what i meant by random were the random guards that patrol around the bases.
are each of these soldiers unique OR are they just soldiers with the same base body mesh but with different head models (or just differentiated with textures)?

after reading your post here I think I can understand the time and effort required to rip the models. I should try this technique for myself and see what I can come up with.

the best part is that the textures are no longer a problem! just using the jpcsp debugger for getting almost all the texture files and that's all!
theres a evil and painful part for example this is what i separated by hand

sometimes (particularly snake's face) it has some garbage geometry that is actually on the same face geometry but withuot uv's so when you try to apply the texture it just creates garbage and you have to delete every object face one by one, that's the only problem i got with snake, the other characters didn't have that problem
but it took me a lot of time separating the materials, and the works is actually 75% accurate... some textures are corrupted from the emu so i have to fill the voids like dinosaur dna!
awesome! but i've decided to model my snake from scratch. he's much more stylized and it'll take more time to get a working animatable model, but hey. at least I can learn some texturing and modelling skills on the way. :)

Do you have any idea where the models lie from mgs1? So maybe I could make a mod. I have searched a bit through the files but dont seem to find anything to open it. I have made skin packs for wolf et (models was inside pk3 ) just unsure about this game. I would love to create a complete new texture pack to.
