You are full of lies. I said some reservists were heavy. I praised the Marines in their amphibous operations, and how the army would NOT be capable of bring an amphibous operation to the extent of the Marine Corps. The Marines kick ass period, I believe the Marines would be more capable of taking the fight to the enemy rather the army. The Army's motto is "This We'll Defend" Keyword: DEFEND. The Marines are good at taking something and then the army holds it. I am in the young Marines and I earned the rank of GySgt through it. I never said I was a Marine. I said I was born wanting to be a Marine.
I gotta agree, the whole point is that the Marines do amphibious landings and that the Army does land operations, right? Aren't the Marines part of the Navy? (I have no military experience whatsoever and do not claim to be an expert, please just correct me if I am wrong.) But I DO have to say that the Army itself is perfectly good for attacking from land. Obviously the Marines would do amphibious landings, considering I've heard they're part of the Navy, the whole point is that the Army does land operations.

technically the marines are part of the navy, yes

That's why you didn't see Marines in europe in WW2. When we went into Iraq in 2003 on the other hand, we had the Marines taking the hard route to Baghdad, while the army took the easier way and didn't have as much opposition. The Marines had the most opposition when we went into Iraq, both in Operation Desert Storm and in the 2003 invasion. I respect all branches of the Military, everyone has their favorite branch and I lean to the side of the Marines. There's no wrong in that is there?

I said the army isn't as strict with their weight regulations as the Marines. In bootcamp in the Marines, heaving people are given less rations, while underweight were given extra. If a heavier recruit performed poorly, he'd be dropped from his platoon and would be sent to a Physical Conditioning Platoon (PCP) AKA - Pork Chop Platoon.

Srsly everyone, lets cut the shit about better camo and concentrate on the models at hand. who cares about digital shit when these models represent the 1980s US military anyway when they all were issued BDUs?
I just want to say one final thing, obviously the Marines are gonna lead an assault because in case you haven't noticed, the Untied States is part of North America and what're we gonna do, WALK THERE? Unless there's another Ice Age and the oceans freeze over, we're gonna have to do amphibious landings which are of course, the job of the Marines. It's like saying the Navy sucks because it's not sending it's Aircraft Carriers onto land. (I'm trying to say that they're doing their jobs and not another branch's jobs)

No offense, but people like me care about accuracy. I'm really getting tired of seeing all the incorrect shit that games like Call of Duty are making "true". You wouldn't believe how pissed I get when someone assumes ANY double barreled shotgun is a "Ranger". We SHOULDN'T however waste hundreds of posts debating on which camo is better because these are OPINIONS. What if I say that Arctic camo is the best for the Desert? I may be wrong but I'm allowed my own opinion, aren't I?

I think it's cause they passed a law stating that no company video game or television/movie can fully impersonate people in the armed forces. That or I've read it wrong. But i think the companies who make these kind of games (Save America's army and [hopefully] Seven Days In Fallujah) Aren't aiming towards a military audience and more towards the general population with little, to no experience to in the military. Why go through all the trouble to make it accurate when 2/3 of the audience doesn't care nothing about accuracy and only entertainment?

Because, Call of Duty being the perfect example, when you choose entertainment and unrealism over realism and accuracy, you help to spread ignorance and improper facts. The first two Call of Duty games were even made SPECIFICALLY, to be as realistic as possible! Look where they are now! CoD Black ops features BRAIN WASHING. You really want thousands of kids to think that they actually had Brain Washing during the Cold War?

Wrong sir! All games after the second one started sucking. The third one sucked especially. And Modern Warfare COULD have been realistic if it hadn't featured all the stupid shit like Sentry Guns. I was replying to a post asking why it matters if a video game choose unrealism and entertainment over realism and accuracy. I was using Call of Duty because it's the perfect example.

Ontopic once more. How bout we do a bigger pack that represents the U.S. Military in the 1980s-2002. Like having different body groups with different branch tapes [I.E. U.S. Army on one sub group, U.S. Marines on the other] Different headwear [The Army and Airforce's berets and field caps, and the Marine and Navy's 8 pointed field caps]. and if possible, Add the Airforce Rank on sleeves for a different sub group.
The U.S. Army

U.S. Marines (Note that Pre-90s Marines had no name or branch tapes on their BDUs and were only distinguished by the EGA on their breast pocket)

U.S. Airforce.

Not really the navy, but it's as close as i can find at the moment. Finding Naval sailors wearing BDUs is a bit of a challenge to find on google.

Also, do you think it's possible to add the flag to their sleeve without it being mirrored? Not only is it inaccurate, but it's ugly as sin.

I totally agree. The more accurate they are, the happier I'll be.
CoD games are fun games to play on a rainy day, but I hate how unrealistic they are. The stealth bomber would make no noise at all, they are completely silent, and you'd have to be a genius to create a sentry gun that can tell from friendly's and enemies. I also do not think the Russian Paratroops in MW2 would have FAL'S or FAMAS's and such. They'd be using older gear for an operation that big to invade us. And to the topic, Zupa the models you said you finished, are they the ones with the CORRECT ALICE pouches? Or still the same ones as they were just tuned up a bit? Troops would also not have a buttpack in their front either, I have never seen that before. Troops were only issued 2 Magazine pouches, compass pouch, bayonet and sheath, 2 canteens, and their buttpack. That's all they'd have on their belt. If you go to 4 magazine pouches, then that's just too many. No troops had 4 magazine pouches in this period. As you come up to more modern times with LBV's and vest's nowadays, it's alot easier to add more pouches to your kit, but for the time period you're going for with these, 2 is enough. Please update them with the correct pouches and amount of gear.
Not to send this thread to the shitters again, but really duders, you aren't qualified to speak about the military like you know shit until you're actually in it (and even then, only if you're not a useless fuckwit). Intent to enlist doesn't change that. I can't count the number of guys who reckon they're 'born to be a soldier' only to go AWOL or discharge a week later.
You may not end up being one of those guys, but for now, you're not a soldier (or Marine) either. Cadets or cadet equivalents don't count, and if you want a tip, don't drop that around guys who are in because we hate cadets above all else.
[editline]28th December 2010[/editline]
Wait, what? Stealth doesn't magically counteract the whole 'LOUD FUCKING NOISE' aspect of jet engines. Muffles it, but there's no way to silence it unless it's at pretty high altitude (which it may be in the game, I can't remember - but more likely they had it skim the rooftops because it looks fucking cool :downs:)

But I read alot about the military. I know alot about it for my age, particularly weapons and gear around the 1960's and 1980's and 1990's, and I can damn near name almost every weapon used in WW2. The stealth bomber wouldn't be COMPLETELY silent but when it goes over you in the game it sounds like a fighter jet. It should be alot quieter.
Also also, mag pouches are a grey area, here at least. We just go annoy the Qeys until the dopey fucks give us more of them, then chuck whatever shit into them. A 'standard' webbing setup, for example, is two Steyr mag pouches on the opposite side to the dominant hand, two Minimi belt pouches (one on the other side for ammo, one on the back in lieu of a buttpack), a canteen either side of the rear Minimi pouch, and that's it.
...Nearly everyone in my unit has at least two extra pouches. A few guys have two extra Steyr ones either side of the rear Minimi pack, a few just have two of the Minimi pouches up back plus the third for ammo, and a couple somehow manage to get two Minimi pouches and two Steyr pouches on there. Each soldier customises their gear to suit their needs, from their webbing to their LBV to their pack. I doubt it'd be any different there, because trying to standardise things to the amount of mag pouches you're allowed is pretty dumb.

Bah, what am i saying? Not just what i've posted earlier, but a female version of these soldiers/marines. They can unofficially have combat roles too you know, (I.E. MPs, combat pilots, transport pilots, Etc. MPs are the closet a woman gets to ground combat according to the U.S. military)
