For some reason I haven't been able to access my site nor my cpanel for last week.
Extremely sorry for not getting back to you straight away.
You should know that I've added $5.00 of credit to your account. This kind of delay isn't acceptable, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
As far as I can tell, the server has been running smoothly throughout the day, and no downtimes have been reported.
You can view the live server status here - http://stats.pingdom.com/99fftxufag3z/917262 (updated once every minute)
Please check your ticket for a more thorough response.
As part of todays rebranding effort, we have updated our Twitter account to @DoRoyalHost, instead of @DeRoyalServers.
Additionally, we've changed the wording and logo on our Facepunch OP.
We're updating our domain name ahead of our previously announced August 20th date.
As of right now, our website is offline. (pointing to a temporary ad page)
My apologies for the inconvenience.
If you need to contact support, please do so by sending me a PM on here, or by tweeting to @DoRoyalHost.
(ps. this is an extended downtime, and may last for 12 hours)
We encountered some problems during the first switch attempt, and had to abort.
We may be a tad behind on our initial schedule. The final rebranding step may not finalize until August 27th, instead of the previously announced August 20th.
Please be aware that some downtime is expected between now and then. However, we're doing everything that we can to ensure a safe and effortless trip to doroyal.com.
Some things to be aware of
1. Your DNS settings will remain the same.
2. All new accounts (after domain switch) will automatically use our new DNS settings.
The Future of DoRoyal
Believe it or not, we actually have a very elaborate plan for DoRoyal, one which will separate us from being yet another traditional hosting provider.
Can't really say much regarding this plan, but it may or may not involve high powered cloud computing services that may or may not be used to render HD video games from indie game studios.
Oh, and we're currently hiring. Contact me in a PM if you're interested in one of the below jobs.
Sale Agent. (looking for as many of these as we can get)
Support Agent. (currently limited to 5 agents)
Server Administrator. (not currently available, but more of a 'coming soon' job for an upcoming expansion)
(ps. yes, we're dreamers)
2013 Update
With a new brand comes new services, as well as the reintroduction of our domain name offerings.
However, let's start with the big stuff first, alright?
We've been working hard to develop our own self-serve advertising platform, and we're happy to finally announce that this platform, although still rather small, is now serving over 100,000 unique visitors each and every month.
The platform isn't ready to go live just yet, and is available only by invitation. We hope to launch it to the public in February of 2014. All DoRoyal customers will be able to advertise to thousands of people absolutely free. That's just one advantage of the new DoRoyal platform. :)
We've also been working on a new plan structure, something that we can offer as a premium service.
We're currently calling this the 'King' plan. Basically, if you are a developer (web/game) you may wish to check this out. With it, you'll have access to a worldwide Content Distribution Network. So, if you happen to require worldwide performance and distribution, you'll need a plan that is fit for a King. :)
Can't really announce much relating to the King plan, as it's still being finalized. Should have more information for you guys within a month or two. :)
(it won't provide unlimited resources, though. However, being as how we're utilizing a cloud infrastructure, you'll probably have a ton of resources to work with. Say, 12 CPU cores per site?)
Oh, and speaking of awesome things, we're also going to bring our domain name registration back into the limelight. However, we're twisting things around a bit.
See, while the other providers keep raising their rates, we plan to lower them. Like, really lower them.
Starting this November, all of our Jester's Plan customers will be able to register up to five domain names, all of which priced at just $6.99 per year. Now, since this is essentially a customer exclusive promotion, you'll have to keep your website hosted with us, or else the domains will go back up to their usual rates. ($13.95 for most TLDs)
Speaking of domains, we're going to push back our DoRoyal.com transfer once again. We keep running into problems when trying to transfer over, and may have to hire some kind of professional to handle it for us.
I'm (Ty) really not an expert when it comes to handling domain names, so moving from one domain to another is a total mystery to me.
I hope to get everything sorted out soon, and will keep you guys updated on the status of this transfer.
Well, that's it for now. Apologies for sounding all PR-like.
ps. if you have an indie game, or if you're an indie developer, send me a private message.
Maybe it's because I'm blind/useless/whatever but to people that don't know much about web hosts, you're selling yourself short.
Your starter package is aimed towards people who don't have clue (IE:me). I honestly thought it was 60gb per year, not month as the only thing I could see which mentioned timescales was the pay x/year.
Might want to make it say that it is per month. (I was happy when I found out).

Thanks for the tip!
I'll be sure to create some kind of FAQ list for our Starter Plan this Saturday.
If anyone has any kind of uncertainties relating to any of our hosted services, please don't hesitate to contact me on FP, or send our support an offline message / ticket onsite. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. (Normally within 15-60 minutes via ticket, 60-100 minutes via offline message and 'eventually' here on FP. Heh)
edit: apologies, running at a bit of a delay right now. Haven't been able to write up a proper FAQ.
Should be able to get this done by Tuesday, if not sooner.
Apologies for the media darkness. We've been restructuring our entire brand from the ground up, as well as improving our hosting infrastructure.
In preparation for future DoRoyal services, we will be making the following changes to our hosting network beginning September 2nd. (today)
1. The King's Plan will be introduced on September 4th, and will contain unmetered disk space and unmetered bandwidth, just like Jester's.
However, the main differences are;
-Bandwidth Priority
-Disk Priority
-Worldwide CDN
Available for $8.95 / month.
(note: worldwide CDN won't be available at launch)
2. Additional Starter Plan terms have been added. It is now possible to order one, two or three years of service for $10, $20 and $30 respectively.
3. Add Funds link has been added to the Portal. (common request)
4. The DoRoyal.com domain name will not be active until October 20th.
That's all for now, guys! Will have more updates for you in a couple of days. (week tops)
King's Plan has been delayed. Quite simply, Jester's already offers pretty much everything, and until we can deploy our CDN, there would be no reason or benefit to sign up for a King's Plan subscription. (although you can still do so, if you'd like. Just go here - http://www.deroyalservers.com/king.php - this 'delay' of sorts is just the public appearance of the plan)
I was trying to figure out what I could possibly offer with the King's Plan to justify the price, and the only thing I could think of was a free .COM domain registration. Unfortunately, that would require that I lose money on every plan sold, and I wouldn't actually make a profit off of the plan until the second month of service, and any profit I do make would be minimal at best.
The odds that someone would abuse this system are high. Since I'd be operating at a loss, I can't take the risk. That's mostly why the King's Plan is down from public view, as I just don't have anything of value to offer subscribers. At least, not at this point in time.
As for an actual update, we're now displaying testimonials on our 'Testimonials' page.
http://www.deroyalservers.com/testimonial.php
Anyone can submit a testimonial, and it's encouraged to do so. Unfortunately, we cannot reward people for writing about us. That's verging on 'bribery' and we're against that sort of thing.
We've also updated the content on a few of our pages, namely our two hosting pages, and our About Us page. This isn't a major update, but an update's an update, right?
As for the domain thing mentioned earlier? That is, the discounted domain name program for all current and future Jester's Plan subscribers?
We're going to delay the launch of this program, at least for a little while longer. It simply isn't profitable as of this point in time. DoRoyal isn't large enough to sustain a 50% discount on all domains sold.
Now, here's Derp-Face the Magical Jester! (because every post needs a little derp)

Ahoy all ye pirates, did ye be knowin' that this day be Talk Like A Pirate Day?
Although our kin'dom ain't too fond 'o them scurvy pirate folk, we thought we would be off 'n host our own wee sale 'o sorts.
Startin' 'tis second, ye can get 33.33% off 'o our Jester's Plan hostin' service. 'tis be sin'le use discount, though. So ye best be hurryin' to reap in th' benefits. Although it isn't much, ye gunna at least be able to save a wee bit 'o doubloons 'tis fine sea felt day. May th' sun shine on ye jolly barnacle-covered ship, 'n host th' digital seven seas like th' true scurvy pirate that ye be.
aka; we've got a discount.
code: IAmAPirateAMA
The code will only work today, and is worth 33.33% off of the advertised price.
It's good for the first month only.
Cheers!
(ps. our royal knights are waaaay cooler than any sea-loving pirate)
What ever happened to "Game Servers Coming Soon?"
What ever happened to "Game Servers Coming Soon?"

Now that I've ended my little rant, I kind of have to recall the statement I made earlier about the launch of our game servers. To be honest, I don't think DRS is currently capable of maintaining a reliable game server hosting network, at least not at this point in time.
The current dedicated servers that we have wouldn't be entirely suitable for hosting game servers, as pointed out by Svenskunganka. (thanks for the tip)
So, we're going to stick with our two website hosting services for now. It's what we're good at, and we've had absolutely no complaints since we launched the platform over a year ago.
To the guy that attempted to register that fake porn domain earlier today... You're a strange individual with even stranger interests.
Facepunch users register the weirdest stuff.
Update regarding sales and support positions
As announced a while back, DoRoyal is looking for 5 support agents and a nearly infinite number of sale agents. Little did I know I would get so many people interested in the support job.
Around one hundred people applied for the support position, while only three applied for sales. As you may imagine, there's a huge backlog of potential applicants I must sort through, and choosing the final five is going to be very difficult. For obvious reasons,we are no longer accepting support applications.
(note: not all of our applicants came through Facepunch, but I'd estimate that a good 20 or so are FP users)
If you're interested in the sales opening, please let me know. Also, if you've previously applied to the support position, you're always welcome to switch over to sales. In fact, given the number of people interested in support, I'd actually go as far as to recommend that you switch over to sales. :)
If you're going to stick with support, expect a waiting period of three to six months before we can reply back to your application.
Oh, and for the random fellow that registered that fake domain? Yeah, your DoRoyal account has been flagged, and your order was denied.
Seriously, if you're going to try to troll DoRoyal, at least enter somewhat believable contact information. ("Please Select" is not an actual state, city or town, nor is that field even a drop down menu. You specifically typed in Please Select)
Although, I can't believe that the domain you tried to register was actually available for registration... you'd think at least someone would have thought of that combination. Props for your cleverness.
Also, just in case your registration was in fact legit, and not an attempt to troll, you're welcome to contact our support department. Although I honestly don't want to know what it is you intend to do with that domain, we'd be happy to register it for you. Your business is your business. :p
How can someone register a fake domain name?
How can someone register a fake domain name?
Would rather not go into details.
The registrant was not a spammer, but rather made a mistake on his original registration attempt.
The domain name that he attempted to register was truly quite funny, and hinted at some form of homosexual content. (of which I cannot explain)
Not sure if he purposely entered in this domain, or if he decided to do so as a joke. No matter, he has since registered for a proper website, and an apology was sent to his Facepunch account.
He was very understanding.
(note: no payment for the original domain was sent, and he is now using a new domain)

(User was permabanned for this post ("Spambot" - Autumn))
Just a heads up; if you happen to receive a direct message from our Twitter account, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK! (caps for importance)
Seriously, one of our business accounts was compromised around thirty minutes ago, and a few of our followers received a direct message containing a link to some kind of parenting website.
As far as we can tell, the @DoRoyalHost account was not compromised. However, the @Sidular account was.
We acted as fast as we could, and managed to regain control of the account within two minutes of it being compromised. Sadly, seven of our followers received a message. This included a few Facepunch users. (Such as Cep)
I'd like to formally apologize for this incident. I've of course changed the password, and am setting up some more advanced security measures that should help prevent this from happening again.
DDOS Attack
At around 11:30 PM September 28th to 1:30 AM September 29th, DoRoyal was hit by a Denial of Service attack, which took down our 'Royal' web server for a short amount of time.
We're still investigating the issues, and will report back once I have a full report.
It's likely I'll host a website here.
Just as reference, are you still looking for support reps?
It's likely I'll host a website here.
Since you plan on hosting with us, I'd like to formally welcome your future self to the kingdom. (future me says hi)
Just as reference, are you still looking for support reps?
Not at this time, no.
Aside from our charming personality and good looks, DoRoyal has been praised for our excellent customer service, our amazing network reliability as well as our continued support of third-party community websites, such as this fine Facepunch community, where we continue to update everyone on our latest company happenings every couple of days.

How are you!I'm new!
So, the free domain is for the site entered in the previous part of the registration process? I'm a doof, and thought it was for a new domain. Either way, it was meant to be an add-on benefit .. ! Regardless, it wasn't my original intention ..
So I suppose hitting the website with 5kbps download requests every 5 seconds is ok?! :)
Edit: Well, make it 1 minute ..

Yup, the free domain name offered is the one that you enter at signup. The domain can either be a new registration, or a transfer.
Also, another yup on the download requests. You're unlikely to notice any slowdowns. :)

Righto
Well, we're having an amazing string of luck as of late. (not really)
Some of our hosted websites and domains were hacked at around 10:00 AM ET on October 16th.
Unfortunately, ten domains were compromised, including some that belonged to our clients.
We're still looking into this, but as of now, it appears to be a vulnerability with the latest WordPress build. However, this could just be a general exploit with PHP itself.
Fortunately, none of our systems were seriously infected. Additionally, the hacker has been identified, and we're treating this as a cyber terrorist attack. This was not a targeted attack against DoRoyal, but rather American IP addresses and datacenters. We just happened to get in his way. (also, not kidding on the cyber terrorist thing, as the hacker claims to be a part of a terrorist cell, and appears to be angry at America for doing something harsh to a random stranger that he's never actually met)
(he's probably just a lonely fatso with no life)
As for the DoS attack mentioned earlier, we were unable to pinpoint the exact location of the attack. Since then, we've implemented some more advanced mitigation services. However, no one's ever truly safe from a DoS attack, and a DDoS attack is just a nightmare. (isn't that right, Sony?)
Here's hoping we don't have to sit through that again...
Here's what we're doing to improve our network security;
1. Installing the CloudLinux operating system, so if a virus is ever uploaded to an account, it won't spread throughout the rest of the shared system.
2. We're removing the soft resource limitation, and enforcing a 75% limit upon all shared hosting accounts. This is unlikely to affect anyone at all, as the average usage is less than 1% per account.
3. Free server upgrades are being replaced with free vps upgrades, so we can get more out of a single dedicated server.
4. We're going to implement an automated backup system that will backup each individual cPanel account. Currently, our systems backup everything, which isn't very convenient if an individual account is compromised.
The backup system will operate once every two weeks, and will provide up to 5GB of free backup space.
Price Adjustment
The below prices are only valid for new DoRoyal customers. (all current customers are being grandfathered, and are not subject to the price increase)
Old Jester's Plan;
Monthly: $4.95
Quarterly: $14.10
Semi-Annually: $26.73
Annually: $50.49
Biennially: $95.04
Triennially: $124.74
New Jester's Plan;
Monthly: $5.95
Quarterly: $17.40
Semi-Annually: $33.00
Annually: $64.20
Biennially: $118.80
Triennially: $160.00
Old Starter Plan
Annually: $10.00
Biennially: $20.00
Triennially: $30.00

New Starter Plan
Annually: $10.60
Biennially: $20.90
Triennially: $31.20
We're also reintroducing prorated billing to our Jester's Plan, and all future clients will be prorated to the first of each month.
So, why are we raising our rates?
Quite simply, our backup / security reserve is running low, and although it is still technically in the green, we don't feel comfortable operating with low funding.
That's why I raised the price by $1. Prorating to the first of each month also makes the income easier to manage.
As for CloudLinux? We've got it mostly up and running, but we're still configuring some things server-side.
The additional PHP versions that CloudLinux provides are not currently available. However, you're welcome to request a different version of PHP now, and we'll add it to your account as soon as it's ready.
Available versions include;
PHP 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5. We're also looking to get a more innovative front-end php.ini editor, so you can pick and choose some of the more advanced features PHP has to offer.
We expect to have CloudLinux fully operational by Wednesday.
Next up on our to-do list is to offer regulated backup services. As already mentioned, backups will run once every two weeks, and can support up to 5GB of backup data.
No exact time frame has been set for our backup services. However, we hope to have them up and running by October 30th.
That's all for now. I still have a ton of work ahead of me, including updating the knowledgebase with accurate information. Heck, adding in more than 50 articles is a definite goal as well.
I also intend to update the affiliate program so it has a higher payout. (thus making it worthwhile)
I'm out for now. Gotta take a pain killer to get rid of this headache. (worked on DoRoyal for 16 hours, practically nonstop)
ps. here's a coupon for a free .COM domain registration.
(valid for a single use only. first come first serve)
thiscouponisfake

(the above coupon is not fake)
go here to register - http://www.deroyalservers.com/domainchecker.php
Woo! free domain!
We've made changes to our affiliate program.
Jester's Plan
You will receive $10.00 for every referred client that signs up.
Starter Plan
You will receive $1.00 for every referred client that signs up.
Domain Names
Domain name registrations do not qualify for commission.
The minimum required for payout is still $20.00.
Whatever happened to the SSH access? I tried connecting the other day and it let me log in, then told me it's been disabled and quit. Granted, I didn't have much use for it anyway, but it was kinda cool to have. I suppose it's part of the new security measures mentioned a few posts up?
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
