Figured out the problem. The power supply had short protection and was being a bitch. It was seeing the 4ohm load as a short. I changed the 1k resistor with a 120ohm one too.

why are the screw holes on an Arduino (Uno) not in line with eachother
was it [I]really[/I] that hard to place them in a rectangular setup like for example the raspberry has.
After I get my sleep schedule into a working state this week, I'm going to try and draw up an Uno in KiCad.
I've been meaning to design my own Uno for a while, except replace the stock USB header with microUSB, remove the stupid gaps on the IO pins, and figure out some sort of standard configuration for the screw holes.
If I have space, I want a 2x5 male pin row that plugs into ground, I2C and hardware SPI, so I can just plug my logic analyzer straight into the board.
I've never used KiCad so I figured that should be simple enough to learn it with.
Oh and instead of the extra microcontroller, I'm going to use CH340G for serial-UART, it's cheap, readily available, and easy to solder.

They were an afterthough.
Same reason there's a odd spacing between two of the pin rows, so you can't make a shield with regular protoboard, although that's also a design flaw they never bothered to correct.
Also only the A+ B+ and B2 rPI's have mounting holes in a rectangular pattern, the previous models didn't, and the first revision of the A and B sold to the public didn't have any mounting holes at all.
The B had two holes in it.
Not exactly helpful though.

I have one of the original Pi's and it doesn't have any holes, luckily I have it in a case so it doesn't really matter. I fully understand what you mean about the Uno though.

Time to start donating all the equipment to the EE thread's secret volcano base think tank. :v:
Master plan is that equipment I end up not needing or is beyond what I can repair is loaned out to the Kamloops and Vancouver hackspaces for them to mess with. Condition is I get the gear back when they need to get rid of it so I can find another home for it for free as to avoid them trying to flip it.
Anyways, spent an hour talking and fiddling with ddrl regarding the issues with the 2245B. Found out almost immediately it's not a 2245B but an earlier version that someone put the newer front on. Second was that the CPU was functioning but the display was totally misbehaving. Eventually I was feeling around the back to see if the fan was running and boom, the screen locked in and after adjusting the focus and position it was perfect.
