I'll give that a try, thanks. From past experiences with them I think they'll most likely just tell me to turn my router off and on again :v:
I imagine Tiscali might not talk to me as I'm neither a customer nor have a peering with them - worth calling them when you have the chance.
Yeah, it's still there. I'm off to a great start considering I can't even find their email address or number on their obnoxious site.

I doubt it. [editline].[/editline] I believe Tiscali IT's NOC is pcaocci@it.tiscali.com
Gonna email some harsh swear words and insults
Gonna email some harsh swear words and insults
Looks like it's deliberate - got this from our provider:
We are working on this issue, we will let you know when Tiscali has stopped blocking our prefix.
Our US provider's been great so far; I imagine they'll get this sorted out much faster than either of us could by pestering Tiscali. [editline].[/editline] Should be sorted now.

Thanks, you're great. I rate you 10/10 in customer support.
Damn, I don't know what kind of hardware your provider uses, but they've been "rebooting a router" for the past hour and a half. Not a complaint towards Afterburst at all but this is pretty fucking ridiculous of them. I wonder how's their redundancy; routers are piss easy to make redundant.
Chances are if they are "rebooting a router" it will be for a good reason and they are probably trying to sort the problem so it doesn't happen in the future.
My post didn't claim it was ridiculous to reboot a router. It claimed that it was ridiculous that rebooting a single router caused downtime of an hour and a half. I can reboot a router at work and -nobody- will notice because we have more than one per site. And yes, the reason was they wanted to fix intermittent packet loss. I'm glad they did because I was about to open a ticket about it :)
Yup, unfortunately something went wrong when they brought the router back up (they've not explained what exactly); it was down for 36 minutes according to Pingdom. Hopefully it should be the end of the intermittent packet loss :)

Excellent support, don't expect instant activation (took them basically the 24 hours they said it might take) but the support ticket was replied to in about 3 minutes. Had to drop them for now, client backed out on wanting a VPS. Definitely keeping you guys in mind though.
"We are currently running a 30% lifetime discoun on all plans." how does one take use of this?
I believe it's over now. he couldn't change the title of the thread.
It says so in the post as well, though.
Highly recommend these guys. I've plugged them before, I'll just cross-post one:
Throwing in a recommendation for http://afterburst.com/ (Formerly Fanatical). I've been with them for over a year on the "Huge" plan and I can honestly say I have no complaints. They offer servers located in Germany and the US. Their prices, in my opinion, are spot on. The servers perform fine, as far as I can tell they haven't oversold on any of the nodes I've occupied, they're big enough so you don't have to worry about buying a server for a year and them going under 3 months later, and most of all they aren't tight-arsed concerning their unmetered data as I've found some hosts to be. Posting here hoping to bring attention to someone from Afterburst. I have a ticket open but I've been waiting a while. If someone is awake I cannot use my server and it has been so for the past 2-3 hours.
Should be all fixed now, Jack took a look 3 hours ago then we worked out the problem :)
edited. I've been working back and forth with jack and this issue makes no sense at all to me. I don't recall doing -anything- that would cause this sort of problem. EDIT: We finally made it work with a horrible hack, I'm gonna try and figure out what happened.
For anyone on the fence, I just opened a ticket about a problem I had (minor software issue) and had it fixed within 2 minutes of opening the ticket. Bloody excellent service these guys are running.
I knew I'd regret waiting to buy the VPS. 3 months after christmas should be a giveaway. But it won't stop me, so I don't care.
FYI: we're 3 this month and (albeit a few weeks late) we're having a 25% lifetime discount sale (no coupon needed). Plus if you're a Facepuncher (obviously) - add coupon "FACEPUNCH5" for a further 5%. Technically it's really 5% off the already discounted price.
Can you add the discount to a already existing vps :v:
We can only really do this if you ordered in the last two weeks; I can apply the 5% Facepunch discount if you like though - just send shoot me an email: nick@afterburst.com
How much profit do you make in the end with all these sales?
Enough :) - we'd never run a sale where we make a loss on each VM.
Awe :v: Considering all other VPS cost like $100 for the mid-range specs of your VPS, I find it amazing.
Any news on the server location change?
Any news on the server location change?
Expect updates in the next few weeks, we're definitely moving, most likely to another German provider rather than NL though.
