sorry i forgot to ask apwn will you be doing Enterprise A - james t kirks first ship Enterprise B - james t kirks second ship Enterprise C - ships that james t kirk died on. also because i was wanting all the Enterprise ships
As a matter of fact, I got all the models together to start on the NCC-1701-A, but I hit a roadblock. The saucer section is so thin, that I cannot fit the bridge I found in Elite Force 2 inside of it without seriously breaking scale to other ships. (it would need to be much bigger than even Enterprise-D) The other option is to reshape the saucer, but then it would look stupid. See pics. can't you make the ship bigger by 25% and see if it will fit then ? also if your making v2's of the voyager/Enterprise D you could make them bigger too so it will match the same size of the rest of the ship. Edit: that ship is small just resize it man it's still going to be good it maybe alittle bigger but hell it will still be awsome :D also you chould remove the two side rooms also so it's just the bridge and shuttle bay only. if you say something back to me i'll check it at my work later on i need sleep lol i'll see yae later on man have a good one apwn

Length, height etc. It would be insanely large, and scaling the other ships to it would make them nearly unflyable on a Source engine map. Good news is, both siderooms would fit easily in the saucer, and a ton of other rooms as well. Edit: I'll increase the size a bit (no bigger than Ent-D, and see about thickening the saucer to where it isnt obvious. Ill post pics when I have them
ok man then just do it to what you think is right man it will still be cool also i forgot to ask this last night but can you add the old engines and the new engines for NCC-1701-A that way it's like two ships in one the old and upgraded copys of NCC-1701-A also i take it your going to use the same bridge for the uss excelsior too?? also any new shuttle for that ship too ? EDIT: i got str trek elite force one big box copy for £10 lol i'll play some of that to see if there's any ships or models that may take your fancy ;)
awesome. Also, i think ive (sort of) soved the problem. I will use Voyager as the scale key for the other ships. (Sort of what you suggested, except im not going to redo Voyager, because an insane amount of work went into cramming all that shit in there so tightly) Since I'm already redoing Enterprise-D, I t will be no problem to make the changes. Also, it will allow for a more natural looking shuttlebay. (most didnt notice, but the shuttlebay on my 1st enterprise[-D was about 10 times larger than normal lol)
(most didnt notice, but the shuttlebay on my 1st enterprise[-D was about 10 times larger than normal lol)
No, really? It's not like the real Enterprise could pack six shuttles in there even at full scale or anything. XD Anyways, I can't wait to see your new and improved Enterprise D :)
cool apwn man i still can't wait to see what your new ship is going to look like :D
any update apwn i've being checking the thead alot and there's being no updates for awhile
oh yes. much progress. dont think ill post dev pics though. ill just release when i release. I'm working on Enterprise-E. Also, anyone know where can I get a Danube class Runabout shuttle exterior?
oh yes. much progress. dont think ill post dev pics though. ill just release when i release. I'm working on Enterprise-E. Also, anyone know where can I get a Danube class Runabout shuttle exterior?
there was a deepspace 9 game that that this shuttle model but i forgot it's dam name i'll try to find the games name for you EDIT i think it was this one here games name ( Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Fallen ) try there first for that shuttle
Dev pix! Dev pix! Hehe. We like seeing what you're doing, Pwn! And uhh there should be a good runabout model for BC too. Since the DS9 model is built into the game...
Ill take some pix when I get off work. I was shocked to learn that the Enterprise-E Type 11 shuttle found in Elite Force 2 HAS A FULL BRIDGE! - a very nice one at that. From the EF2 screenshots I have seen, I always assumed it was just the exterior, until I loaded the deck 7 map and noclipped inside of the shuttle. * jaw drop* I'm actually fininshed with it and am currently checking it for errors. All texture lighting has been enhanced and the lower cargo door can be hinged. (upper door is static, but its useless anyways) Bridge size is a little larger than that of the Halo Longsword ship port (Which initially inspired me to port ships) and has its own transporter at the back. In fact, it outdoes the Longsword in every way. Smaller hull (no insanely large wings), larger bridge, better looking, less popping through the ceiling when exiting chairs. It should be posted by tonight as a standalone ship. The only downside is that it is a little too large to dock inside of its mothership, Enterprise-E, which alongside Enterprise-D has been scaled perfectly to Voyager. The best thing I can think of at this point is to have it 'latch' onto the bottom of the saucer, or hump the hull inbetween the nacelles - with some sort of docking ring system. This is more due to the extremelt slender segments of the Enterprise-E than the the shuttle being obscenely large. (in fact, there is enough extra space in the Enterprise-D saucer to hold several of these shuttles) --- The reason I ask about the runabout is because I was looking at bridge diagrams of it, and its bridge is strikingly similar to that of the Type-11 shuttle. The exterior shape is very similar as well. Basically, I'm thinking I can transpant the (beautiful) guts of the type-11 into the runabout, to add an extra popular shuttle type to garrys mod. Also, it would go great alongside a static deep space 9 map - if I could only rip the promenade and ops from 'The Fallen'. Several docking rings could be placed around the stations outer ring while the promenade could be placed in the center ( i assume this is how it is in the show anyways). My main problem is disabling culling in the Unreal (v1) game engine. Enabled, it prevents me from grabbing geometry that is off screen or behind me. I cannot find the commands to disable it. I have been trying to grab that Defiant bridge as well but I run into the same problem. Also, EF2 has a very nice map of starfleet HQ. Ripped, it it could be placed beneath DS9 on a miniplanet also containing a shipyard, effectively creating an official 'Star Trek TNG Space Build' or RP map. Any experienced mappers want to help =D?
THAT IS AWSOME i can't wait to see you next work
ApwnInTheDark i tryed the new ships that you sent me there fucking awsome the shuttle worked fine and Enterprise-E looks really well done too can't wait for the full copys to be done :D EDIT: aso i got a small warpdrive working inside the shuttle but it went so fast in to te side of the skybox that it crashed my pc :S
Thats because the principle behind warp fields is freezing time =P
Thats because the principle behind warp fields is freezing time =P
well my one did something wrong and it just got messed up
Loving the map ideas, and the possibility of an interior in the shuttle. Basically, seeing I am a freak about ships with interiors I'm loving all your stuff. I don't suppose you've done anymore on that tallship you mentioned before?
he's being working on Enterprise-E + the shuttle for it he's giving me his beta Enterprise ship and it's fully working and the shuttle and i must say this will be as good as the rest of the star trek ships he has made
Better! - and not so much because my skill has improved. Its just that the source material comes from the newest start trek game to feature a full bridge of this amazing ship (and ready room, and observation deck overlooking the nacelles) I signed up for Star Trek Online beta so if I get it, Ill see if the interiors are any better. (They may be very generic so as not to resemble any TV Show ship in specfic) It will lack a shuttlebay though for sure. The 'sphincter' of Enterprise-E is way too narrow for its own shuttle to enter. Sure, Voyagers or Enterprise-D's smallers shuttles could be accomodated for, but that would be too much effort for something that makes no sense. Update: Im going to include small half translucent, glowing ship models which will be surrounded by glowing rings on all axes. There will be a small physbox near the center, with 1 face parelell to DEAD center. This is to weld X & Y axis ball socket into, apply 'keep upright', and have a holographic horizon indicator type thing in front of the pilot. (x rotation will be disabled though because it will be spinning in circles, serving no other reason than to confuse) Also, if you face this little model towards you rather than away, its rotation relative to the floor will be a perfect representation of the larger ships relation to the map floor. =D If it works well ill include 1 for voyager and enterprise-D
sweet man can't wait for it do hope that more ships can get made for gmod because space build 3 + your ships = server of win.
Not entireley sure what you mean by the 'hologram' ship, but sounds interesting. I've applied for the Beta too, so i'll let you know if i get in- and you can always contact some of the members of the Bridge Commander community, some of the player made content is fantastic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFKXeta0mvA Its an indicator to notify players of their relative angle to the ground. Mechanically, its nothing too complex, but it looks badass and works ok. (Sometimes it the ship will rotate on the Z axis which it shouldnt) It uses advanced ball socket (with Z rotation disabled) and 'Keep Upright' 'Gyro' component can be welded to anything and work the same, not just that stand.
That's actually pretty smart, simple is always better! Liking the interior in the new shuttle, looks very nice! Looks surprisingly good for the size in which it fits. How is the collision in the interior anyway? Is it possible to walk around inside, or is no-clip needed?
You promised pix! Heh. Keep up the awesome work, Pwn!
What lol count the frames in that video and thats how many pics you have =P The Shuttle's collision model is perfect as far as I'm concerned. I spent hours countouring it to the visible geometry. (You can probably leave bulletholes in 90% of its surface area) Other less noticable improvements to the stock shuttle are: -I was able to reduce the Exterior size by exactly 30% with only minor modifications to the bridge to make it fit (most noticable in the protruding hallways, the outer wall has been cut and recessed considerably) -Perfect hinge positioning on the ship/loading ramp so that it closes seamlessly -Using photoshop, created real lightmaps based on the 'pictures of lights' found among the textures. (The exterior lights can be seen in the video) As for Enterprise-E, lookup images of the bridge from Elite Force 2, then imagine it inside of the ship model from Star Trek Legacy, with the same lighting effects as Voyager. I could post pics, but to this point it is 100% stock geometry and nothing to be proud of yet.
What can I say, fantastic stuff.
Going to cut the windows out of the hull and make them their own subobject, in order to make them both translucent & reflective. (both of these things together bug the texture for some reason, making everything sort of transparent)
anymore news?
I finished porting the TNG Era Drydock. I also scaled it to the ships based on its approximated length of 900m, according to Ex Astris Scientia. It doesn't look exactly the same, but of the Drydocks listed on Ex Astris, it closest resembles the Type 4. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/starfleet_stations.htm (Drydock type 4) As for the Excelsior, it CAN work with the bridge I ripped from Elite Force 2. (They board a derelict, which has the bridge), However, with the bridge to scale with source engine players, and the the Ship itself to scale with Voyager, the bridge would need to have the cieling lowered about 15% which might look weird. This port is definitely on the backburner though so dont expect it any time soon. Lastly, I also scaled a Nova class to the rest of them. While it cannot house a full scale bridge, it could easily house one that has been seriously scaled down and custom fitted for it. See pics.
