In the end, it's just fluff :p i put in the extra effort to make sure it updates and contains data, that wasn't necesary. In the end, it fits in more then a pen signature since it's also blocky.
QoL/fluff things are really lacking in games nowadays IMO. I like having random items that do random things, random UI fluff, etc, really adds character.
Almost didn't post this, but I figured you guys would like it.
A friend of mine said he wanted to start learning Unity, so I ended up teaching him the basics of Unity and some of C#.
He followed along with me and ended up creating a Flappy Bird type of game, annd he got to choose the artwork..

So yes, I taught him how to make a Flappy bird clone where you play as a Burger that jumps Squidwards. :v:

Yeah. The QR code is not updating correctly. And i'm putting more time into it then needed. But i want it correctly or not at all, so yeah.
Update: Bugs you guys found fixed.

Just managed to make proper and constant slowmotion. Maybe you've seen or tried to change host_framerate, but the problem is that it depends on rendered FPS (host_framerateother than 0 turns off FPS lock for some reason), so the game goes slower or faster at times anyway. It's fixed now by changing of host_framerate each frame to proper value, it doesn't really affect performance.
[sp]I want to make HALF-PAYNE[/sp]
I've been practicing and learning a lot of UI in Unity. It's something I've never spent a lot of time on, as I like working on game systems instead.
I found some great examples that gave me some inspiration and showed me some new ways to approach it that I had never thought of before. Stuff like using the built in interfaces (like IPointerEnterHandler, IPointerExitHandler, and so on) makes handling button related things so much easier. It's stuff that should be mentioned in the documentation or official tutorials, but it's not.
One thing I paid special attention to was making sure that it works at arbitrary resolutions and aspect ratios. That's thankfully a hell of a lot easier with the new GUI tools, but there were some specific things like the swiping in animations that I had to take special care to make sure they were always valid. I learned a lot about animations in general while working on this.
I decided to copy Freelancer's menu because it offers a few interesting little challenges such as the way it animates, plus I just really like Freelancer.

So uuh. It turns out that my hit detection was completely broken. Today I fired up the game, and only 30% of my hits in multiplayer were registering
This was a fairly annoying issue to debug, but now its fixed. What's stranger though is that this had absolutely no symptoms prior to this. Its been totally and utterly broken since I implemented FFA, yet it just sort of worked regardless

In shadowrun, nearly everyone (even poor people), run around with a PDA. So having QR codes as signature confirmation or so is something that could happen. But like i said, it's fluff. Visually, it fits in. Thematically, it kinda adds up since people are just goods in Shadowrun. It functions, even though it doesn't really need to.

I haven't tried that, it will probably be a lot of work to get the SteamVR stuff running in edit mode.

Dude something like this could be huge for archvis and all of that. Really impressive. Jealous you're making so many cool things with VR, I bet it's fun.

I've really got interested in archvis recently. For a few months now I've been working on a realtime archvis building game because I kept seeing videos of cool looking archvis scenes in UE4 but wanted to give the average person simple tools to create their own.
I've wrote a little script for our arma group's server. It displays the status of the arma server and teamspeak server in the message of the day, which is displayed on connecting via ssh.
I had to use steam query to get the data of the arma server (really just a bit of udp-vomit you have to kinda sorta parse), and read the startup file to get the currently loaded mods. The temspeak data is accessed via teamspeak's server query (a real PITA)

If you want to make it correct generate a private/public key pair for the player on save data creation, hash the form data (256bit+), sign that (256bit+) and then make a QR code that has the signature :eng101:
[del]The SIN looks like it needs 11 bits at most, so even with ECC it makes more sense to but it into a specialised 16 bit 2x8 block code aligned through paper markers.[/del] [editline]edit[/editline] Nevermind, I multiplied instead of calculating the power. Pretty sure it's less than 65 bits though. If you just encode that it's nowhere close to a signature though.
Personally I think both signature or proper digital signature as QR would be cool, but repeating just the SIN in the Signature field doesn't make much sense if anyone looks into it more closely. If you go with a proper signature QR code consider flipping the colours (or setting them explicitly) so it's possible to scan it normally.

You can now change floor / ceiling heights, place doors and windows, and remove walls for things like mezzanines.

The Shadowrun source books are inconsistent about SINs. A standard SIN is 12 alphanumeric digits in 3 blocks of 4. But they do the SINs in many different ways while disregarding that rule.
So 5T2G-8U6V-PK02 is valid. But suddenly 29Δ7–36fΔ972-lk83◊0mv is valid as well. So i'm taking it my own way and will be consistent in it.

As i said, it's fluff. So it doesn't NEED to work, but i want it to :P But while building up all the dataclasses and such, i keep changing what the QR encodes to. At the moment it encodes something like this: AZTC-v48k-dvqa-dlhi/26JM
It's basically: 4 digits denoting residency (in this case Aztechnology, because in Shadowrun, AAA corporations are technically their own country as long as it's on corporation property). 12 digits which is just a random identifier. And then the 26JM is Age, firstname initial and lastname initial (testperson is called John Miller). But i'll keep building it up while working on it :)
What did you use to scan btw? I just inverted the colors so it better fits in with the background (so white on black). I used QR Droid to check and it reads them just fine. Does this one work for you?

I prototyped some simple stuff by changing a bunch of scripts to execute in edit mode and forcing the render loop, but the interaction logic still remains.
Unity is working on "Edit Mode VR" themselves so I'll just wait till they have something up and running.

Google Goggles and Barcode Scanner, neither recognises it.
A white on black QR code doesn't match the specification at all afaik, which also means QR Droid technically has broken the license agreement for the technology (or at least the trademark, if they use it and run the algorithm both on a normal and an inverted image).

Hmm... Perhaps single-character markov chains aren't the way to go. Left is based off of 711 Pokémon names, and right is 100k+ US city/town names... or was it the other way around? :v:
