I'd like to think of it as being halfway between realistic and tf2.
Perhaps try making your wood more glossy and less in the spec, it's looking the same as the metal values at the mo.

Now you're a true american son.

how should i go about rigging the "teeth" of a chainsaw or chainsaw-like thing?
i have a few Warhammer chain weapon models and was thinking that if someone wants to use them in SFM videos or something they're going to have to animate the blades. what kind of skeleton should i make? here's an example of the kind of thing i'm working on

If you are making it for Source the easiest thing to do would probably be to just have the teeth be a strip of alpha tested planes (with a separate material), then scroll it using material proxies.
this is kind of a novice 3ds max question?
is there any sort of carve tool similar to hammers carve tool?

TF3.
No but in all seriousness looking very nice, I'd love to see it inside source.
I bought the Quixel suite without really knowing exactly what it is. Well I guess I knew what nDo was but I've never tried dDo prior to today. It's neat, made a lighter that is full of lazy smoothing and baking errors

I'm having a hard time finding documentation on actually using the suite, though. Couldn't figure out how to add the warning label or any of the engravings to the texture without leaving the suite and I'm not sure how often 3DO's viewport updates.

You're probably looking for booleans.

i think i'll put the texture scrolling planes in a bodygroup so it has a proper mesh for when the teeth are not active

Interesting art style, it has a little bit of everything in it.
Some of the bolts are directly over the seams on the outer ring, it might be worth touching at least the errant ones by hand.
I need a new PC. Period. How do I go about moving my 3dsmax license to a new computer?
idk, check online. there should be something to deregister a computer with your autodesk account.
Started working on some distant rawks and some new lighting shaders.

Have you said what your little western project is yet? It looks very exciting.
Not really no (at least not anything coherent). We're working on getting the basics done and once we have some solid gameplay (and a name logo!) we're planning on making a dev blog site for it. Jlea's uploading new wip vids every now and then though so if you wanna see that go here!

JLea? Is it Ivan's Secrets set in the wild wild west?
More like Mount & Blade in the wild wild west.
like mount & blade with guns
