Those tread spikes look impractical
It's a jet propelled quad barrel tank, practicality went out the window long ago.
The blades are getting hinges though which will help a bit.

That weird metal texture on the body looks pretty tacky, but other than that it's awesome. Is there some cool concept artwork for this?
Added hinges and changed the size of the blades:

Yeah that texture is definitely getting replaced.
The design is inspired by a vehicle from an old game called MAX.
Best pic I could find:

Hello, I haven't done any modeling before so I am a beginner right now.
Basically I am trying to make a map for my game, very simple level (something as simple as the image below)

Before I ask my question, I am using 3dsmax and Unity.
So my question is, when I am making the model would I make one box and then just connect and extrude the polys or each wall would be an individual box?

Not sure how others do it, but I personally - when I am making level in unity for example or UDK, I create assets (models) that are multi purpose and can be re-used.
So I would create walls as some 256x256 panels (forgot scaling, but basically 1:1 ratio), then using these panels I would create walls, it would also allow me to create turns, corners etc..
OK, thanks for the quick answer.
So, started to learn Blender 4 days ago, came out with this, it's high poly, not triangulated, but just for learning the basics.
Sill a lot to improve:

Relativly simple scene, but took me a while to render. I had to render it all in 6 pieces, then put it together in Photoshop.
The yellow lamp and purple bush are very distracting.

Also one quick question, in the image the map is pretty much square you don't really have any rounded objects. So in this case what kind of assets would you have?
For example the walls, would you have some big walls and all you do is duplicated them in the inspector or something like that.
You're right, it is.
First actual fully done model that I've managed to get into GMod. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=376847434
Gonna be some updates probably (still want to Jiggle Bone the lid) and now I just gotta get the rotation to be better for placing it on the backs of players in our TTT server :D

Not sure what you mean, will assume you asked what kind of walls would I have for that scene.
Square panels of walls (textured), then duplicated next to each other or above each other which now creates a big wall, and these square panels can be reused further in map.

I know the pain it did take for you to create all these. But to be honest here when it comes to criticism. I've difficulty to distinguish few of the objects. Mainly because there are too lot of colors (I don't know to describe, but still, that's the point) in the picture. I kinda find that lighting source a tad awkward.
If that yellow blob is supposed to be a source of illumination. I don't see the distinctive characteristics of its' light emission.
I can't decide which is the biggest. The object resembling a spaceship or the forest in the background. The light rays kinda ruin it.

Oh ok, I just wasn't sure if that would be a right way of doing it.

For some reason, the glow lamp's bottom wasn't casting any shadows. As for which is bigger, the forest. The lighting is supposed to be in two parts, you have the globe lighting the deck and the foreground, while the midground (The woman) is supposed to be lit from it AND from the light coming in from behind and to the left. The rays are there to hide any... imperfections in the overall image. (Such as the crappy background set I had to use.)

Your globe isn't lighting the woman at all though. from what I can tell she is only being illuminated by whatever the light rays come from, from the left. Her whole right side is drawn in shadows.
Very hard to tell what's going on in the picture and I had to sit there for a good while trying to figure out.

Alrighty, well I tweaked a few of the issues as much as I could without re-rendering everything and I think this one looks better. Added an orange tinted light source on the female, and added a reflected house surface to the float lamp and dimmed it.
Here's what the goat thing was for. Some tweaking still remains and then it's time for the workshop.

Dota 2. It's a set for this year's Chinese New Year event.
Ah figured it was Dota2. You hang out on Polycount? They got tons of Dota2 stuff goin on all the time.

I certainly hope that gets put into the game. It's pretty damn cool.

I check in on the threads from time to time but I don't really like posting. Mostly I just post in this thread because that's what I've been doing for the last few years.

For reals. Surprised that you don't join those contests if you got stuff like this. I can get that though.
And now here's the final thing. You can even click on it if you want to vote on it!

Time to sleep for a week now.
Great work, very professional work and presentation. I hope it gets in!
