Do they accept people without degree?
I'm pretty sure that most development companies gladly do it if you can show your skill otherwise.
That said, what they'll pay is very different e.g. here in Germany depending on your certifications.
Getting my cs degree first, then prop. a job in some Software development business. But the car industry is also interesting in Germany, so I'm not sure yet :v:
Go for car industry, it must be awesome. You might play a part with self driving cars or robotics or some stuff like that.
Get into the faking clean emissions business
I personally would like to go into game development, but if I can't I'll do something involving programming (most likely). Things can change a lot over the next 2 - 3 years so I'll just have to see where I go.
Welp, shit this isn't in Fast Threads like I thought it was.
If I were to do video games I'd ideally want to be indie and as far away from companies like EA, but that's not entirely viable. I'd rather design applications and websites instead.
I'm a webdeveloper (not designer), but this is more a "side job", despite me earning above average compared to other students. I could easily live off this, but I really want to get my diploma so I have an academic title.

My friend passed up film stuff simply because people always need a website.
I'd love to be an indie developer who releases a one-off success that's genuinely quite a good game, but have it shrouded in ambiguous messages to provoke interpretation discussion so I can live out the rest of my life talking about my design philosophy.
Up until last year in around April, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do. I was about to finish my first year of my 2 year college course, I was somewhat beginning to shit myself. For some reason I BSd saying I could web stuff, which I couldn't. Sooner or later I realised that I should probably learn just a little bit so I didn't end up looking like a cock.
I had begin learning it all January that year but didn't really enjoy it until April. Then in May, I entered World Skill's web design/development competition, won, got through to the UK final eventually which was around this time last year. At the time, I didn't know PHP much at all, so I lost, but I came really close to winning (PHP let me down). It was then that I decided I wanted to do it full time, and now, this year back in September, I got my first job which is as a full time web designer and developer for all the major schools where I live. I think I fell really lucky with it all if I'm honest, especially with the job, my first ever interview got me my first job and it's the job I really want to do.
Working towards Civil Engineering over here. Mainly learning programming to parse data for research, large calculations, and whatever I need at the time.
I'd like to basically do whatever I feel like at the moment. Right now it's gamedev, and maybe within the next few years it'll be animation again. or maybe i'll get into woodshop or something, i dunno. I just sorta follow my heart and see where it goes, and hopefully make enough from my current project so i dont have to spend the next project frugally.
Aiming for Game Programming, or engine programming. But I try to get as much programming experience from other than games (databases, networking etc. are also interesting).
Whatever I end up doing, it probably involves programming to some degree.
I want to create a new world :class:
I would love to be a Game Dev. Creating something amazing and sharing it with others is a great feeling.
Also, I had a quick question. I am heading into college soon with intent to get a Bachelors in Information Systems. Would this be beneficial to me? (getting a bachelors in IS)

Depends on the curriculum really and classes you'll take. The title implies it might be more IT related instead of CS related. As a developer there's a difference but to businesses anything dealing with computers is considered IT.
In my current situation, I'm not really sure as to what I want to do when I finish my degree.
I'm currently pursuing a BSC with a dual concentration in Software Engineering and Information Technology and am currently learning Java, SQL, Web Development (HTML/JS/CSS) and Network Security (in a Linux environment with heavy emphasis on shell scripting). I'll be taking C++ soon and have taken (and going to take more of) robotics classes.
I'm leaning more so towards IT, so right now I'm trying to get an internship lined up somewhere for the summer. Does anyone have suggestions as to what might perhaps be an interesting career/career path for someone interested in both IT/Software Dev?

what do you see yourself doing everyday?
Software dev is more like CS. IT is more like setting up computers and networks for businesses.
My job criteria comes down to...
- Be able to learn new things and push myself most days
- Be able to do a balance of technical (programming primarily) and creative work (design, sound, things like that)
- Be involved in, or at least able to weigh in on, decision making
Generally this stuff means I prefer working at smaller companies where I get to wear a lot of hats and work closely with the people who are "in charge" (although the less boss-like they are the better). I've done web dev and design at a few small startups that fit all these things really well and loved it. Now I'm doing sound design and some development at Facepunch and loving it :)

Probably more-so Software dev-ing. I'm thinking something along the lines of data science or serverside software engineering.

Considering I'm not currently looking for a job (since I'm pursuing my degree), I can't really say for certain what I'm looking for yet in terms of job criteria, but I definitely want to be doing something fulfilling, knowing that all of my efforts are indeed being seen/felt (which is why I also mentioned WebDev earlier). I'm looking at internships with General Dynamics or EMC/RSA currently.
You should get an internship. It's a good "try before you buy" kind of thing

That's the plan. Hopefully it'll provide some insight that'll lead me to actually making a decision :v:
I'm definitely going to try and get an internship at some game studio during my summer break. I didn't take advantage of my free time earlier and now I'm stuck
I just want to work in IT. I don't like my current job. I hope I can learn to math in time for my first semester of college 2 months away.
me too. I do wish to work in IT, it would be quite awesome
Database administration. It sounds boring to most people but I fucking love it.
Completly! I really love databases too, i thought i were crazy!
I am doing work with database right now, backend stuff, and it's nice. Fucking hard, but nice.
I can't wait when I get it all working. It will be like invisible magic.
I wouldn't mind teaching programming.
Trying to find the least unpleasant way to get into theoretical electrical engineering
Theoretical and engineering are kind of contradictory though so I'm pretty much fucked
What am I even doing in the programming section
