Alright, I'm going to be completely honest.
You know what, I think a Rocko's modern life quote will do this some justice:

Here's why I need it. My Portal map ends in a massive battle against combine (the combine will have CS-style assault rifles I made and custom camo outfits) but the player needs to be armed by aperture science.
In other words, Aperture hires you, the player, to defend it from an insurgency. Meaning you have to place drone guns and somehow be armed with an aperture science-style pistol, machine gun, and rocket launcher.
For the pistol I've designed a very simple skin replacing the HL2 pistol so it's shiny and black with a little aperture logo on it. The rocket launcher still needs work. And I wanted a full model replacement for the SMG. (Maybe even model replacements for the rocket launcher and handgun too). SO. that being said, if you honestly can produce this I will not only include this into my highly anticipated full total mod and mention you in the credits, but I will also do anything for you that you want that is in the realm of possibility.
bump? This looks like a really good idea, i don't know about the whole transforming into 50 other things, I'm pretty sure no one's did that as a swep, but the fact that it would be an smg that's portal themed, would still be kick ass

If this will become a SWEP, I can try and make a custom tech-like fire sound assuming this doesn't use conventional ammunition and runs on energy cells or something. I think an AR2-ish muzzle flash that's a light blue/green would look great on it, and some pulse-like fire sounds would make it epic.

If you look back a few pages, I said it was my fault. I told him I would try to figure it out, but he wanted me to rig it to the ar2 anims, which I didn't know how to do. I expected him to send me the anims that he had made, but he didn't. So I and gave up. Sorry :(

I have a few questions though,
Why didn't you at least compile a world model, both closed and open, and maybe midway?
What program are you using, and could you possibly export to .smd format and send it to me? prefer milkshape if possible, make sure it has the UV map, I can't load .obj or .fbx with UV maps, that is why I failed when I tried.

I don't have it anymore. This was sometime last year that I'm talking about. I don't remember much about it other than he didn't include everything that I thought he would, and my skills were no where near what they are now. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that you'll never see this working unless someone remakes it. I'd love to be proven wrong though.
It should unfold itself if the player comes near.
I can't do it, but I bet that a few people around here could whip up a Lua file to make it unfold if the player is within about 5 feet. And have a little sound. That would get the player's attention REALLY quickly.

This would be hella easy for anyone with any modelling experience to recreate. Anyone willing to take a shot? I could, but I've lost access to 3DS Max and Blender is an uphill battle to learn.
It would be epic if someone made a full selection of weaponry like this and made into SWEPs...

I'm possibly willing to give this a go as the model does look pretty simple, however, my texturing skills are.... well... they're not great let's say...
Anyone willing to gimme a hand with texturing this if i can remake it?
