When I get a chance to, I'll look over some reference pictures with gear and whatnot, see if I can be more accurate. Version 3's gonna be a whopper. I might look around and see if I can get the proper gear and uniforms for Russians, too.
Better idea - get someone to port from wic and steal all those sexy lovin models ALSO HAS AN M136 MODEL THAT DOESN'T SUCK COMPARED TO COD4'S
ACU is a terrible urban camouflage. It works in what it was designed(not marketed) for, the Afghan Mountains, and that's about it.
Shit, it don't even work there.
Shit, it don't even work there.
yes it does ACU(UCP, technically) has been proven to successfully hide troops within the Afghan Mountains far better than DCU and Multicam, which has something to do with the fact that the mountains are mainly grey, not desert tan or musty brown

EDIT - Just dug around and found this - http://www.armytimes.com/news/2010/07/army_multicam_071210w/
UCP does work on mountains- as for anything else its useless.
fuck your shit. 3 color desert erry day
UCP does work on mountains- as for anything else its useless.
If it does, multicam works better in Afghanistan than UCP, one of the reasons they're replacing it. Plus, not all terrain in Afghanistan is mountains. What do you think would work better in this enviorment? - http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/places/images/photos/photo_lg_afghanistan.jpg
you're confusing me
you're confusing me
What camoflauge pattern do you think would work better in the picture I linked, UCP or Multicam?
Multicam was designed for Afghanistan, the Army fielded multicam with a unit in Afghanistan (don't remember the name) and recieved positive feedback from the pattern, they said it looked better and blended well with the enviorment than UCP.
yeah that's in non-mountainous areas
What camoflauge pattern do you think would work better in the picture I linked, UCP or Multicam?
Multicam was only issued to some soldiers in the 173rd around the Korengal valley also multicam but i didn't say multicam doesn't work in afghanistan - i only said UCP works in the mountains and just that
yeah that's in non-mountainous areas
Correct, Multicam works in both mountainous and areas such as that in the picture. [editline]20th December 2010[/editline]
Multicam was only issued to some soldiers in the 173rd around the Korengal valley also multicam but i didn't say multicam doesn't work in afghanistan - i only said UCP works in the mountains and just that
I know. UCP works in mountains, but multicam is still better in those areas. I dislike both patterns but I'd take multicam if I was in that enviorment.
I know. UCP works in mountains, but multicam is still better in those areas. I dislike both patterns but I'd take multicam if I was in that enviorment.
So you'll take green/tan/brown over grey-green/tan/sage, which is what the mountains are coloured like smart plan you should be the designer of the next woodland camouflage make sure you plan for those pink woods boy
So you'll take green/tan/brown over grey-green/tan/sage, which is what the mountains are coloured like smart plan you should be the designer of the next woodland camouflage make sure you plan for those pink woods boy
What the fuck are you going to use when you go to the more desert parts of afghanistan? It's pretty much equal, all deploying army troops to Afghanistan are being issued multicam. There's grass in the mountain areas, you want to stick out like a sore thumb in the grass? Multicam in Desert - http://militarygear.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/multicam-in-afghanistan.jpg http://img149.imageshack.us/i/610xy.jpg/sr=1 - UCP in Mountain area. Note the grass, the UCP sticks out like a sore thumb in the grass, multicam would have better camouflage capability in the grass than UCP which is one of the reasons they're replacing it. It looks good against the rocks, but you have to remember there's grass there too. Multicam doesn't stick out as much in grass than UCP. There are more uses for multicam in Afghanistan than UCP, hence the reason they are pulling it out of service there. I stand uncorrected.
multicam does not exactly go with lush green grass either fyi
lol he rated me dumb for me thinking that 3 color desert should still be the main because ACU can suck me off
multicam does not exactly go with lush green grass either fyi
Does UCP? I've seen people use Multicam in woods in Michigan while playing airsoft and it is pretty effective, alot more effective than UCP. [editline]20th December 2010[/editline]
lol he rated me dumb for me thinking that 3 color desert should still be the main because ACU can suck me off
Sorry, thought you were calling 3 color dumb. It would help if you used proper grammar and spelling, stops confusions like that.
are we really arguing about shit camo and decent camo? [editline]20th December 2010[/editline] seriously guys take it to the thread in the airsoft forum thats made for camo lol [editline]20th December 2010[/editline] http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1016779-What-are-the-best-Military-Camouflage-Uniforms-you-have-seen/page17 heres your room i rented it for you
Ugh.. I hate ACUs... I have to wear them every day. I don't like the velcro crap and the uniform just doesn't last very long. I prefer the MARPAT uniforms(I used to be a Corpsman, I've still got my old pairs of both woodland and desert MARPAT uniforms at my parent's place) over that garbage.
Does UCP? I've seen people use Multicam in woods in Michigan while playing airsoft and it is pretty effective, alot more effective than UCP.
obviously it's going to do better than something that is grey-green, but it still doesn't work that well in lush green. It's best used in dusty and arid areas, or anywhere with dusty green/sand/whatever colours
Used to be... did you transfer branches or something?
Yeah back in 2008. I also changed my MOS too. Was a Corpsman, now I'm an M1A2 Abrams tank crewman.(aka glorified infantry because that's what they use us as anyways)
obviously it's going to do better than something that is grey-green, but it still doesn't work that well in lush green. Multicam would be more effective in it then UCP, and that is the point I was trying to reach, multicam is more effective in Afghanistan than UCP. [editline]20th December 2010[/editline]
Yeah back in 2008. I also changed my MOS too. I bet thats cool as hell to be a tank crewman. I love MARPAT myself as well.
Is that lush green in the picture? No. It's brown green.
in the image with the picture of the guy in UCP, that is more lush green than it is brown green, i.e. out of the colour range of multicam I'm not saying that Multicam isn't better than UCP in Afghanistan, I'm saying that UCP is best where it was designed to be best in - the mountains.
in the image with the picture of the guy in UCP, that is more lush green than it is brown green, i.e. out of the colour range of multicam I'm not saying that Multicam isn't better than UCP in Afghanistan, I'm saying that UCP is best where it was designed to be best in - the mountains.
Yeah I know UCP is good with mountains, I even said that, I'm just saying Multicam is better suited for Afghanistan than UCP.
Yeah back in 2008. I also changed my MOS too. Was a Corpsman, now I'm an M1A2 Abrams tank crewman.(aka glorified infantry because that's what they use us as anyways)
Nice, lol.

Much can't really be said to prove one camo being better than the other like this. Pictures don't prove much. Almost always showing a different time of the day, and how dirty vs non dirty clothing looks. The above posted picture of afghan looking quite yellow is pretty much att dawn, and ACU would fit in there pretty well, even if you place it right next to multicam, due to the sunlight colour. ACU fits in just fine too, in daylight in a yellow-ish town if they're a little dusty. Wich they become pretty quickly I would guess. If anything the ACU would be the better option, because it'll stay quite gray if you're in the mountains, and will get that half yellow-brown dusty look on the more dustier places. While multicam still stays the same in the mountains. It's a shame it's so hard to get this right in video games. Am I right?

Lets get some MARPAT in this bitch!
