eh fuck it 6 hours sunk into this thing and it looks even worse i'm gonna go search for skins instead
Looks fine to me. What about it sucks?
Looks fine to me. What about it sucks?
it just looks stupid and out of place stitching together photos of my jacket didn't really turn out great
Textures are usually created by hand. If anything is created from photos, it's usually the environment textures, but they're edited to the point they look like textures rather than "photos" of grass or bricks. If you try to stick a realistic photo on there, it's going to look extremely fake like some of the 90s games.

[editline]6th January 2014[/editline]
it just looks stupid and out of place stitching together photos of my jacket didn't really turn out great
It looks pretty damn good dude. Imo the player model makes it look out of place - perhaps have a go at redesigning the model?
It looks pretty damn good dude. Imo the player model makes it look out of place - perhaps have a go at redesigning the model?
I can't model that good, and i really don't want to sink time into learning it either, not worth it.
I don't really like to copy/paste a post, but this is my first human face that doesn't look like a Chernobyl victim [thumb]http://imgur.com/19OUxar.png[/thumb] And in 3d (Apologies for the broken hair) This is literally the proudest I've been about anything I've ever done. Ever since I've started modelling I've wanted to make something like this, and now I'm finally getting somewhere.
So I have been a bit out of practice recently because of a lack of inspiration. What do you guys do to find something you actually want to model?
i look at my desk
- Sometimes your better ideas may come at random times rather than when you want them to. Try not to think too hard on it. - Inspiration comes from elsewhere. Play a game, watch a movie, read a book, etc. Depends entirely on what you're trying to do. Studying helps. - Exercise is surprisingly helpful. I go for a run each day. It gets the blood flowing (especially in your brain) and gives me some time to gather my thoughts. I almost always think of ideas for models, features, fixes to problems, and so on while running.
i look at my desk
I agree to that in fact I actually do that from time to time when I'm bored as heck and when I feel like doing something productive. Just to prove that this is the greatest way to get something started I've modelled this in a very quick manner for example purpose it's quick it's easy and It's on my desk !!!! lol someone should start a thread for this model what's on your desk thing to get some of those lazy butts to do something LOL..help each other out ..
That logo seems really distorted
Of course I spent like 5 mins modelling it and another 5 to texture it ...why wouldn't it be distorted .
Of course I spent like 5 mins modelling it and another 5 to texture it ...why wouldn't it be distorted .
Then fix it! :v:
Then fix it! :v:
It serve the purpose of an example ...and I'm terribly ill
I dont see a lot of architectural modeling here, but does anyone think they can help me with modeling interiors for UDK using modular peices? Im finding it hard to find good documentation of how to do some things.
I'm going to start a series on making detailed hard surface environmental pieces soon so that might help. See if you can figure out what inspired this detail:

I say fallout

I [del]made[/del] am making some torpedo tubes. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Vb8kBin.jpg[/[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Wyt8Sua.jpg[/img_thumb] And since it's my first time making universal joints and I'm proud of them: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/AZ8yH4c.jpg[/img_thumb] The tubes on the right are just sloppy clones of the left ones which will be changed. I just wanted to see what it looked like full. Also the tubes still a work in progress. Thoughts?
Whoa now I am intrigued, what project is that for?
