Model Update:
I was able to find a bit of free time today to spend fixing the roofline and a few other exterior features and I'm very pleased with the results. I shall hopefully be able to post some images tomorrow after I've done a few more improvements. After those are done all I need to do are some underside and interior improvements and I can get around to UV mapping again.
I'm also going to try and experiment with some new rendering methods such as ambient occlusion, don't expect that quite as soon though.
Update: The roof is nearly finished, there will be a few minor improvements to the polygon flow but it is now much better than before and much closer to the real car. The fuel filler cap has also been improved.
I am planning to do a few more touch-ups on the exterior and then I will do the final work on the underside and interior parts that still need improvements.

Looks great, Chris. Looking forward to the release.
Good job, Chris the models looks awesome. I'm sure it helps to have a keen eye for detail.
Is your car driveable once it's released?
Something tells me it will be complete in next 3-6 months.
I was thinking to start with SLR McLaren, what do you think?
I find interiors are hard, and race cars as well.

I know Chris isn't making any more requests, but I was just wondering if he was working on a 1965 Ford Galaxie, there's one up on the street next to mine (as in, my street) for sale for like 2 grand. My dad says he thinks it is a 289 V8.
Okay, so I took pictures today and yeah, it must be a 289, because it's a Galaxie 500 like my dad thought:

1)
This car will be drivable when it's done.
It's been there on the OP since the thread was made, read next time.
2) Yeah probably.
3) There are a couple of areas which could be potentially difficult to do but it's not too bad and if you do finish it to a high standard then i'm sure it could be very popular later. Also I've found another good blueprint resource site: http://www.tutorials3d.com/eng/blu_list.asp?marca=Mercedes
4) Yes, finding good interior photos is difficult, especially ones that show you small details. You just have to search hard or make it up yourself. As for racecars same thing really, especially when trying to get blueprints. I would leave that until later.
Its certainly coming along NICELY chris, after the cars released have you thought about changing up the front gril, rear tailights and the hubcaps so it looks like the 68 one from bullit?

Update:
The roof's smoothing and mesh have been greatly improved since the last pictures were taken so it now looks good from all angles but the main difference as you will see I have added a much more detailed radiator grille to the car, it's not as high poly as you would think so I'm confident that the model will still compile fine, I may still use the old flat grille for a LOD though.

Looks perfect man, Like I said, I can't wait for this.
Great job, compared to the other grill, this one looks HD ^_^
Glad to see everyone liking it, the next update should show the lights uncovered. I'm also going to work on some of the underside details.
That grill looks real, like really real. In my opinion it adds a finished and proper look to the model.
I've been messing around with rendering in XSI and I decided to try out the Ambient Occlusion shader.
[img_thumb]http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3548/ambientocclusiontestima.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3548/ambientocclusiontestima.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/3548/ambientocclusiontestima.jpg[/img_thumb]
Pretty simple tests but these are the first properly rendered images I've ever attempted before, all the images I've posted before are basically just diffuse and phong lighting. I'm going to try and apply this to the Dodge Charger model in the form of baked ambient occlusion maps when the model is released.
God its going to look awesome in a blue and white color combination

You have to fucking tell me how to do this stuff. Lol...like porting.
Big Update and Very Big Pictures incoming:
No real changes to the model but I decided to do an Ambient Occlusion render on the Charger and I liked it so much i decided to do 9 of them.
They took between 5 and 10 minutes to render depending on the resolution.

Don't expect me to do this for every update though, it takes much longer with set up and rendering so this will just be occasional.

The instructions on how to use the ambient occlusion shader is all in the XSI documentation.
I'm not quite sure i can say anything else that i haven't alreaddy said, so i'll just say good job :v:

I can only agree.
How's the interior going?
How's the interior going?
The interior has been finished for ages.

I've got to agree with you as well.
Yeah its kinda pointless to say anything about it anymore, you seem to have everything well and covered.
So its just best to just ogle the photos and wait for release at this point.
Hey guys I completely redid the old General Lee that is here http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_2_Vehicles;105641

I'm not sure. Think I'll have to see it in game for a bit of comparison.
I'm not sure. Think I'll have to see it in game for a bit of comparison.
Well, of course, it just looks pretty dis-proportioned from the picture...
That one, actualy looks a lot better than chris'
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to point out that I was being sarcastic.

The textures look like they are compressed a lot!
