Ok, time for me to put on my critics hat. The main problem I find with that video is that it lacks impact because the music seems to be off by a second, I understand that there was a copyright issue with the first soundtrack but if that happens then try this, it has worked for me in the past. Also you need to try an make the video seem faster, at the moment the car always seems to be going quite slowly, try putting the camera closer to the ground and experiment with appropriate sound effects matching the action of the vehicle. This may also be because of the slow music, I understand that this may just have been the beginning of the video and it may have gotten faster later on but these are just things to remember. Other things that you could try: - A greater range of transitions. - Make sure that the camera is always focused on the car (0:24 - 0:26). - When you show actors that are key to the scene make sure the camera is closer to them. - Colour correction maybe to suit the mood of the song. - Experiment with some special effects if you can: camera shake, blur (in controlled amounts). I did like the shot from 0:34 to 0:39, that was very well done. In fact throughout the video the camera movements themselves were excellent, it's just that you need to work on audio/visual synchronisation.
Ok, thanks for the C&C As i did point out in the videos infomation box, this was a test for the edtor that i downloaded, but that diden't work. i also said that i did do it in single player ( i coulden't do both vehicles driving away because i was the only person) and yes the camera shot that you mentioned was out and i did notice, but i just wanted to put it up quickly and diden't really want to go back into the game to shoot it again (also it wzs pretty hard to match the speed of the camera to the car.) but i will take this all into mind when i do the charger Also curse me for using it but i am using WMM at the moment.
Say, do you think this car could feature VU-Mod passenger seats? (I don't care about lights/horn because I can't use them) Also, door animations would be pretty sweet as well. And once you model the interior, a full collision model for that would be nice. Just so we can throw people/contraband in the back. :ninja:
but i will take this all into mind when i do the charger.
Good man.
i also said that i did do it in single player ( i coulden't do both vehicles driving away because i was the only person)
Being in single player doesn't mean you have to limit yourself, after all I filmed the whole of The Gman's Day Out 2 by myself and in some scenes there were more than 10 cars being driven by me at the same time. Use the vehicle console commands on the Fueled Mod Vehicle pack forum thread and you can control as many cars as you need. I promise that once this model is done that I will finish my long overdue vehicle tutorial.
Say, do you think this car could feature VU-Mod passenger seats? (I don't care about lights/horn because I can't use them) Also, door animations would be pretty sweet as well.
That was always the plan from the beggining. As for door animations I will see about that, it's not something that has ever been done before so it could be difficult or it could be easy, I can't really say at the moment. Also do you have Sgt.Sgts Vehicle pack installed, or any other addons that contain VU-Mod? If you remove the VU-Mod files from those packs and re-install the standalone VU-Mod (v2.6) then it should work, I had the same problem as you but doing that fixed it.
And once you model the interior, a full collision model for that would be nice. Just so we can throw people/contraband in the back. :ninja:
I'm not sure about a 'full' collision model (major instruments, steering wheel) due to performance limits of Source, but I may be able to do an open area inside with some seats. If there is too much detail then it can use up a lot more resources even in relatively simple collisions, having a whole ragdoll in the car is likely to just cause a 'black hole' incident unless you have a high power multi core processor. If the collision model is relatively simple then it won't cause as many problems. I will need to see about how detailed to make it closer to the time.
I tried that. I even re-installed Garry's Mod (Which I now regret doing), and it still didn't work.
It Lives! I suppose I will get back to work on the Dodge now, maybe I will do a sound sample as well.
Oh, that video made me laugh!
Oh, that video made me laugh!
Really, what's so funny? It's only a test of my practice vehicle rig to see that I have made it correctly.
Really, what's so funny? It's only a test of my practice vehicle rig to see that I have made it correctly.
Thats what i was thinking.
Really, what's so funny? It's only a test of my practice vehicle rig to see that I have made it correctly.
It's just that it looks so ridiculous (No offense, I know it's just a test) - mixed with the words 'It lives' it gave it the Frankenstein feel... except it looked hilarious.
Well I just did some tests in gmod and I have found for some bizarre reason whenever you turn on the handbrake, even if you've set it to only affect the front wheels, it will actually stop all power to any of the wheels so you just stand still and nothing happens. Basically it disengages the virtual clutch as soon as you use the handbrake. The only way I can see of being able to fix that would be to edit the source code of gmod/hl2 to change this feature or do something really hacky with lua to do the same. So I guess there isn't going to be any of this in gmod any time soon. But I guess we can still do this.
JESUS CHRIST! THAT WAS LOUD! Anyways, GOOD WORK ON THE MODEL!
I just noticed that the old sound samples had been deleted from filefront so I have reuploaded them and the links work now. I am currently working on the third sound sample which I am hoping to finish over the weekend. In other news I have one week left of school so things are pretty busy at the moment getting all the work finished so don't expect too much progress on the model until I'm actually finished.
is the car in the video done ?
is the car in the video done ?
That's just a test rig, it's not going to be released.
Third sound sample is finished, sorry it's a bit later than I said.
I'm really digging the third sound sample from the bunch so far. It has the old school growl to it that really sets it apart from most other cars.
OMG i really can't wait for the charger
Does anyone know about criminal activities last night? I had relatives visiting and I hope they were sound asleep by 11-11:30 pm, when I heard several rounds fired. Sounded like somewhere to the south of Lamont/Sherman.

He's in the wrong forum. And I don't mean subforum. Have any new progress to show us?
Have any new progress to show us?
There will be soon, I only finished school yesterday and I have had a few other things to do as well, such as getting a new DVD drive. Now that I'm off school I shall have a lot more free time, so hopefully as long as I resist the temptation to waste my time playing games the model progress ought to speed up a lot. I am planning to finish the first half of my vehicle tutorial before the Dodge is released, otherwise the stuff in it is going to become out of date (I've had the footage for nearly a year). This half of it will cover: driving, stunts, console commands and a few special effects and tips. The second half will be released after the Dodge is out and it will be about how to make new vehicle models, change their properties, make spawn scripts for them, make new sounds etc. Also I just noticed that the Fueled Mod vehicle pack has been out now for a year and two days, it has had 19889 downloads.
IS this model available for download? Because i would love to texture it :) Oh and i would like to Request an Audi R8
IS this model available for download? Because i would love to texture it :)
Not yet, I'm hoping that it won't be too much longer though. I will be doing the texturing for the actual release but I'm more than happy for people to reskin the model afterwards.
Oh and i would like to Request an Audi R8
That's already on the list.
I will be doing the texturing for the actual release but I'm more than happy for people to reskin the model afterwards.
That's something I am going to do first!
That's something I am going to do first!
I will be making the template and I will also be doing some skins. I need to learn how to skin at some time and I just got photoshop so I want something to do with it. I will send you the template when it's finished though so you will get a chance to make skins, don't worry.
Ok a little progress for you all, it may not seem like much but I've tweaked the roof line so it's much more rounded: Progress should speed up a lot now as I have finished just about every other task I needed to do. I have just spent the last few days going through Garry's mod and my other games removing everything I don't need or want and I have managed to delete more than 10 gigabytes of clutter.
I have managed to delete more than 10 gigabytes of clutter.
@_@ wow
DUDE, that freakin charger is insane. I LOVE you. Although i am a chevy man, i will download and drive the HELL outta this thing when its done. (I'd like to request my Mitsubishi Mighty Max [My first and current vehicle] http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=180635577&albumId=1650716 )
This part looks bland. Theedge between roof and windshield (I hope that's how you spell it...)
Erm... I haven't done the windshield yet, that's what I am currently finishing. I have finished the side windows and I will post images soon.
Side Window Update: I am going to do the front window now and then neaten up the mesh under side window.
Looks like you're almost done here. All you need now are some textures.
