When Homestar Runner said he has low-polygon count, he's not kidding. o.o
Can anyone tell me why when I smoothed out homestar's model that it went all dark on certain parts of it?
[img_thumb]http://i55.tinypic.com/9qb66p.jpg[/img_thumb]
Looks like it's due to the way the model/texture was made. Try playing around with the lightwarps a bit.
EDIT:
Possibly due to the model's polycount. You won't be able to fix the light glitches unless you somehow add more polygons I'm guessing.
But like I said on page 1(or 2), I'm no modeler, so I wouldn't know.
I do know that someone made a Homestar model on Google Sketchup, and there are HL2 SMD plugins for Sketchup with the Source SDK. See where I'm getting?
Okay I think I fixed it. I just need to do some more tweaking. I went back to before I attached all the separate parts and before I smoothed it and then I clicked on the leg and attached everything to that and then I used edit poly and clicked the 1 smoothing group. Now I just need to vertex weld and delete stuff and maybe repair some holes. BTW the green outline of the picture is like that because I rendered it with a green background and for some reason tinypic ignored that. I think I might have welded some points on the face before attaching it to the leg and smoothing in. Also to get the inside of the mouth I had to make a copy of the head and flip the polygons to get the inside of the mouth filled and I textured it with the gray color.

Your welcome, I'm glad people are liking this. I actually wasn't sure if I would get much people who wanted this because the Homestar Runner cartoons don't seem as popular as they should be. I mean I didn't think that the game would be a big hit but I thought it would at least raise some eyebrows and get people really wanting to try it out.

YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa
Ignore that last letter, I had to add it so it would be in all caps.
Also, now that I know how to model, I could rig up a Homestar playermodel once you release the Homestar model.

I actually thought of doing that, and making him an NPC too since he seems to have a rather easy body structure. For the arms and hands we could just make invisible arms and hands or if its possible to just not rig the arms and hand bones and have them just move the weapon on its own.
Only problem I have with the Homestar playermodel making:
I ONLY HAVE THE MILKSHAPE 3D DEMO.
I just need the full version, then I'll be able to actually save files.

My progress on a Homestar playermodel. I'm using some other Homestar model someone made in Sketchup and I'm trying to find a way to put the Valve skeleton onto it. Not releasing the finished model until I get the original creator's permission.

Hey, any new progress on your Homestar model, Shock?
[editline]31th March 2011[/editline]
Just bought MilkShape 3D last night. The key for it should arrive today, since PayPal processed the order by hand.

That's a good test to do for the playermodel while I'm working on the official model. Sorry I haven't gotten time to work on the model. I just got done playing the new episode of the Back to the Future game.
Are you going to rip more props like the Nunchuk Gun?

More progress on the Homestar playermodel. I rigged it to the "valve_skeleton.ms3d" that came with MilkShape 3D. I can't save it yet since I have the demo.
Are you going to rip more props like the Nunchuk Gun?
Yeah, and all the dangeresque, or however you spell that, stuff and characters.
any new progress shots of Homestar yet?

It's pretty good now. So many freakin' tweaks were done. I just noticed a little tweaking that needs to be done on the shirt and then it should be fine.

Edit: This model is giving me more trouble than Homsar did.

Fantastic!

You're doing a good job with these telltale models.
Will Monkey Island characters be on the cards?

Perhaps. Though I have not gotten to playing those games yet.

Faceposing wise is giving you an issue?
Also, an idea for Homsar: Make a version with the hat being faceposable. Like, movements for up and down and such, so that it doesn't have to be such a hastle when trying to lip sync him.

Ooo, that's a good idea. I'll work on that after Homestar
Homestar is almost complete, I just want to know from people, should I make an alternate version without the hat or not?
Can it be bodygrouped?
Can it be bodygrouped?
Possibly. I'll see what I can do. But don't expect a release saturday, I got a really busy day.
Damn, you're pretty quick at doing this.
I hate to bump, but just checking to see how things are going so far.

Finished my Homestar playermodel.
Haven't tested it though, but if it works, expect a release.
NOTE: It's not textured yet.

I would just use that as a test and not release it because I have just completed the REAL Homestar model. Check it out!

Texture effects not in image, texture effects have been applied in the download. So I forgot them and then I remembered to put them on so don't worry. Homestar will have the same lighting effects as Strong Bad in the download.
