I watched an artist called Tor Frick stream today, it made me want to instantly drop Max and learn MODO purely because edge weights dont use control edges, anyone know of any equivalent in Max?
Have you tried using the Crease option under Editable Poly?
Have you tried using the Crease option under Editable Poly?
One day, I too want to be a 3dsmax wizard.

apparently.
+ for that you have to have a mesh with relatively even density

Really wish I had the gusto to work on stuff after work! I'm so jealous of the stuff I'm seeing from you guys and sad that I can't bring myself to contribute. Maybe some day I can post some stuff from my job! but of course that wont be for another year..
I posted this originally in the wrong thread... Sci Fi Cryotube. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16349584/3d%20models%202014/cryotubewipfront1.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16349584/3d%20models%202014/cryotubewipback1.png[/t] I'm trying to determine if I want to have like a static hose coming from the back or to have like a sci fi core like thing which can go in the back. What do you guys think?

What do you guys think?
Bros before hose, yo. Nope, not gonna apologize. Also finally did the texturing for this 1:1 recreation of my workspace. Seemed like a perfect job for dDo, since the texture is real simple and I wasn't motivated enough to do it otherwise. [t]http://bit.ly/bbworkdesk[/t] I wish I had known how to make high poly back when I made the model though. I had already collapsed my loops and edges into dust for optimization, so all of the control loops are horrific to look at and there are a ton of baking errors :(
Cousin told me about Sculptris. Here are my first few minutes;
-wrong thread goddamnit-
Got it in SFM [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21161113/SFM/clerk_desk.jpg[/t] Also gmod too with accurate collision mesh but whatever
The Dodge Charger? Yes I will once the interior and underside are modelled and textured. I will be rigging it up for Gmod and possibly a few other game engines, obviously after some polygon reduction.
Are you also going to release that grey Pontiac?
Are you also going to release that grey Pontiac?
I think so, I'll have to make sure with my friend since it's a commission, I had to stop working on it while I was at uni but I should be able to get back to it in the next couple of days. At the moment I'm trying to get a blog going: http://chrisbrowne3d.blogspot.co.uk/ I've not really done a blog before but it seems like quite a nice way to post up progress on my projects and discuss things that I find interesting. Do you guys think it's any good or should I change the template? I'd also like to get my own domain and set up a proper portfolio site once I have a better idea of what style i'd like it to be and once I have more work to put up on it.

I'm trying to decide which looks better.
A. The extra mass in front helps plant the weight of it, not to mention fills out that thick torso.
I'm trying to decide which looks better.
B. Feels more natural and less clunky, it also makes it feel as if it has an actual neck to it where as the other one gives me a HL1 Houndeye vibe.
I'm jealous that you actually have a job. I'm trying to decide which looks better.
A is nicer looking but B actually looks like it could run.
I'm jealous that you actually have a job. I'm trying to decide which looks better.
I'm suprised you don't! you're a ton better than me! On another note, I found an a set of scripts for photoshop very similar to what we use at work, and let me tell you, they are a god send You can set up a series of folders in which ever fashion you want. So in the PBR set up you can have your channels like this: R = Metalness G = Roughness B = Occlusion A = Whateverthehellyouwant and when you hit the button it will take all of those folders and put them into their respective channels and export. So it will spit out a .TGA file with all the channels mapped to what you specified inside of photoshop. It's really awesome to work with instead of having to manually set all of that up yourself.. Plus you get everything in one map rather than 3 maps which are grayscale any wase so might as well combine them all into one map since they will only use 8bits.
R = Metalness G = Roughness B = Occlusion A = Whateverthehellyouwant
I call this Mr. AO I really want to model a dude in a tophat and have PBR shaders for him so I can personify the idea :v:
made an old computer or something
like?
Vents on the side? All my CRTs had them.
yeah i should probably put them on the side, I have some on the back but I suppose it looks rather bare
Just checking out what it would look like with a hose. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16349584/3d%20models%202014/cryotubewip_hoseaddition01.png[/t] For context, I plan on having this slightly tilted with a bunch of these having their back against a wall. Thoughts?
