No, but it'd be nice to see some kind of originality. Even just a tiny bit. I don't care what sort.
Then you make something original. stop forcing it upon others.
I don't recall forcing him at all. I'm certainly not pointing a gun at him and ordering him to do it. It's called a suggestion, and last time I checked I have as much right to suggest something and then voice an opinion about it as you do. Stop suggesting I do what you want yourself if it bothers you so much. Either way, clearly nobody gives a shit, so nor do I. Keep posting if it makes you feel special or whatever.

Can't wait to see what it looks like finished.
Woho ! this is a great model :D
Because I'm getting pretty tired of seeing anime this and anime that when it takes considerably more talent to make something else, and when someone has the potential to it's a massive waste. But I guess you're right, if people want to hop aboard the bandwagon and take the easy option, I'll just sit here and keep it to myself, since anime is clearly the greatest thing since sliced bread and only a really horrible and uncultured person would grow sick of seeing the exact same thing done over and over.
Funny thing is, the thing I'm seeing over and over again is the "realism". I hate this whole ideal that men have to look all giant muscled and buff and all that crap. There's far too many characterslike that now. And anyways, realism seems to be the default look for games nowadays. Where's the art? Where's the interesting, idyllic stylization? The only places I'm finding it now is in stuff like comics and stuff coming out of Japan. REALISM is the easy-way-out bandwagon here, not stylization, especially here in America. Don't think I'm some freak who thinks anime is the ultimate thing or whatever, because I don't think that way. I do have great respect for the genre and I do think it's pretty darn awesome, but I'll be caught dead before I say it's the best thing ever. There are definetley some parts of it (especially the way a number of the fans of anime act, as well as the overly-cute stuff, etc.) That I hate. I should also mention that our attempts at "realism" are hardly real anyways to begin with. Barrels of fuel don't explode when you shoot them in real life, not every girl looks hot, and not all guys are giant meatheads without capability for emotion. What they're really going for is a plausible-feeling, Hollywood-esque reality, which is, in and of itself, a stylization. Why not simply embrace that this is an escape from the boring, dull world we live in and actually make something that looks different? Anyways... Latest Progress. I ended up using the head of Zero Suit Samus as a reference while making the head, to give it that ideal, mildly androgynous, but still masculine look. It'll really come out when I add textures. I need to UV map the body first before I can move on to creating a texture for the body. With that, the template will be finished and I can begin adding the character details, the hair, the clothes, etc.

Most of the guys in my Company look entirely normal (I'm a scrawny bastard myself), and if you take a look even at the SF guys, they don't look all that different from the average person. I certainly agree that seeing roid-pumped characters popping up all over is irritating, though. As for art style, again, not sure about 'realistic' - more like 'brown'. I see all sorts of colours when I go outside. It'd be nice if game devs and movie makers alike would concentrate on getting things to look right, rather than exactly like everything else out there. Actual realism would make me happy, not 'what looks realistic assuming someone accidentally set off a thousand-pound bomb in a dustbowl and then fed everyone HGH'. Either way, I should probably end the derail here. Model looks structurally pretty good, wires?
This thread always makes me laugh. Good progress though, keep it going.
Funny how it doesn't look like you at all. Thanks for your clocks.
Hm, didn't know you had a giant sword in real life. Compensating, much?
