Usually the threads are just left dormant and slowly fade out of existence.
You could have an Admin lock it if you wanted to and they were willing, but you don't have to. If it gets necro-bumped at all, they'd probably end up locking it soon enough.

Oh, and thanks for killing that Alien... it was kinda disturbing to have that thing in the vents.
