Today I set out to implement level fog, and ended up implementing rim lighting instead.
I totally forgot rim lighting was a thing, so I just extracted it out of my fog shader and applied it as a post-processing effect.

So I need to test my distribution skills, and see if this executable actually runs on other systems.
But there's a catch, its no ordinary executable, it's one that uploads the following to a server:

It's a simple OpenGL triangle (OpenGL 3+) and automatically uploads the results to the server. The results can be viewed here. Because you know, analytics that are half broken are half the fun! Report any problems running it (that's the entire point).
Aside from that, i'm going through and rewriting my game (again again) and holds absolutely no value other than uploading granny names :v: because it can only display triangles at the moment.
Also, why did google deprecate their analytics c++ library?
edit:
ouch it didn't merge

It reported my build number as 9200 instead of 10586. According to Nvidia my card can do OpenGL 4.1 but it says 2.1. A for effort.
Automerge is limited 30 minutes (maybe an hour) IIRC.

the sfx dat file also looks like this so you just strip the cetrailer from it and run it through my program.

As far as I know the command i'm using to get the opengl number only reports the window's built-in opengl support, not the GPU's. Thank OpenGL and SDL for providing absolutely no useful functions for getting that number.

Cheat Engine allows you to create trainers which include the Cheat Engine base along with the Cheat Engine table which stores the basic offsets and memory edits a user would of created, they allow this to be saved in an ‘encrypted’ manner to stop script kiddies from stealing each others CE tables. The author stated in the source code that this is very trivial however stops most of the idiots who have no idea what they are doing stealing tables.

It's just there to stop script kiddies lol
I managed to implement 2 types of fog:
Generic exponential squared fog, for hiding low quality lod models far away from the camera
[t]http://i.imgur.com/KBJ6BOe.png[/t]
And ground level fog / atmospheric fog
[t]http://i.imgur.com/i6eYfOS.png[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/VF33QD9.png[/t]
I don't really get all the vars and logic behind the atmospheric fog, so I just kinda tweaked some vars until I got it to look like spooky fog one would find near a swamp or something in a game.
I can see the applications though, super simple to emulate a deep down glowing effect:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/UGm2LqD.png[/t]
The examples here are all amplified to demonstrate the effect. They can easily be placed into a scene by putting a single component for either type of fog into the level. It should in theory work with more than 1 even
I'm visiting my parents this weekend, because free food and waiting for Fallout 4 anyway.
I stumble across this 'letter-logic' game in my mom's magazine. I couldn't figure it out, and it frustrated me so much that I wrote a program that solves it for me. I have no idea how to solve it by hand, but the 'game' is like this:

The words are Danish, but it doesn't really matter as it's about logic and not vocabulary.
So, by generating a list of words according to the letters we are supplied and only generating unique words, I get 5000 words, which I all check. It takes like a second. And the answer is NEKTAR.
the sourcecode is here, it's just a standard c# program: http://pastebin.com/eLv4X7SE
...is there a simpler way to find the answer? :v:
You can actually get 200 DKKR if you send your answer. I'm guessing they just pick a random answerer.
Re-implemented skeletal animations.

added some ranged attacks to the video game
「BOLT BARRAGE」 - shoots a lot of arrows really fast

「CHARGE SHOT」 - charges your aura and release it as arrows

「PERFURATING SHOT」 - shoots arrows that pierces enemies once

「AURA BURST ARROW」 - shoots an arrow that attaches itself to an enemy and explodes 1 second later. Aura explosions chain react and will explode other nearby attached arrows
I turned off the swap file because there is no point having Windows swap things out with 10GiB free, so instead it's got 12GiB of files cached in there.
I can't speak for Windows, but I know Linux will put stuff that's rarely (or if ever) used in the swap, leaving more available room for file caching/use (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swappiness) which increases performance in low memory enviroments.
I typically have my laptop's swappiness normal so unused allocations go to the swap, leaving more for Chrome/or whatever; that laptop has 3.1GB (IIRC), so it speeds up the computer quite a bit when using Chrome. Disabling swappiness (so it avoids swapping old unused memory, and keeps it in RAM) on my laptop results in it actually running slower. Meanwhile, my PC has 16GB, and a high swappiness results in it getting slow when doing uncommon tasks that require data in the swap. I never approach anywhere near full RAM on my PC, even with a few VMs running, so I made it swap only when it runs out of RAM and swapping is required (though I put my swap on my HDD, and not my SSD, but I could change that if it ever becomes a problem).
