god those things are massive!! pretty much a bus
Yeah, imagine the poly count. The only way you could do something like that with the model compiler poly limit is with bodygroups and splitting the model into separate sections: body, funiture, fittings etc. That's why I would like to leave this sort of thing for when I have a better understanding of modelling and compiling.

Thanks, I'm hoping to make the next series more story driven. The first series was actually made for a science project and so there had to be a lot of science mentioned so that it wasn't just a man and a cat killing each other, the next series will still have the odd bit of scientific narration but not as much as before. It's going to get a lot more interesting, there will be a lot of exotic science including genetics and time travel and the Dodge will play a large part of at least one of the episodes.
Oh cool if the chargers going to be in it then you have my full attention, you also said something about time travel i have an idea for a car you could make later on, do the letters D M C ring a bell.

Well lets see, that could mean Devil May Cry, Deathmatch Classic, Dimethyl carbonate perhaps?
In all seriousness though I don't want to just remake the Delorean time machine, also there is already a drivable Delorean in gmow. I would like to apply the idea (Fusion reactor, cooling vents, time travel circuitry all over) to a new vehicle if I did that. Now no more questions about that, you'll spoil all the surprises.
ahh not necessarily i reckon you could get away with it all being in one object, just make seats separate and attach them to the whole model. Maybe make it 2/3 uvmaps though

Ha ha OK no more questions, but i am still very exited for the dodge, also an RV would be pretty dope to have in the game, when me and my brother would play G mod him and i would spend a ton of time turning the G mow school bus into an RV.

I meant to split the model up into bodygroups for the process of compiling, If you load one very high poly model into the compiler it can cause it to crash but if you split the model into smaller components and then get the compiler to put them together again it can overcome the problem and allow you to compile very detailed models. I think Mariokart64 has done this to get some hi-res ragdolls into gmod.
Also this method allows you to toggle those parts of the model on and off so you could have different levels of trim in the same model which you could change whenever you wanted, just like alternate skins.
ah i see, yeh you could i reckon you could manage about 10k easy and have modeled the whole thing to quite high detail with that many polys
ah i see, yeh you could i reckon you could manage about 10k easy and have modeled the whole thing to quite high detail with that many polys
EP2 Charger is 17,000 polies, TF2's hwm heavy is 22,000. I don't think something the size of three chargers would fare too well at 10,000 polies regardless of how square the body shape is.
I think you mean triangles Red.
ah really, never knew that, ok your probably right, maybe a low poly version then haha
hey chris what colurs are we having with the charger?
hey chris what colurs are we having with the charger?
Not sure on a full list but I would like to atleast have:
Red
Orange
Black
Silver
Dark Blue
And they will all be switchable with the skin tool.

Please make me this car, it's the new 225 mph Jag I'd give you MASSIVE credit..

That does look nice but I need to finish my Dodge first, also as I tell everyone who requests here it might not be possible to make a car if there aren't enough images or good blueprints but I think that this one is more likely to have those. I'll add this to the list.
Thanks, there are blueprints for this car, there's just not one without the kit on it. I'll look though.
It's Jaguar XF-R it will look different if you type the standard XF in.
Second sound sample is ready. Download it Here
There should also be some new images of the Dodge later today or tomorrow.

I like it, nice and raspy the sound could be a bit clearer though. Also how many sound samples do you think your going to make?

Glad to hear you like it but I agree that the sound quality could be improved alot, but don't worry when a final sound is chosen I will make sure it's as high quality as I can make it.
As for the number of sound samples, I'm just going to keep making them until a final sound is decided on.

...you would supply him with credit for him modeling it? do you have a brain?

Well it's better than NOTHING.
Well some good news and bad news.
Bad news is I haven't made enough progress on the model itself to be worth posting a new image yet.
Good news is that I've been at XSI Base and got some great advice on how to make the wheel rims, so hopefully I will start on those very soon.

perfection takes time! anyway, this will look great in the movie,oh and btw about that, can we have a rusty charger.or a black chrarger with mud up the sides and such.
:)

Well OK, but it will come out after the first one.
Ok progress on the wheels. The rim and the tyre are pretty much done, now I just need to do the spokes.

Excellent, so your going with the torque thrust rims then.
Well OK, but it will come out after the first one.
oh,of course
Excellent, so your going with the torque thrust rims then.
Yes, but they won't necessarily be direct copies of them, just based on them.
Yes, but they won't necessarily be direct copies of them, just based on them.
will they be bigger at the back? you know, small at the front big at the back.
will they be bigger at the back? you know, small at the front big at the back.
Yes, there won't be a huge difference but yes the rear wheels will be larger than the front ones.
