how come all Fillipino's are good at drawing anime style? or drawing in general.
Most likely because they practice.
I don't know whether to laugh at the OP for trying this, pity him for trying this, or respect him for trying this.

Kind of embarrassing when you think about it.. Unless they plan to make a career out of it.

Well, my intent is to be a Charcter Designer. I'm currentley majoring in Game Art & Design at the Art Institute.
Also your face looks like a fat Hawaiian kid who got 5 pounds of lard injected into his lips and then smashed his face flat on a side walk. Also the model is too generic for my taste.

I concur
Body seems finished for the moment, I'm working on the head now. I'll do the hands and feet afterwards.
Pictures to come later...
anime is for people that cant draw real faces and you all know it
anime is for people that cant draw real faces and you all know it
Agreed, though i cant draw real faces or anime. I dont bother drawing :D
anime is for people that cant draw real faces and you all know it
I don't even feel like arguing with you. All I know is, I go to an Art School, where I see plenty of people who are good at drawing both real faces and stylized faces. So shut it.
Yeah, but the point is that they learned to draw real faces first, and THEN the stylized ones, not the other way around.
I don't like excessively muscular characters, there's far too many of them nowadays. I wanted to create something that girls would find attractive.

Why are you modelling yourself then? Or indeed anything remotely resembling you?
As I said, I need some practice in character modeling, and this is a good way to do it. I've always wanted to make characters for Gmod, and this is me finally doing it. Having a character model of "myself" to work with in Gmod would be awesome for comics, etc.
Besides, Everyone who has "Themself" in a Gmod comic just uses a reskin of a HL2 citizen. I've got my sights set higher then that, I want my own custom model.

Ah but can YOU draw both?
Ah but can YOU draw both?
It's so hard to draw yourself realistic, i can draw others or faces i come up with realistically fine and stylized, but yourself if a whole other concept.
Update, techincally.

I'm modeling my own head for my Advanced Modeling class. After I'm finished with this photorealistic version of my head I'll stylize it to work with the stylized model I'm making.
EDIT: Also, concerning my ability to draw "realistically", I can do some realism, but I admit it's not the best...

Yeah, I know it looks wierd. When modeling for a likeness to a real person, the modeling process is a bit different. We start with important features such as the eyes and mouth and move outwards from there to complete the rest of the face. This is about the same way the Citizen's faces were created for Half-Life 2.
Bump for update.
Realsitc version of my head in Zbrush. Texturing it now. Will add polygonal hair in Maya later.

Thats quite impressive, it does look the right shape to what you were aiming for :) However it does look rather high poly for use in GMod, are you going to make a lower poly version then make normal maps using that one?

This technically isn't the actual head I'm going to use for the finished model. This Zbrush model is for school. The base Maya head will be modified and stylized to fit the design I wanted.

That model's at subdiv level 3, so for every 1 polygon in the original basemesh, you're seeing 16.
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first, but this is coming along quite well. Keep it up.
Thanks. My teacher was really impressed with the ear. It's the first time I've ever really done one the way the professionals make one, and it turns out I got it right the first time. :D
Top shit bro, real good.
. We start with important features such as the eyes and mouth and move outwards from there to complete the rest of the face. .
Every normal face is done like that
Every normal face is done like that
Ever heard of Box Modeling? The head starts out as a box and they tweak it until it looks like a head. Before you could do things with photos like this, that was the standard for making heads.

That was before. Now every normal face is done like that, if you need it to be realistic that is. Sure cartoony ones can be made out of box, but for realistic ones box modeling doesn't look that good
The character art looks NOTHING like you.
Just thought you should know.
Still cool art though :D

Harsh or not, it's the truth.
