Is it easy to texture in Milkshape?
nm, figured it out :P seems so yes, as long as the groups are defined
Sounds pretty good. We need to get a team going :D

Whats turbosmooth?
I also figured out how to smooth a bit, but ill send anyway:

The black centre of his eye wont show up, but its in the texture. Whys that?
Edit: Shit, i didnt save the Scyther with textures. Ill do that later.
The reason the iris isn't showing is because the 3d preview uses a lower quality preview of the texture, so it probably got lost during pixelisation.

Oh, im sorry. I must have said i used it.
I used Milkshape to smooth it.

Trying only the angled screws aren't working too well.
The 2 out the front?
The 2 out the front?
Yup, also I just accidently hit delete all and when I undid it the textures are now all gone ¬.¬
Edit: huh, seems leaving the texture mapper window thingy open saved it..sorta, Also i've got the eye working :D (well the dot is there anyway).
Yay!
Yay!
Finally got it maped and exported again, still crashes the compiler :(
Mind showing me a pic?
What compiler? What happens when it crashes?

Studiomdl is what I generally use as you can just drop a QC on and it works (and its more stable than the others).
Then I tried GuiStudioMdl and the same thing happened and StudioCompiler always crashes for no reason so i'll discount that one.
What happens is it is fine until it gets to the .sw file generation then it just stops with no error message after about 30 secs of nothing happening. Can't really put a pic as it wouldn't show anything out of place.

I meant a pic of the model and stuff.
Ive heard good things about this compiler:

I havent tried it, so i dunno if its clean.

Can do, will take a min though.
The one you've linked there is the one I can't get to work at all lol.

You can if you want but I doubt it will make much difference. (this is version 2, version 3 has the red line removed and is setup for eye posing, well the VMT is, not sure if you can do eye posing on a prop).
HaHa that is so insanely awesome. Wish it worked :(

So do I :( That one is in .obj format and all versions have been converted to .smd's, its the converting to .mdl thats the problem.
What about it being a different file type than obj?
What about it being a different file type than obj?
Suppose its worth a shot but every other .obj has worked fine except this one.

Finally managed to catch the blink fast error message, any ideas what it means?
Oh crap, I just had a thought, does the smoothing increase the poly count?
I would think it would. I think to smooth it adds more polys.
I would think it would. I think to smooth it adds more polys.
I think thats the issue then, its exceeded the poly count ;(
Well, i could do the model again, but not as smooth?
I can have it done in about 5 mins.
It depends on the program, I know smoothing models in 3ds max wont add polys. There might be a error in one of the three smd files.

Worth a shot, just to see if it is the issue. Though i'm dreading setting those textures up again :S

All 3 are the same model, which usually works fine for props. Though I did try it with 3 different ones and it still failed.
Edit: Just looked in the .obj file with notepad is "# 18240 triangles total" a normal ammount? (it does take a while for it to export it, which isn't normal).
I didnt smooth it in 3ds. I used Milkshape to smooth it, then imported it to 3ds.
You can smooth it in 3ds max, it is simple, all you have to do is this...erm hard to explain, here is a image.

I tried that, the model didnt change at all.
Well, I suggest importing the model then, save it, then close max, then reopen it then try smoothing it again.
