Most of the anime haters are just people who think adults shouldn't watch animated things. I hate to say it folks, but even when watching a regular live-action movie these days, you're watching animation. It's called CGi, ever heard of it? And for those of you who say it's for kids, just shut it. Really. You go watch a few anime, then get back to me and tell me it's still for kids.

Another update. Just finished making a very nice hand model to go with this. I gotta say I love the way this turned out, looking up a tutorial on modeling hands in Maya helped me out a lot here. (All the hand models I've done before this one were crap, LOL)

I actually didn't follow all of it, exactly, but the very basics of starting a hand model that it shows helped me to get a good starting point for me to go on, the rest I improvised. I didn't do any of the subdiv stuff he talks about because I wanted it to be a mid-poly-ish model useable for games. (I like to stick to a PS2-friendly polycount as much as possible when I model stuff in Maya.)

I'm working on finishing the stylized version now. Looks good so far, I'll post more progress on it later on...
Fuck the anime version, go with the proper one. Just make an LP and then bake the normals from the ZBrushed model.
Trust me, it'll actually be worth the effort.

Anyways, this was always about the stylized character model. The realistic head was just practice, I never wanted a realistic version of me in Gmod.

I've never heard of those terms. It must be something that's common only in your area.
Anyways, If you're trying to say "You're not doing it because ugly people called you ugly", that's not the case. As I said, from the beginning I wanted a stylized character based off myself in Gmod, not the real me.

Seriously though dude, there are enough androgenous anime characters floating about. They all look the same. More people need to get proper characters ingame, be it themselves or a fictional but realistic character. I probably won't be able to persuade you, but give it some thought, seriously :|

Ah, that's why, it's a British Slang...I'm American, from California specifically, so I wouldn't know it.
And I did give it thought at one or two points during the process, but I didn't like it. I want an idealized version of myself. If I wanted to see myself in a game I'd go outside and kick a soccer ball or something.
I mean, everyone's got sort of an "Ideal" version of themself: the type of person they wish they could be. Some people want to be more muscular, some people want to weigh less, etc. My own ideal person would look little more anime-ish.
If I had the skills necessary I'd just model myself in my cams and stick that in. I'm pretty happy as I am vOv
Why are you making such a big deal out of him not doing what u want him to do Rossmum? Its his model, he can do whatever he wants with it. If I was doing a model of myself, I'd add a moustache because I like moustaches, even though I do not have one myself.

True. And besides, if any of you had a custom model of yourself you'd probably pose them in a way that makes you seem much more badass then you might actually be in real life.
I'm just taking that very concept and pushing it forwards a little bit more by stylizing it the way I want to.

Because I'm getting pretty tired of seeing anime this and anime that when it takes considerably more talent to make something else, and when someone has the potential to it's a massive waste. But I guess you're right, if people want to hop aboard the bandwagon and take the easy option, I'll just sit here and keep it to myself, since anime is clearly the greatest thing since sliced bread and only a really horrible and uncultured person would grow sick of seeing the exact same thing done over and over.
