how do you use it in garrysmod though?
You don't
Would this be able to do automatic ragdoll poses in Garry's Mod somehow?
No Since when did we use motion capture in Garrysmod? This is for animating in general, not specifically gmod.
This thing is a bitch. When you download the trial you need a trial key, which you get by registering with their forums and you can't register with the forum because it takes them fucking forever to send the activation e-mail. [editline]09:55PM[/editline] Also also if somebody wants my free trial key that lasts for 30 days: 3f658e0d79bffa791d6665bdffc1101869929b9104554960ff4f445e1591edf8
Shit I have a webcam, but I need 2 of them . . . FFFFFFFUUUUUUUU-
Shit I have a webcam, but I need 2 of them . . . FFFFFFFUUUUUUUU-
Doesn't it work with one?
Keeps crashing whenever I tell it to start capturing, which I'm not even sure is the start capture button because it doesn't tell me anything. Fuuuuuu
At me everything works now, but he thinks the shadows around the dancer(ytvideo) is the actor -.-
That video by mm3guy just used the demo animation, the one that's displayed in one of the vids on the website, but has anyone actually tried to capture anything with this program?
I have tried it a bit, and it was mildly successful except for some retarded arm spazzing
Seems like this would be, at best, a way to make a good template to take the setup work out of animating. Though at $250 you're better off just buying a digital camera with video recording and a treadmill then separating out the frames in the video and posing the model yourself. Or you can just download a video with a good match for your subject and use that. Or, though this is a bit harder, you can decompile a Source model and overlay your model over it and match the pose and timing of the animation. I've done this using the Antlion Guard to create animations for an Allosaurus.
Doesn't it work with one?
Well if you record with one it'll be like recording in 2D . . . like the 2nd demo video where the software couldn't even arrange the arms on the man's hips. That's why you need 2 cams for 2 different angles to record, so then the software should be able to capture full 3D data on all 3 axis X,Y,Z.
Really, you probably wouldn't set up the 3 cameras on an X Y Z setup. Probably more of an X Y then some angle midway between X Y and Z.
Is it possible to show it two clips of the same thing but from different angles?
If you can't afford professional mocap wouldn't it be easier to use rotoscoping? Yeah, it will take a lot of time but at least no need to spend 950$ for some software...
True, the software is really expensive.
