Ooor you could just order say 50 pcs from farnell or mouser.... http://uk.farnell.com/texas-instruments/cd4094be/ic-8bit-sipo-shift-register-dip/dp/2257361
I said I could do that, it'd just be neat to walk into a store, grab one, and go without having to wait.
I said I could do that, it'd just be neat to walk into a store, grab one, and go without having to wait.
no, the point is to buy 50 and keep a good stock of them, then you won't have to venture out to get any more. I do a similar thing, however its on a scale of 100s of different components. I have more components then most maplin stores now adays. Stored away in a large blue box and a few sets of draws, also in tubes stuffed down behind my wardrobe... i have far too many.... someone needs to make an inventorying program for hobbiest electronic labs.
someone needs to make an inventorying program for hobbiest electronic labs.
If you search, you'll find more than a few solutions out there. I used to use this before moving onto a selfmade database.
Sadly we cant all afford the kind of capital investment that goes with that!
Then just buy 10 or so. Either way, you will save money in the long run then buying from one of the walk-in stores.

Go dumpster-diving and find old electro-scrap to salvage. That's how I got most of my parts.

126 of the capacitors arrived just over half of them, 124 left for 250 total.. Along with 4 IGBTs. I just got an Arduino Starter kit, I am struggling to work out the colours of the resistors, any way to make this a bit easier?
Are you building some kind of nuclear-bomb or what is it? :v:
Tesla coils, coil guns, railguns who knows. Also, i am willing to sell capacitors at £4 each plus P&P
datasheet doesn't seem to open for me. How much did each of those cost? they look massive. Sure gonna make some neat coil and railguns if you don't melt the coils I guess.

What are the specs on the caps?
each one is 1500uF at 450V designed for 18Arms or somthing iirc, either way they are rather damn fine for most jobs. -------- I also get that blank issue somtimes, its seemingly random to me.
so could I hook up two of my 12v 1a fans in parallel and have the peltier wired in series after them? thus lowering the current going to my peltier to something less than 6a?

Oh god, i just got quite an awesome picture to put things in perspective.... Order in aproximation: 1 Amps (Single IGBT) 16 Amps (Single IGBT) 32 Amps (Single IGBT) 50 Amps (Duel IGBT) 400 Amps (Single IGBT) 300 Amps (Duel IGBT) 600 Amps (Single IGBT) 800 Amps (Duel IGBT) note those valuse near the lower end are aproximate. the smaller ones are often rated higher, but i don't trust them for that high because of thermal transfure.

Plus that's a really unorthodox solution. Do you have a schematic? Why do you have a mosfet and a regulator? What's your voltage source etc.
I bought a starter kit from Amazon too, if that is anything like what I got you'll probably have a painfully short supply of resistors and a switch that doesn't fit the breadboard they gave you. Also this lovely unusable blunder: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30829668/Phone%20photos/IMG_20140509_213122.jpg[/t]
Is this this LED Matrix?

The regulator is so we can power the arduino to run the MOSFET. The MOSFET is so we could have changed the temperature. Its all a relic of our original idea of having bluetooth control as an idea. We've scrapped that, but now we have too much power for our whole project (meaning we need to step down the amperage a bit using the MOSFET) and its too late to order a smaller power supply (which is a 12v 6a wall wart PSU).
and now our mosfet just had a pin break off -.- up shit creek without a paddle now
Heatgun is best tool. Not pictured are some of the various ICs I salvaged off of an old thermostat board. Sadly the chip in the PLCC socket is AWOL because while the board was sitting in the shop at work, some biscuit head decided it would be better if it were removed from its socket and also had all of its pins removed. I DID score one of these bad-boys though, hiding under the stat's LCD screen.
and now our mosfet just had a pin break off -.- up shit creek without a paddle now
Oh darn. I'd say you could drop the voltage regulator. The arduino will run on 12v fine. That might have helped things run cooler...
Which I tried and the arduino nano made a nice popping sound and a sizable cloud of smoke for that teensy thing. 6A=no bueno
I apologize...it should have been applied to pin 30, not 27.
"The Arduino Nano can be powered via the Mini-B USB connection, 6-20V unregulated external power supply (pin 30), or 5V regulated external power supply (pin 27). But yeah it doesn't matter really at this point, I only had one IRL540N since they were expensive as hell to get ($15 because I needed 2 day shipping) and the BUZ91A won't work and I doubt the 530s will work either good to know about the power pin for higher voltage though. Thanks for offering to cover as well
First thing I made with my little boy, we will have some great times :D

(It's actually blinking) Next one is RPM for Asseto Corsa, since its kinda manstream isnt it? :v:
