Do you mean a turbo boost to make you go faster or an actual modelled button inside the car?
an actual modelled button inside the car? Both? but mostly this one ^
Ok small progress update, there isn't much to show at the moment as I'm remodeling the entire body shape to correct the numerous problems in it and neaten up the mesh around the front end. It's not as bad as it sounds though, I'm mostly resizing areas and moving verticies to make adding furthur details easier for myself, this whole process shouldn't take much more than a few days and believe me the car is going to look a lot more detailed and closer to real life as a result. At the moment however the car is halfway through this conversion so it kind of looks like it's been involved in a small traffic accident so there will be no new pictures until this is complete. After the reshaping is complete I will be separating the doors and boot lid from the body and adding the few remaining exterior details that still have to be finished: wing mirrors, door handles, fuel filler cap and windshield wipers etc.

Just a quick question though, how frame killing will this thing be?
Awesome. Just a quick question though, how frame killing will this thing be?
Awesomely-o-dam-that's-cool frame killing :D
Awesome. Just a quick question though, how frame killing will this thing be?
I woulden't imagine it would be bad, go and look at some of the EvoCity cars and you kind of get a idea.
Just a quick question though, how frame killing will this thing be?
I don't think it will be killing too many frames, it's just one individual model. At the moment the polycount is around 22,000 polys although that will grow when the interior is added. Just to put that in perspective the EP2 Jalopy weighs in at 16,536 polys so there is quite a difference but it's not going to kill the game.

Carry on with your good work.
Seriously? What graphics card do you have?
nVidia GeForce 6100. It plays half life 2 at an avg of 30 fps, but gmod i get around 10 to 20, depending on the map. (also, i dont even have the episode 2 on my pc [Orange Box for PS3 FTW!], so why am i even able to drive the jalopy?)

Also I think Garry added the jalopy to Garrys Mod pretty early on after switching to the orange box engine, I'm not sure though. You didn't download it from someone else did you? :cop:
nVidia GeForce 6100.
You should really update, i have a nVidia 9400 GT

It doesnt have any sounds, but i can drive it. Sorry to derail your thread.
Very pretty... cant w8 till the color
looks really really good. I already use the fueled mod on my server so when this is done this will be another thing to add. By the way, just to add to the request list, how about a ginetta g50 http://www.chrisdittmannracing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/g50-medium.png
Ok an update on the front of the vehicle just so you can all see what i've been doing so far. Note that there is still a lot to do before it's completely finished, such as smoothing certain areas and getting the shape of the front just right. You may also notice that I removed the fog lights; they were getting in the way while I was trying to edit the mesh and they needed to be redone anyway so I just deleted them and I will make new ones soon. So the checklist goes something like this now: - Add fog lights - Add decorative bumper trim and license plate holder - Finish re-shaping side details and wheel arch trim - Add other detail parts: Fuel filler cap, side mirrors and door handles - Separate doors from body - Start on interior
Great job! I hope the interior will look just as good as the exterior of the car.
Do also one with lightbars and make a police car! :D
Do also one with lightbars and make a police car! :D
Oh man, police Charger. The cop car of my dreams, and of my nightmares. :ohdear: Also, the car is coming along beautifully, Chris. Can't wait to see how the interior will look, but I can assume it will be awesome with the amount of detail you put into the exterior.
The interior could be pretty easy, you can cut the dashboard, shifter column, and chairs from the jalopy, and make necessary fixes and touch ups to them, amirite?
The interior could be pretty easy, you can cut the dashboard, shifter column, and chairs from the jalopy, and make necessary fixes and touch ups to them, amirite?
I wouldn't steal it directly from the Jalopy, but you could use it as a frame of reference. Both Chris' Charger and the Jalopy are from 1969, so it should work. But remember that the Jalopy's parts are ruined and torn, and are not all directly from the reference of a 1969 Dodge Charger. For all we know, Valve put on a Charger body with a Camaro interior.
this looks very good. I also have a request for a delorean: there is a delorean model in a vehicle pack but the textures are fucked and the model isn't to great.

I have plenty of photo references aswell so I don't really need any more anyway. The only parts that I would even consider taking from the jalopy would be the steering wheel and the seats but since both of those should be the easiest items in the whole interior to model I won't be doing that.
When you make this as a Jalopy replacement, you are going to need to add in the map thing and the magnusson bomb holder at the back as 2 separate body groups. If you don't know how to add body groups, ask bloocobalt.
Holy crap! 4 pedals!?
Yeah I have no idea what the pedal on the far left is for, does anyone actually know? I thought it might be something to do with locking the front brakes for a burnout but then that means you can't use the clutch so that idea doesn't really work.
How in the heck are Gordon and Alyx supposed to get into the car?
Through the doors, like sensible people. No I see the problem since alyx likes to climb in through the space where the windscreen used to be, there are three solutions: :geno: - Ignore the problem and let her act like a ghost climbing through the glass. - Remove the windscreen, perhaps replacing it with a net or metal grating only on the drivers side. - Change alyx's animations so that instead of going through the windscreen she slides over the bonnet dukes of hazzard style and goes in through the side window.

Oh, and the petals are as follows: Parking, Clutch, Brake, Gas. (seriously, howd you not know that?)
Oh, and the petals are as follows: Parking, Clutch, Brake, Gas. (seriously, howd you not know that?)
I'm british, here we have handbrakes. I've never seen a car which has the parking brake on the floor, how does it stay on when you're not there to press on it? Is it like a toggle switch; press once and it stays on, press again and it disengages?

All american cars have them, but only manual cars are they needed.
