The further a point is from a light source, the darker it is. If you know the light position you can deduce the point position.
I feel like most of the people saying that JS is bad, that it is the worst language ever, pure cancer, period, have not used it long enough, or not used it at all.
It's like any other programming language out there, it has good parts and some problems.
Some more progress on my math thingy.

Implemented a (terrible) basic lexer/tokenizer. Now it does order of precedence correctly, and also works as intended with parantheses. Pretty happy with it so far. This is very cool stuff.

Are we talking languages? Here, have some love for Ruby:

At least there's proper classes.
(Seriously though, what's wrong with Ruby?)
I got my first "Work for free and then we can split the profits" offer. My friend asked if I could help her friend with his HTML5 game. He wanted me to help him take a game that's going opensource soon, reskin it, and then release it on steam. He wanted to change the characters into Pepe the Frog.
:speechless:

Making weird-ass animated fonts (~20 rn) and procedural backgrounds. It's gonna be part of a big rpg but I'm almost having too much fun to work on the gameplay.
Oh, does anyone know good recording software? Fraps refuses to record opengl, and windows 10 and shadowplay won't record at all. VLC is ultra-choppy and OBS looks blurry for reasons I can't figure out, no matter what the bitrate is.
Edit: I 100% lied. Gameplay programming has begun.

It has 15 levels not including the two tutorial levels. I haven't done an audio or art pass yet so there aren't many sound effects and 90% of planets look exactly the same. I'm also gonna have a few more testing releases with more different types of gameplay mechanics so there's more stuff planned, I just haven't had time to get to it yet.

Been working on the scale of the environments, trying to find a good balance. Mostly just dicking about with horns.

The boss found out that I can program games and wants me to build some for Apple Watch, as all the existing ones suck.
I've published a new C++14 tutorial video:

This episode of "Dive into C++14" shows how to write your own `std::unique_ptr` generalization - a "generic unique resource" wrapper that supports any kind of handle.
The third tutorial in the "Dive into C++14" series covers the implementation of a generic "unique resource" class, with the same ownership semantics as "std::unique_ptr", but not limited to pointer-like handles.
The tutorial shows the implementation of the resource class and the abstraction of the behavior of several resource types (heap-allocated pointers, OpenGL VBOs, int-based-handle APIs).
It also shows a simple implementation of "scope guards" as unique resources, to show how abstracting "uniqueness semantics" can be useful even in unexpected situations.
Looking forward to your feedback :)
A colleague of mine was telling me that at one point, there were more Matts in the office than there were women. Social scientists are rightly researching why there aren't more women in the software industry, but I think someone desparetely needs to find out why there are SO MANY MATTS

And I look forward to the day that I've advanced enough that I can understand this Swahilli you just uploaded!
(In seriousness, I've been slowly teaching myself C++ through videos and books while fucking around with Arduino on the side, and thus-far I'm at the point where classes, structs, and other such Chapter 8-onwards topics are completely alien to me :v: )

It's I believe my first actual programming project since I started studying Computer Science. A huge chunk of the work has been proofing it against SQL injections and such. I understand why security breaches are so commonplace nowadays.

Not much to show as of yet, as I've been doing mostly optimizations, however I noticed a few problems with some of my past shadowing and did a load of bugfixes.
Namely, I added the option for level creators to specify what level of detail they want from a spot light

Also, since I'm always thinking up things that I need to do, I've been wondering if there is a better way of keeping track of things that need to get done.
Do you guys know of or use any "To Do" systems or something along those lines?
I'm not a fan of keeping stickynotes everywhere listing things because sometimes priorities shift and other things need to go on the backburner.
