What do you use to render them to look so nice?
First Character I have ever made. It's actually half decent!

Was bored this morning so I did a quick zBrush sketch, made it into a tillable texture for a collapsible pipe. Awesome work, I instantly thought of all those epic fail products on TVhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ-xlag2xjI"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ-xlag2xjI

I made this after watching Platoon and playing Kentucky Route Zero. I'll probably decimate it more to reduce the polycount. It currently sits at around 1.3k tris. What do you guys think? Should I continue and make some more stuff like this? It seems like if I continued and put this and some other stuff in Unity it would be fun to make some sort of Quake-like shooter with it.

I hope to do it more often. Funny enough, my inspiration came from Polycount as well with their Monthly Noob Challenge 8. Even though it's over I might try and replicated it

Still need to work my way around Mudbox a bit. :v:
same here, it's kinda scary to post on polycount, so many bigshots
Yea...I probably shouldn't post on there either. Have you ever seen the people who will post something saying "oh yea, I did this really quick today as a test" and it's like holyfuckthatlooksamazing. Fucking polycount.

It looks good, but it sort of removes the uniqueness that you'd get from doing it completely from scratch.
sorry for the crap screenshot, finished my oil drillbit. [t]http://files.1337upload.net/2013-08-25_00001.jpg[/t] any idea how to figure out the correct LOD distances? LOD 0 is the full model (shown in the screenshot) and LOD 1 has the spikes removed. I'd like to show LOD 0 only when the player is close to the model.
I instantly recognised that it was ddo before I had read what you posted. It looks good, but it sort of removes the uniqueness that you'd get from doing it completely from scratch.
To be fair, using the marmoset previewer doesnt help that either
To be fair, using the marmoset previewer doesnt help that either
why is that? it's just a cut-down game engine that you can use to render and present assets in. Why spend the time on something that you can get "out of the box" with Marmoset Toolbag. I can understand lighting is a good thing to learn but most 3D artists will just be modeling/texturing (at least in bigger game studios).

No slight against Marmoset, I think it's brilliant.
ddo models hey guys, I usually post in TF2 but I had this other practice project I was working on. in a nutshell: ddo is dick suckin incredible, its so powerful.... im in awe dudes.
ddo models always feel kind of generic to me.
Phew! Getting faster at texturing. [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/FpslNv.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/uREw92.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/RFw984.jpg[/t] EDIT: You guys make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I mean, using the default lighting and skybox from marmoset isn't helping it stand out from other dDo renders. No slight against Marmoset, I think it's brilliant.
??? If you want it to stand out from other dDo renders, don't use Ddo, Marmoset has nothing to do with it really.
I guess this will be the page of me more WIP [t]https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/1237295_577823342274927_864236542_o.jpg[/t] Did a block out of an old competition on Polycount. It's already over and done with, but I was really inspired by the thread and I'm going to try and do it myself!
