The people yelling 'hurf you're gay!' are way off, but I do find that 'I hate that she's a girl and she'd be way better as a guy. I just don't like girls.' reeks slightly of misogyny, or at least some [i]issues[/i] with women.
It's not so much the request for a male version of Alyx that's outlandish (fanartists do alternate-gender versions of characters all the time), but the reasoning.
