a month ago. Honestly, I know we're amazing, but the fact that others believe we offer a valuable service.. well, that's just pretty darn cool. Then again, since we already knew we were pretty darn cool, it was kind of expected for the community to think so as well. (that's obviously our very large royal ego talking, and doesn't/shouldn't indicate that we are full of ourselves, as most kings tend to be)
Yeah, we're really milking the whole 'royal' theme, haha.
The intended (non-egoistic) rephrasing of what was said above is fairly straightforward. Basically, the English translation is;
We gratefully thank everyone for their valued support, and really love the unexpected praise we have been receiving from the Facepunch community. Even though other providers are also posting on these forums, no other shared hosting provider has been posting network and company updates as they actually happen. It has been a true honor to be able to update such a large and wonderful community with our company happenings, as well as to provide you guys with exclusive discounts and special offers.
I guess what we're trying to say is;
Thank you.
Without you, we would still be just another host under a rock. Now, thanks to your warm approval, we are finally able to step out of the closet and enter into our own imaginary kingdom of awesomeness. (yeah, again with our royal ego)
- Ty H.

(Oh, and don't worry about this ego thing. We're only doing this to show how amazi.... to show how we are operated by normal everyday people. Basically, website hosting isn't just about having the best technology, which we just so happen to have... Uh, that ego again. Sorry... So yeah, amazing technology doesn't create an amazing experience, it's the people behind the technology that makes all of the difference, and you must admit, we are one of a kind)
[editline]16th April 2013[/editline]
Yeah, hope I wasn't killing it with the large ego in that post.
Tried for a somewhat new personality, and a coworker of mine suggested I start writing statements in a 'king-like' way, which basically meant to sound all "big" and "important" which obviously doesn't apply to DRS in any real way whatsoever.
Still, what was said above is true. We thank you all for your wonderful support, and we're committed to remaining an active member of these boards for years to come.

Service Updates
Minor update to our services today that should enhance the security of our servers.
We've also removed the option to order one year of hosting in advance, and will be focusing primarily on our monthly shared hosting plans.
We've also added support for .CA, .INFO, .MOBI, .NAME, .UK and .XXX.
More domain registration options will also be made available within the coming weeks.
- Ty H.
(apologizes for posting at the bottom of this. I'm unable to create a new reply until someone else replies. Hopefully you guys can see this message)
Awesome updates :D thanks for staying active in the community and letting us know what goes on.
Website Transfers
DeRoyalServers now provides free website transfers, with some restrictions;
1. Only cPanel transfers are currently supported.
2. The website must be smaller than 5 GB in size. (the lower the size, the faster the transfer)
3. DeRoyalServers is not responsible for any loss of data that may take place during this transfer, and you agree to hereby accept the risk that certain critical files may be lost along the way.
Once your website has been transferred over, it's advised to manually check every page of your site to ensure that it is functioning as intended.
You will also be required to either transfer your domain name over to DeRoyalServers, or to use our nameservers. Otherwise, your site will not appear online.
Remember, domain name propagation can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours. (average time is 3 hours)
- Ty H.
(update: Reduced the size limitation)
Clan Affiliate Program (CAP)
Technically, this program isn't new, it's just the first time we've announced it to you guys.
Basically, the Clan Affiliate Program is a modified version of our standard affiliate service that offers a higher payout over the standard affiliate network, as well as the chance to earn free video game servers. (once we offer them as a service later this year)
This service is available only to gaming clans and communities, and we manually verify every application sent to us.
