No, idle speed is when you put the car in drive and just let it roll/go. What I said before was about what happens if you are going like 100km/h and you let off the gas, so it keeps a consistent speed for a little bit.

Well I've been pretty busy over the last few weeks preparing for and attending university application interviews which have been going very well but it hasn't left me a lot of time for other things like this model so sorry for the lack of updates, I have now made a test version of the model which has been compiled with full animations for the first time. There are a few minor issues with the animations but I think most are due either to .qc file errors on my part and some mistakes in Softimage though the initial tests do seem promising. I haven't added textures to the Source model yet because I haven't made any Specular/Phong maps yet, when those are done I will post some images.

I'm currently in the process of making a really complex vehicle view system, which will most likely not make it to the next really, so going to release a simpler version of it.
Also, about the idle speed thing: I kinda liked the Saint Row 2's cruise control. So it'll probably end up something similar to that for the idle speed.

As Max said it's pretty much just a basic block in the rough shape of an engine, there's very little detail to show. It's mainly just there to complete the underside details of the drivetrain.

Quick question: should the cruise control be active when there's no player driving the car if it has been activated before the player exited it?

Also I think I saw an addon somewhere that plays a live audio stream to the player from a server, if I could look at how the hell the creator of it did it I could then get the live feeds of radio stations, which means a fully working vehicle radio. That'd be pretty awesome.

I don't know I think that would be pushing it plus it might be a good idea to make it so you'd have to do that on a person by person basis manually as to prevent compatibility issues with everyone.
Sorry I just get the feeling that such a system is too complex and is bound to screw something up with Gmod like lua or something secondary to gmod that garry might mess with despite him having no need to like with the advanced duplicator recently or the jalopy's camera that's now screwed up whenever you try to drive it on a server.

And its silly to think that, the cruise control now consists of 3 lines, thats not allot of code, I'll still probably make some notification clientside for the player later, theres pretty much nothing for it to go wrong, if garry would brake it I'd just fix it and I'm trying to make it as compatible with other addons as possible, thats why I use so weird variables and do a s* load of beta testing. Not getting an addon because you're afraid its going to break or be broken something without even trying it is just silly.

And when touch any buttons that controls the speed of the car the cruise control goes into hold mode, just recording the keystrokes for adjusting the cruise speed. I make it sound really complex, but its one of the least complex things in this pack.
Also another two things: this addon now uses 8 different particle effects from hl2 ep2, so you will need it mounted to see the particle effects, I also made the option to choose your own particle effects in the vehicle spawn script. And there is no way to get the engine to sound right when cruise is on, theres nothing I can do about that ATM, maybe latter I'll figure out how to simulate keypresses or something.
Alright well if it's simple and its been tested to death no worries.
Personally I'm just sick of having garry screw up gmod right now because of some logical hickup on his part, my folders menu is screwed up and doesnt save my changes to it ala deleteing all of the extra folders it created when he added the phoneix pack to the game which I already had and a few other little annoyances.
