yes that is one of the only differences also for this one i want to make it not caseless
It's a neat idea and a good start to a model but relating it to the G11 in any way other then basic exterior design cues wouldn't be right.
which imo (no disrespect or anything to h k) is a good thing because the G11 was a marvelous mess: [t]http://www.hkpro.com/image/g11bolt.jpg[/t] ????

(probably n)
If you wanna make a G11 style break-action then maybe make something more like an LMG11: Honestly having the break positioned so far forward makes it look like there's a lot of wasted space in the back.

All you need now is an AO bake.
I think the rust portions also need to be moved around, as it is right now the entire gate has a single "obvious" rust texture applied to it and separate parts of the gate somehow rusted in the exact same way as if they were a single flat plane. Rust is also inconsistently placed even if unique (some corners have a lot of scratched surface and rust while others have absolutely nothing).
I really appreciate the advice but I can't quite visualize it. If anyone wants to take a crack at it here are the project files: http://filesmelt.com/dl/Heavy_Door.zip It comes with an .obj, the base color scheme, normal map, glow map, and a red and green color map.
The scratches are too obvious and quite unnatural, unless it's a door at the "sawblade ricochet safety testing facility"

[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/S9EIax.jpg[/t] some more heavy WIP. One thing that's pissing me off right now are different monitors view on this scene. My 2nd monitor is a rather new one. an Acer 22' that I got earlier this year so the contrast level is more sharper than my old samsung which is about 5 years old. The issue I'm having is which monitor should I attune for? this scene on my new one looks alright and how I would want it, the colors are sharp and the contrast it just where I'd like it. But once I move the scene over to my old monitor, the contrast gets washed out and it becomes muddier and darker. How do you guys deal with this? should I just build it in a way that my older monitor looks fine? or keep building it on the newer one?
I'd say continue working on it with the newer monitor. Since it's able to show details without them looking muddy or washed out, it would probably be better to stick with that one while you work on that.

(Ignore the eyes please!) Just a little something I'm preparing for the Spooky Mapping thread. For someone who doesn't do a lot of skinning I think this is looking pretty good. :v:

It's not the best, and your blood isn't flowing from his eyes very realistically, but overall decent work.
Finished the ammo belt today, I'll completely finish this sometime soon but I'll need to wait until I'm back at uni so I can render it, which is a week today.
At this point I'm not sure if I want this to be used for routine cleaning or military applications:
Looks like one of those bomb defuser robots. Or maybe something used in surveillance.
the mesh looks great but design-wise I'm not sure, the main body is attached on the threads directly and there's no suspensions
This should go without saying but it's a work in progress.
This should go without saying but it's a work in progress.
But it's a serious design flaw, there is actually no physical connection from the treads to the vehicle thing. You've made it so it's on top of the treads, rather than at the gears inside the treads.
