I think it just needs a place to put a laser sight and it would be perfect.
Screw having ammunition, make that thing a laser-rifle. It'd fit in with the Aperture Science theme.
I love this rifle and I don't think you need to or should change anything.

Absolutely adore the idea and the general shape, but the stock arm (which probably [i]will[/i] be seen) needs rethinking, and it could do with some more gun-ish touches.

Best weapon I have EVER seen. Seriously. You should work in 3d modeling for a game company.
In sourcrsdk_contect/hl2/modelsrc you have SMDs and QC of all weapons. Just took the QC and smd ,then replace names. Then open with different explorer browser to the sourcesk/bin/studiomdl.exe and then drag QC file to it.
The problem is the whole hands deal, Chell or Gordon hands, and then doing all the bone work and stuff.
I just can't be bothered to do all that, especially cause i hate working in 3ds max

It's nice and all but i think you people are going a bit over the top. It's very plain for a model compared to many others and it isn't all his own work.

I COULD try creating an Aperture Science Cake Slicing Technique Precision Enrichment Device (or a cake knife but in AS style)... But my lack of modeling skills could stop me... Nonetheless, i'll try
Definitely reminds me of the mass effect weapons, which is a good thing. I would love to see a full line of weaponry though one miracle at a time.
Let me compile it damnit. Just send me the smd's or whatever your using.
